Ironically, this song is the reference of the main antagonist's stand in one of my Jojo's tabletop rpg, and the man's state of mind is not very clear (he claims to be the antichrist yet it is unclear if he has a split personality like Diavolo, if he truly believed to do good when we first saw him as an ally, if he played with everyone all along, if he got possessed .....) so seeing someone with a Jojo picture under that song evokes a lot to me, especially when that song relates to someone who got killed by Diavolo (lots in common between the two characters on top of the fact that one is called Devil and the other thinks he is the son of the Devil, but they are still distinct) Sorry for my ramble, I just needed to share
I was looking through the list of Grammy winners. I saw this song won for Best Metal Performance. I decided to check it out. I think I'll be listening to more Ghost. I love it.
+Mikey the crazy band lover I love how theatrical they are. You should listen to Meliora in it's entirety, then check out their first album, Opus Eponymous. If you like the more theatrical sound like I do, also listen to their second album Infestissumam. It's a bit stranger than the other two, but it's my favorite.
@t r If you had to ask that question you need to go back to why do you listen to it in the first place. It's not about how you sound or how violent you scream. That's why I'm talking about their concept in particular. The ideology behind an alternate/reverse church or religionism, is dark and mysterious, and twisted, and metal likes to keep it that way. Talking about how Emeritus gets the attention of people just like how the Pope does the same thing but vice versa. Music wise they use the same elements the church uses too
@t r nobody said Ghost was original. Besides, bands ripoff one another and that’s fine. Metal heads dont bitch about it. Black metal bands put out make ups and upside down crosses and pentagrams and nobody gives a shit about them even if its old and “unoriginal”. If u got a problem with Ghost just dont listen bro its that easy.
@@DEE-jk3rb While I am not one of the types who unabashedly hates Ghost and I actually like some of their stuff and I consider Ghost metal to a certain extent, something isn’t metal just because they have a dark concept or dress up in spooky attire. There are plenty of other genres that can cover dark and disturbing themes too. If Katy Perry started wearing corpse paint at her concerts she’d still be a pop artist. Metal is a genre of music with a specific sound in order to be metal you have to play metal.
Not so positive in the long term when you consider what it actually means. "I know you aren't sick. I'm sure the doctor doesn't know shit about your health."
@@indigoaspectvisuals4371 I think it goes one layer deeper than that actually, "I'm pretty sure you're not sick, and this Doctor isn't even actually a Doctor. And he's trying to take your money. Oh and also there's no evidence that you're even sick at all."
@@CaptainKylan I can understand this perspective. Except for the "no evidence that you're sick" part. Humans are pretty messed up. Yeah, we have our good parts, but also bad(death, pain, we hurt ourselves and others, we mess up the planet etc.) I like to believe that we are capable of overcoming our lower nature, but to each their own I guess. Also, about the money part, I'm talking *spirituality* not *religion*
@@indigoaspectvisuals4371 I can appreciate that. I'm not spiritual in any way, so I suppose this just comes down to a difference in values. Which is fine, nothing you've said is wrong at all. I would, however, try to push the idea that Ghost's message is probably more anti-religion than it is anti-spiritual, considering the way they portray their band as a sort of religious congregation led by a pope. So my interpretation was focused more on the institution of religion which consistently convinces you that there is something wrong with you of which the only cure is the religion that is telling you that you're broken in the first place. But hey, I appreciate your input! Always good to get more perspectives on interpretive analysis.
+theMONSTERaddict423 There was more to 80s metal than glam and thrash. Mercyful Fate, Candlemass, etc. weren't glam or thrash. I think of Ghost as being more influenced by 70s bands (Blue Oyster Cult seems to be the popular point of reference) with a bit of a modern update, but I can see hear a little Mercyful Fate in some of their songs, and that band started and peaked in the 80s.
TerminatorJesse I mean that most bands will make you pay for their singles, and some people I know have been downloading this from youtube when they could achieve better quality audio from the official website download :)
The Whiteheart I have to disagree. Many bands even share their entire albums for free these days. Of course if you want to support the band then you buy their music, no brainer.
Steven Lornie Otherwise they would just be "that other Satanic Metal band", which theres about 50 or so other major bands like that xD. These guys are about as close to Classic Rock as artists can be these days
It's hard to describe what it felt like listening to this song for the first time. For a long time now I'd seen pictures of Papa Emeritus and thought it'd just be some band trying to rip off King Diamond. Man was I totally fucking wrong. This song sent chills down my spine and hearing the vocals start in this track about broke my neck. I didn't really know how to feel about it, but I knew the more I listened the more I liked it. This band is so incredible and unique. I can't wait to learn their history and hear all of their albums now.
+stonedome93 Yeah! The first time I saw and heard Ghost I was like "WTF?" They felt familiar, but also new and fresh, and very unique.Have you learned by now that Papa I, II and III are brothers? Born only three months apart. =3
Revenet42 Hehe, you know how it is with fans. Some just like the music, while some go all crazy. The important thing is to have fun, so neither is wrong. Heck, I even like that there are people who doesn't like or even hate the music I like. That just means that we are different, and different is fun! ^^
I still remember when this songa came out for the very first time and we were all like "wow this is awesome" and now Ghost won a Grammy because of this master piece. That escalated real quick.
I love how diabolical this song is. This incredible heavy, powerful, driving presence just looming constantly, all behind this gentle, almost soothing and sympathetic facade. This evil presence trying to gently coax a wayward soul from safety under the veil of understanding and acceptance.
I heard this song for the first time while listening to the radio in 2015. I was 14 and just getting into heavier rock at the time. While a few songs on air here and there caught my attention, nothing truly struck me quite like Cirice. I still get chills to this day listening to it. I can't believe I waited so long to really listen to their other songs, but I've been listening to Ghost nonstop for the past few months. This band is truly a work of art.

Not true. It's because this song is more radio friendly. And reaches a bigger audience. This song you could show to your grandparents and they would tolerate it. Slipknot they would say "turn that satan shit off!"
and dont get me started on their actual showmanship these guys are amazing and so visually appeling just saw them last night and man it was like watching a convination of phantom of the opera and my chemical romance when they first started
I love how they wanted to focus a little more on the guitar with this album since they felt the keyboards got a lot of the spotlight on the infestissumam album
Definitely an example of how useful mixing and good recording equipment is in making music. Those drums are thunderous and that guitar tone has the right kind of crunch to it to really set this song's mood and energy where you want it to be. Good stuff 👍
[CIRICE - LYRICS] I feel your presence amongst us You cannot hide in the darkness Can you hear the rumble? Can you hear the rumble that's calling? I know your soul is not tainted Even though you've been told so Can you hear the rumble? Can you hear the rumble that's calling? I can feel the thunder that's breaking in your heart I can see through the scars inside you A candle casting a faint glow You and I see eye to eye Can you hear the thunder? How can you hear the thunder that's breaking? Now there is nothing between us From now our rood is eternal Can't you see that you're lost? Can't you see that you're lost without me? I can feel the thunder that's breaking in your heart I can see through the scars inside you Can't you see that you're lost without me? I can feel the thunder that's breaking in your heart I can see through the scars inside you'
Helder Machado Thank you for lyric! Just some corrections. It's not tempted it's tainted. And it's not whom. its gloom or glow. From now our rood is eternal, can't really hear what this line is. But I think it's For thy work is eternal.
Eduardo Díaz Since "Circie" means church in old english, I feel like this is supposed to be a love song from Satan to his church. Like a bride of antichrist kinda thing.
Lyrically speaking, this reminds me a lot of N.I.B. by Black Sabbath: Both are disguised as love songs, but when reading between the lines, it seems like they're about a poor soul being tempted by someone, with Sabbath talking about being persuaded by the devil, with Ghost, some sort of pope. In a way, the songs are almost like the polar opposites of one story.
Someone should come along and make a song about being tempted by these figures and the psychological strain from the pressure. Anyone wanna help me? Lol
@@fishndive7227 Sabbath are not satanists, Ozzy literally says "God bless you all." Every 2 minutes on stage, and their songs about the devil all show the devil as something bad. Ghost are not satanists, Tobias uses christian and satanic imagery for comedy.
The dark, eerie heaviness of the verses against the gentle melodicism of the refrain, and the way they come together for one final statement of power abd understanding... masterful songwriting. Just impeccable.

I love how the talent in this song alone is greater than the talent put into entire pop albums released today. Just goes to show you that 80's-inspired metal actually required talent from musicians, not just shock value and tired patterns.
Ghost always have a catchy part in all of their song! I've played this song like thousand times already , and I always sing out loud that part too hahah
I'll never understand why people hate on ghost because they aren't "real metal" or because they aren't screaming. Their music is beautiful either way in my opinion, and I like that I can appreciate the songs fully that way
My best friend tells me "man, I wanted to like Ghost because they look like they should sound really badass but they suck." And i just have never felt so offended in my life.
I'm a ghost fan, pretty diehard. I've loved them for two years. I've recently found a love for this song and have been playing it all week. Tonight I was sitting in my room with the lights off (closet light was on) and I was listening to this song. I have a habit of closing my eyes and reaching my arm + hand out and mouthing to "don't you know that your lost... don't you know that your lost, without me". Well, tonight I did that again as I always do and my vision when black, heart sank and everything went cold. And I felt something touch my arm. If you've ever had sleep paralysis, that's pretty much what it felt like. (When I say my vision went black, my eyes were closed but there was a small amount of light reflecting into my eyes witch made it look brighter, and it suddenly went away) I immediately ripped off my headphones and started gasping for air. 10/10 would do it again. Thank you Ghost
listening to them is fine til youre in auto play and it starts playing that satanic song like 7 times in 40 mins, like bruh i didnt listen the first time im not now
Same. Ghost scratches that particular itch that's been bothering me for months. They're like the twisted, satanic child of Blue Oyster Cult and Sabbath.
When I was about to be a sophomore in high school almost eight years ago, I was introduced to this song by way of the best TH-cam ad I have ever seen before or since then. I listened to the whole song as an ad, then went to listen to it again. I don't even remember what sort of video I was about to watch, but I got introduced to Ghost instead and loved it. My mom and stepdad soon came to love Ghost as well, and they took me to see Ghost open for Iron Maiden in the summer two years later.
There's a lot European influence in their music, but given they're from Europe, that's understandable. A lot of Euro metal bands tend to swing more towards the 'power' side of metal, with powerful vocals, a nice melody, and driving drums. It's fantastic.
You don't need to scream to be metal. This is a unique and in my opinion, beautiful approach... It reaches me more to understand what the hell you're saying and what I'm listening to lol
BadKidAdvil I love their music, I am SO buying meliora on august 29th! this song is just so sweet that I listen to it every now and again (about twice a week!)
A friend of mine really likes this band (he's always wearing a Ghost t-Shirt) as a lover of many genres and good music I can see why now. listened to a couple of songs so far and I can say they're great!
This song made me realize I wasn't alone on the path that I've been on and I need not to be hiding but be more of a very good positive person who has no reason to be angry at the world but use my emotional energy to my advantage to do my will instead of letting my stress level eat me up
Honestly it makes me feel a little guilty listening to them. Their music is enchanting and seductive on another level. I don't know what it is but it feels like a guilty pleasure, so good yet so dirty haha! That's the best way i can put it for me.

Ironically, this song is the reference of the main antagonist's stand in one of my Jojo's tabletop rpg, and the man's state of mind is not very clear (he claims to be the antichrist yet it is unclear if he has a split personality like Diavolo, if he truly believed to do good when we first saw him as an ally, if he played with everyone all along, if he got possessed .....) so seeing someone with a Jojo picture under that song evokes a lot to me, especially when that song relates to someone who got killed by Diavolo (lots in common between the two characters on top of the fact that one is called Devil and the other thinks he is the son of the Devil, but they are still distinct)
Sorry for my ramble, I just needed to share

I was looking through the list of Grammy winners. I saw this song won for Best Metal Performance. I decided to check it out.
I think I'll be listening to more Ghost. I love it.
+Mikey the crazy band lover I love how theatrical they are. You should listen to Meliora in it's entirety, then check out their first album, Opus Eponymous. If you like the more theatrical sound like I do, also listen to their second album Infestissumam. It's a bit stranger than the other two, but it's my favorite.
I heard a bit from Infestissumam and I loved it.

Grammy's Metal...superb!
Metal or not, Ghost's concept is a lot more metal than any other bands.
PS. The intro riff is heavy as fuck
@t r Which means they're doing it right.
@@HOXiFiRE I agree and my point wasnt about them wearing dark stuff or how they portray it. It was about their music and ideology behind
"I know your soul is not tainted
Even though you've been told so"
the most positive message of Satanism
If people understood the Esoteric side of faiths, they wouldn't need such validation.
Classic 80's metal has returned and it is getting recognition. I am a happy man.
This isn't Glam or Thrash so no.
John's right. This gives me a very mercyful fate type of feel.
Yah, right, suddenly alf is human
+John Riddles definitely candlemass
In case some of you guys haven't realized, Ghost are offering this single as a free download on their website... free... wow, wasn't expecting that.
The Whiteheart Welcome to the internet.
The Whiteheart yeah one song free then the rest will be $15
TerminatorJesse I guess I don't follow many bands that give away free stuff unfortunately aha. But yeah I'll definitely be buying this on release.

YoursTruly_GTG thats beauty of Ghost. They avoid every satanic heavy metal cliché when it involves music.

Lol
Ghosts isnt some sort of Pope its satan bruh they're literally a satanic group
I've seen someone saying that this is basically a cult leader trying to lure someone to their cult
@@fishndive7227 Sabbath are not satanists, Ozzy literally says "God bless you all." Every 2 minutes on stage, and their songs about the devil all show the devil as something bad. Ghost are not satanists, Tobias uses christian and satanic imagery for comedy.
