Hey Phil, long time subscriber. " I've talked too much ".... no way. Your advice, opinion and sense of humour as well as your turning make it all worthwhile. Don't stop turning, or talking.❤
Wow, thanks, Jon! 😊
Another masterpiece, Phil! By the way, you’re not talking too much, you’re teaching the rest of us. You help a lot of us newbies with your tips. Thank you!
Haha, well, I guess I'm sensitive to the ones that say, "shut up and turn!" LOL!
@@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop I had many teachers that told me, " you can't listen if your mouth is open!!" If they would be quiet and listen to you they would learn a lot! Thanks for teaching us. I've learned different techniques from you and a few others that definitely help me turn better. I really enjoy your conversations with the camera on what to do!
Lookie here the two turners I never miss right here.
@@ljgault thank you but I’m definitely not worthy of the title, “turner”.
Yet…😉
Phil is just spreading knowledge and safety. Never talks to much
I really appreciate that you remind us every time to put our face shield and mask on. Keep us safe.
Always! 😀
Phil, that’s what I like about your videos. I learn! I don’t know anything about woodturning. You talk us through step by step! Thanks! God bless!💙💜😁🙏❗️
Cool! Thank you, Cindy! 😊
I agree! Phil, you definitely don't talk too much! You're very informative and aren't just taking to hear yourself. I appreciate your tips and tricks! Another beautiful piece!
I appreciate that, Tracey, thank you! 😊
That mesquite is truly gorgeous. Many decades ago, more than I care to admit to. I was a boy in my grandfather's shop, learning from one of the best. Of all the things that he taught me using a wood lathe was one of my favorite things to do with him. As I got older and other things took priority, the lathe slipped away. Grandpa has been gone a long time now. I ran across your videos a few years ago. They brought back a lot of memories that I didn't even realize had been forgotten. They are the reason that I bought my harbor freight lathe and later my powermatic. I can't get on my lathe now without saying hi to grandpa and remembering him thru that boys eyes. Thank you doesn't seem like enough, but thank you so much.
What a great story, Pilgrim, thank you very much! 😊
you never talk too much. You toss gems for us. Thanks! The bowl was wonderful.
Thank you very much, Casseniette! 😊
Phil, I really enjoy when you pass on your knowledge to us. It's not too much talking. That is such a great piece! The grain is absolutely gorgeous! Another great work of art Phil!!👍🙂
Thanks, Ron! 😊
Hey Phil, I'm here for the lecture as much as the demonstration. You sharing (talking) the reason behind your methods gives me the understanding I need to better deploy the methods you use.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge "For all to enjoy"!
Great, thank you! 😊
Phil keep turning and talking ALWAYS enjoy ALL of your videos!!!!
Haha, thanks, Terry, but you might not say that after my new video in about 15 minutes! 😊
Looks like a Whirlpool in the bottom of the bowl!! Couldn't be any better!! NEXT!!!
Hi from Northern California!! See you next time!!
I love Northern California! Thanks, Colleen! 😊
Love everything about this bowl, Phil. Especially love the sculpted rim of the bowl. Mother nature is a master carver. You beautifully showcased her work. Thanks!
Great, thank you, Greg! 😊
Phil, you can't rush learning. Learning, to me, is worth the extra few minutes.
Thank you, Morgan! 😊
The video on the woodworm screw is brilliant. I used to have lots of issues with my screw until I watched it. Guess what no more issues. Thanks Phil.
Good to know, Steve, thank you! 😊
I second this comment. I also had some issues before this video. Phil teaches the right way again!!!
Just before you said you couldnt see any critters i saw a turtle poking his nose out the water!😄
I love these instructional videos Phil, no such thing as too much talking from you.
Another beautiful piece of wood turned into a beautiful bowl, thanks Phil.👍
Not too much talking, Jude? We'll see how you feel about that after next weeks video! LOL! 😊
Phil you can’t talk too much! You share so much interesting knowledge that we all appreciate. This is a spectacular piece. There is so much natural beauty. It is a gorgeous bowl. I have so many favorites!
Glad you enjoyed it, Susanne! 😊 If you like talking you're gonna love next weeks video, if I can ever get it edited. Been working on it for four days. LOTS of talking!

This sure is a beautiful piece Phil, really nice and great to watch you work your magic. I don't see any faces but there big ole eye on the inside staring at you! All the best phil, look forward to the next one 👍👍
I see the eye! Thanks! 😊
I think mesquite wood has the prettiest grain of all the woods I’ve seen you turn … almost rivals oak. This piece is very, very nice and I’d be proud to display it! Barbara
I'm glad you like it, Barbara, thank you! 😊
Mesquite is a joy to turn. I like the knobs and such like the ones you saved. Great job and a cute bowl.
Yes! Thank you, Garth! 😊
Hi Phil this piece of Mesquite wood is absolutely stunning. The grain is marvellous and it looks smooth after you sanded it. The finish you put on makes it look awesome it allows the grain and marks to stand out. It has lots of character. Thank you for aĺl the explanation of things you are doing and questions people asked you, I find it very interesting and enjoyable. You have turned a magnificent dish it's really really outstanding I like the color of the wood. Thank you for a fantastic video, liked the before and after shots it shows all your hard work. Take care Amanda xx
Thank you kindly, Amanda! Such a great comment! 😊
You’re not only a great turner, but also a good teacher!
Pretty piece! Thanks Phil!!
Thank you, Kelly! 😊
Hi Phil, I have 2 Sandoflex wheels purchased from Super Grit, with added 120 and 180 grit refills, total landed cost just over NZ $300, But consider our $ is worth only about 60 cents to US$. They arrived about May 2023, and I am very grateful to have them through watching your videos. Many thanks George Lomas,NZ
I'm so glad you are enjoying them, George. I agree, they are worth just about any amount! 😊
What a beauty Phil!! Mesquite is such a beautifully grained wood. I personally don't feel that you talk too much at all. There is so much to learn from master woodturners like yourself and every bit of it is invaluable to beginners like myself. There are few turner's in my area here in Ohio, so please feel free to ramble on, every tidbit is appreciated. Thank you for sharing your video and knowledge.
Glenn
Thank you very much, Glenn! 😊
There's a baby bunny in the bottom! Beautiful job again!
Neat, thanks, Kristi! 😊
Really enjoyed the teaching you did today. I never get tired of learning from you.
Thanks, Monte! 😊
Yet another great piece Phil . Love those Golds and Bronzes and especially like that taller side wing .
Appreciate all the extra tuition this video too. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it, Jim, thanks! 😊
Thank You Phil, Thank You Ted Helvig...Mesquite is nice. That finish is always wonderful. I only saw one critter in the finish product at 24:55 (but that one was holding the bowl, ha ha). Until next week Phil... TM
LOL! And he had long blond hair and blue eyes! 😊
Another beautious piece Phil. I envy your supply of mesquite. It sure is gorgeous and you find ways to make it even better!
Haha, not much of a supply, Tom, I'm out! Thanks, buddy! 😊
🙋♂️🏴 Hi Phil another beautiful bowl created from a knobby piece of wood. With all your safety hints turning tips and product information it's not surprising at all why you have so many subscribers. Thanks Phil

Thanks, Robert! 😊
Phil, you never talk “too” much! I love peering over your shoulder while you work and listening to what you say. It’s as close to being in your shop while you work as I’m likely to get. Another lovely bowl! Where do you find the soft sanding pads?? The only type I’m able to get have a slightly soft feel, but nothing like yours. Thanks for the chat and sharing your work!
Cheers, Rick
In next weeks video, Rick, I'm going to discuss all the things I use and where I get them. 😊 Those come from here: woodturnerscatalog.com/collections/sanding-discs-pads/products/apprentice-hook-and-loop-backing-pad-2-inch
Remarkable, Phil! The knowledge you’re sharing is invaluable - thank you.

Thanks Phil. I can imagine it being time consuming but you do a great job. I really enjoy your videos.
Glad you like them, Tom, thank you! 😊
Phill really enjoyed the more interactive (teaching) video this week. While I guess I am no longer new to turning (5 more years now) there are steps in the turning process that are sometimes taken for granted. Your additional explanations in this video, has been enlightening and very helpful. Keep it up. Thank you. Dan
Thank you so much, Dan! 😊
Beautiful grain in this one, Phil, you've really done that wood a good service!
Thank you kindly 😊
I love it.
Maybe an otter laying on its back.
Again thank you Phil

😊
One of the loveliest bowls I've seen. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, thank you, Michael! 😊
That is beautiful wood and another masterful turning! I enjoyed the explanations too.
Thanks, Ryan! 😊
Howdy, Phil.
I appreciate your tips on the woodworm screw and mounting the project piece. "Flat, not almost flat, flat." It just works better when it's done correct. Live center, tool rest all good stuff. Now for the bowl, excellent just excellent. What can I say? Excellent! Love your videos.
You are so kind, Ray, thank you! 😊
Mesquite has beautiful grain! Love it.
😊
Real pretty Phil love that grain and the. Contrast between the light and dark wood. Hope you kept those turning shavings for your smoker Blessings catch you next week have a great weekend
Glad you like it, thanks! 😊
When you were showing the piece of wood on the turn table right away in the beginning of the video I instantly saw a critter face.😂
Cool! 😊
As always, absolutely gorgeous. You are a true artist.
Thanks, Gary! 😊
Phil that’s stunning. Can you put that aside for me please…for when you finally decide to bless us with your creations and sell them. 😊
Will do, MandyRay! 😊
Phil, A beautiful turning, and a very nice video! Keep talking!!!
More to come! 😊
The Shady acres deal is already up at Super Grit. Thanks. Also you are on against the State of the Union. You're far far more entertaining than that! Beautiful bowl Phil. And gosh that mesquite is gorgeous. Well done. And keep talking. You're easy to listen to and always impart wisdom.
Very cool, Steve, thank you! 😊
That Mesquite is some kind of gorgeous. Never turned it but would love to.
And thanks for all the tips. Found out I hadn't really been seating my wood worm screw properly. Hasn't been a problem. Betty lucky than good but now I know.
Keep on keeping on my friend!
Good to know, Bob, thanks! 😊
That's a gorgeous bowl. Something you can look at for hours and still see new things. Also, you are so right about the center mass Phil. I do a lot of segmented bowls, and especially on the inside, you have to cut REALLY slowly - there is no center mass. If you try to cut like a normal bowl it will howl and vibrate and look awful. I've even tried wrapping the bowl in a lot of Rubber bands to help damp it down. That kind of works, but you still have to work it really slow with super fin cuts.
Cool, thanks, Michael! 😊
Love the grain, color and bark! Job well done!
Glad you like it, thank you! 😊
Bravo Phil, love that mesquite bowl, wonderful grain. Can't wait to hear about sand o flex bundle. Thanks Phil....Dan
Thanks, Dan! Apparently available on their website, now! 😊
Nice.
Very pretty Phill. It does look buttery smooth. 💕
It is, thanks, Vickie! 😊
That really looks fantastic Phil. I love the shape. I love the colour of the grain. It’s beautiful in fact, I love everything about it.. it’s not too big so could fit in anybody’s house including mine😉
Sure enough, Martin, it'll fit anywhere! 😊
Thanks for all the wonderful advice! The bowl is gorgeous, as always. Love the live edge!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching, Carol! 😊
Stunning Phil, just stunning.
Take care my friend and really great tips about the worm screw.
Cheers, Huw
Thanks a lot, Huw! 😊
An outstanding piece of art, stunning work. Thanks for sharing your work with us.🌿 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thanks for watching and commenting, Rob! 😊
Great tutorial and info Mr. Anderson! And as always a great work of art! Always watching and learning from you!
Thank you, Cap! 😊
Nice mesquite piece, Phil! There is some awesome character in some of that grain.
For sure, Billy! It grows in Texas. Any around you? 😊
Very nice looking live exge bowl you made Phil. I live in South Texas where mesquite is abundant including my ranch. I have a sawmill in which I mill alot of oak, pecan, hackberry, cedar, mesquite as well as a few others. Really blessed to see amazing looking lumber made from my own trees on a daily basis. I just happen to be turning a live edge mesquite crotch bowl today when this came across my feed.
Cool, sounds like you are all set! Enjoy! 😊
That's one beautiful piece Phil .Regards Al
😊
What a wonderful bowl this turned out to be Phil. The raw piece of wood at the start seemed to scream out that it wanted to get on your lathe & show what it was made of & the beauty within. In your SO capable hands it was an outstanding success. The shape of the finished piece & the grain are just mesmerising & beautiful. You are an artist & master of your craft mate. Might be late to view your next video, I go into hospital for a short visit to have my Right elbow cleaned out, the Ulna nerve moved & my right thumb fused but I'll catch you soon. Cheers, Don from South Aust.
Oh, man, that does not sound like fun, Don! I wish for you a smooth operation and quick, painless recovery. 😊
Pretty Purty Phil! Good job as always!
Thanks, Kevin! 😊
Beautiful, I live in Arizona and love Mesquite as well as Ironwood. Thank you for sharing this.
Both are great woods, Jack! 😊
The grains are beautiful. Another beautiful piece of artwork. Thanks again Phil for sharing with your TH-cam family
Thank you, Doug! 😊
Phil, love your work. I am an old woodworker mostly did turnings for balustrades, knewal posts and large columns. And general cabinet and furniture pieces. Now I just build for charity auctions (Make-A-Wish) friends, neighbors and family. Not in business and never charge. They provide the wood.
Which takes me to this: my neighbor recently came upon a downed Persian Ironwood tree in Scappoose, Oregon. It is native to the Eastern mountains of Iran and this tree seedling came to America in the late 1800’s.
It was a mighty big tree. I have several large cuts of 40” diameter and 6” to 9” thickness. It took 3 of us to move these into my shop. Yikes!
Anyhow, I also received a dozen or so tree limbs of 6” to 10” diameter. The wood is very dense with cream color, pink and medium to dark brown accents. Just beautiful. Oh, and the bark has greens, yellows, chocolate - just wonderful. I would love to send you a good sampling for you to turn. Tell me what to do and I will ship a piece to you. Thank you. I really enjoy your work.
