Did not know what to thing about this band Ghost. Being 55 years old and growing up with Motörhead , Maiden, Sabath , Judas Priest I set my mind to old heavy metal . Then mid and late 80s trash metal came full force . Being "born' metal head I embrace it and love it right away. Like any style of metal. Have to admit that this band is something else . You love it or hate it. I choose to love it . It touches souls. Lost souls, abandoned souls, hoping for better souls .
    Cheers to all Ghost fans

55 and hell yeah - perhaps they fill a void for those from this era. I see Ghost as being very eclectic. They're all over the place with ballads like this and Call Me Little Sunshine but yet some riffy rock stuff like Kaisarion and Griftwood - heck yeah. Hey don't forget about the new Maiden stuff out there. Those guys are still shredding with Writing On The Wall.

Thank the co-wroter Joakim Berg. His band Kent, that played from the early 90's until 2016, were the biggest band in Sweden and they were also huge in Scandinavia. They were sort of indie rock, they also had a more electro oriented period later in their career. Their frontman Joakim Berg is a great songwriter. He's got something special.

    LYRICS
We're here in the after of a murderous crafter
The past is spun like a yarn and mangled
With flesh and blood and bones, I wonder
Did no one hear the distant thunder
The autumnal reaper, the stains of this creeper
Will last, the shine and the sham entangled
Like salting earth with tears of Jesus
He sliced and diced our dreams to pieces
For the dreams that you dreamt
    Can become just as real
As the blood that was shed
With the slash of his steel
    Now the street walking dead
Was quite a scene, wasn't it?
    For the lost and mislead
Were promised seats by the pit
    We will break away together
    I'll be the shadow
    You'll be the light
    Nothing ever lasts forever
    We will go softly
    Into the night
    We're leaving this city
    So this is farewell
    Goodbye, Seven Sisters
    And Saint Jezebel
    The moon in the gutter
    Has a story to tell
One day he will come back
    From the bowels of hell
    He appeared to ascend
So we all stood there in awe
    Now we have to pretend
We didn't see what we saw
    When the curtain unveiled
    To the sound of applause
That the king that we hailed
    Was the Wizard of Oz
    We will break away together
    I'll be the shadow
    You'll be the light

This was the most fitting end to the record. Around the middle of the 5 minute mark, Imperium starts playing. The old, corrupt empire has fallen, and we are again at the start of the record where a new one (hopefully better) is rising. This also fits perfectly with Tobias's view for the future, which is optimistic, as he has stated in a lot of interviews. An amazingly well-done song, and album by him.

    [Verse 1]
    We're here in the after
    Of a murderous crafter
    The past
Is spun like a yarn and mangled
With flesh and blood and bones, I wonder
Did no one hear the distant thunder?
    [Verse 2]
    The autumnal reaper
    The stains of this creeper
    Will last
The shine and the sham entangled
Like salting earth with tears of Jesus
He sliced and diced our dreams to pieces
    [Pre-Chorus]
For the dreams that you dread
    Can becomе just as real
As the blood that was shed
With thе slash of his steel
    Now the street walking dead
Was quite a scene, wasn’t it?
    For the lost and mislead
Were promised seats by the pit
    [Chorus]
    We will break away together
    I'll be the shadow
    You'll be the light
    Nothing ever lasts forever
We will go softly into the night
    [Bridge]
    We are leaving this city
    So this is farewell
    Goodbye Seven Sisters
    And Saint Jezebel
    The moon in the gutter
    Has a story to tell
One day he will come back
    From the bowels of Hell
    [Pre-Chorus]
    He appeared to ascend
So we all stood there in awe
    Now we have to pretend
We did not see what we saw
    When the curtain unveiled
    To the sound of applause
For the king that we hailed
    Was the Wizard of Oz
    [Chorus]
    We will break away together
    I’ll be the shadow
    You'll be the light
    Nothing ever lasts forever
We will go softly into the night
    [Outro]

The moons ambient light was one of the most beautiful sights in my entire life. To see the moons reflection off the duck pond and the illuminations of the gravestones. The sky was the perfect dark velvet with many stars blending the scene. This song reminds my of that scene and how beautiful Gothic nature can be. So beautiful I stayed for 2 hours. I couldn't leave. Tobias is a genius, how the lyrics tie into the actual music and they speak to each other in a way very few bands can accomplish. I mean the guy puts songs on his album with NO words that are pure magic. If you can't see that, feel that, and respect that, I really feel bad for you. This song is fire so thats where we stand there. In total agreement. Besides this song and call me little sunshine this album is trash. So how does a shitty album make me one dimensional? You know when the best time to become a ghost fan was. And its not just cause its where i started but actually makes the most overall sense. Melioria more specifically cirice. That was when you wanted to be a fan at. Why some may ask. Its right where you love the satanic awesomeness but arent stuck on it having to be strictly satan all the time. Prequelle is by far the best put together album therefore making it the best album period. Even though you have multiple huge huge songs that by themselves are the best song compared to any single on prequelle. You cant beat how well prequelle was done in every aspect. This album i almost cried because its that terrible but this song alone is enough to make the entire album worth the money but then its backed with call me little sunshine. Honestly this album shoulda been a 2 song wait 3 song lp and call it a day. So no you are one dimensional thinking everyone who hates the album is one sided. No dude its cause this album is fucking terrible and its sad that only two songs are sry 3 songs title track included are worth a damn. We waited like what like 4 fucking years for bullshit. And tobias owes each and every fan a fucking blow job from his own mouth to right this injustice. Its even worse given the fact he took bullshit and made his bull shit awesome by taking such an awesome song like this and the other two songs and mashing it into an album. Tobias owes this song a fucking blowjob for doing this to it.

Why can’t I stop listening to this song over and over again? I’ve been a casual Ghost fan over the years, but after finally giving this album a listen I am absolutely won over. What a great rock record. This track is easily the best on the album, it’s just dreamy and rich, and has a quality to it that I can’t quite describe. Ghost is saving rock music, I really hope they continue churning out more stuff like this. Rock on!

The return to Imperium at the end with the chorus singing the melody in tandem just brings tears to my eyes. It's the perfect end to the album but more than that. The hopefulness in the sorrowful playing let's you know that it isn't the end. But the rebuilding, the rebirth. Hits deep if you're coming out of a depression and now you're looking to start over. Amazing 🖤👏👏👏👏

Besides hard rock, I love jamming out to anything 80’s, and this is honestly the most beautiful mesh between the heart and soul of the past and the present. 10 out of 10, Ghost f*ing killed it. 🙏🏻

First of all, this album cover is fantastic. I didn't even realize it was the Crowley pose until I looked closer.
Secondly, this album feels like a musical. We have an Overture at the beginning, a solid, heavy middle, and a reprise at the end.
What a great body of work. I will enjoy this for years to come.

Man those violins remind me of a song from the 80’s early 90s. It’s a mix of eras. Bravo again. Not one song is even close to being a skip, how many albums can you play these days without skipping a song. Nowadays 3-4 songs on an album is considered a hit! I love how they use keyboards it changes the whole feeling of a song.

The sound design makes this whole song feel like a spiritual journey, as the soul departs the body. The intro guitars invoke a feeling of confusion, like someone just died and his spirit haven't realized it yet. The first verse describes how he was murdered, and how absurd it is that no one foresaw the murderer's intents but now it's too late. "Did no one hear the distant thunder?" The further lyrics sound like something like the person's life flicking before his eyes, and those stories of people who briefly died and claimed to see heaven and Jesus, etc. Finally, when after the last chorus, Impera starts playing, it's the end of the line, the moment when the soul ascends into the beyond.
