Hey guys! There are some inconsistencies and errors throughout the video so here are some of those corrections:
The first five weapons could be interchangeably but yes ice probably was first. I just wanted to tell a fun story at the beginning and that’s what I landed on.
Bananas we eat now have been genetically modified so the bananas now do not look like what they used to look like so the second banana would not be first (Thanks @keeperofcats642 for letting me know).
Jarate was NOT made by the Sniper but by Saxton Hale so this weapon would be placed about 20 years sooner same with the Cozy Camper (Thanks @Rabi2in).
The Eureka Effect and Third Degree do NOT have Weta Workshop real life counter parts (Thanks @thisbox).
The Nostro Napalmer is based off of the movie Alien which released in 1979 so to be consistent it would go there instead (Thanks @jjurss7263).
The candy cane is NOT a J for Jesus but rather someway to hang a sugary treat from the tree. Still released in the same year though (Thanks @ghoullynx7744 for making me go back and do the research but you could've said it nicer☹).
I will keep updating if there are more things wrong. Thanks for watching the video! If you have any questions on my research PLEASE LOOK AT THE GOOGLE DOC WITH THE INFO!!!

TH-cam did something weird to my OG comment so this is a repost
10:42 How could they have been used in the late 16th century if they were created in the 1700s? The 16th century is the 1500s.
13:51 Peg legs existed long before 1860, according to Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peg_leg
37:38 In terms of actual functionality rather than cosmetic effect I'd say the batsaber may as well be a toy lightsaber since it behaves the same as the bat otherwise. If that's not a convicing argument then I'd still say it should be 1977 (release year of Star Wars) to be consistent with the Nostromo Napalmer having Alien's release year.

Second banana is debatable, while bananas have of course been around for a while, the modern banana is very different from naturally occurring bananas, as they’ve been bred by humans to be larger and have much smaller seeds, so spysicle is hands down the oldest. Great video though

See that was my line of thinking too until I got to the tools section of the video. His focus is on the creation of these weapons and on their identity. The Fire Axe, despite it clearly being the modern Fire Axe, is considered a normal axe in the timeline. It retains its basic identity without getting lost in the details. The same occurred with the Escape Plan and the Equalizer, both being lumped as just pickaxes despite the variations in design and purpose. This isn't applied 100% equally to every item, but he's human, and there's a lot of items.

@@llennoxyt Oh I just realized I left out my opinion on that lol, no I completely support what you did for this video. I think it's a matter of what approach you, the creator, would prefer. I liked the video, and I'd still like it no matter what ruleset you would have applied to the timeline, since it is meant to be entertaining.
If you're *looking* for criticism, a suggestion I have would be that no matter what philosophy you apply in videos like this, I'd say a little talk at the beginning to explain the general rule(s) you applied for the subject of the video could be welcome to make viewers understand your process. Regardless of all that, it's not something that hampers the video for me. I love what you do as a creator, and I hope you keep having fun doing this.

    Releases based on game lore:
    1. The Maul goes in 2170, as it's a Promotional Weapon for Red Faction: Armageddon.
    2. Vita-Saw is actually a Little Sister's Needle from Bioshock, which takes place in 1960, BUT! Andrew Ryan began Rapture in 1945, took people in in 1946, and finished in 1951. Brigid Tenenbaum, the caretaker of the Little Sisters, came in 1946, putting creation between '46 and '51! I'd go with '51 to be safe.
    3. The Nostromo Napalmer was made in 2122 by Dennis Parker while aboard the USCSS Nostromo.
    4. The Sharp Dresser was used in Assassin's Creed since 465 BCE, when it was used to kill King Xerxes I.
    5. Deus Ex's promo weapons (Widowmaker, Diamondback, Machina) are all made in the 2020s! Putting them relatively recent, actually.
    6. I'd argue that Portal 2 is actually 52010. Which puts Portal 1 during the Half-Life incident, but not Portal 2.
    7. Unmentioned was the Pip-Boy, a promotional item for Fallout New Vegas. RobCo was started in 2042, so, 2042. Easy, as all tech from there has Pip-Boy functions.
    8. Conscientous Objector could be anywhere from the Late-1800s (modern mounting brackets for signs) to the modern era depending on what's on the sign. All depends on when the porn was released.

Portal 2 is confirmed many times by the devs and in guidebooks to be somewhere around 50000+ years in the future. However it doesn't matter, as Wheatley was not made in portal 2, but instead made by aperture science employees before the events of portal 1 as she says the scientists attached him to her once. Placing him possibly in 2010, or earlier.

As any rotary machine gun, the bullets will leave at a given point as the barrels rotate. If you take a closer look on the model of the Huo Long Heater, you can see that there's a single exit hole in the center of the cylinder. This will make it simply impossible for the HLH to be the same type as the minigun. Since the structure around the barrel looks like a heatsink of sorts, a closer approximation would be a m1919, though, there might be earlier designs with the same barrel shroud.
29:39 Picture shown is a dan wesson kodiak 10mm, a M1911 variant, not a revolver. The ambassador's design is much closer to the taurus raging bull.

Very nice video overall! I would however shift the Loch'N'Load to 1951, as it is pretty much just an M79 with an extra barrel - something that could easily have been done with the materials and science of that day, if it wouldn't be too bulky and cumbersome for a normal soldier to use.
As for how Demoman manages to fit three grenades into two barrels... eh, must be some Degroot magic involved in it.
I'd also move the Grenade Launcher to either 1980 (when the Milkor MGL was designed, and is a rotary grenade launcher that is the inspiration for the Demoman's stock GL) or ~1944 at the earliest, as that is when the Kulakov Revolver Grenade Launcher prototype was being experimented with. Never seen anything of that aside from a blurry picture with a cut-down Mosin Nagant rifle as part of the firing mechanism, so it's a bit of an odd thing...
Saying the MGL is the closest real-life counterpart to the Stickybomb Launcher (and variants) is probably the fairest way to place them. No complaints from me there, since the Sticky launchers are very... imaginative, when it comes to their function.
Another change would be to move Spy stock Revolver to 1955, when the Colt Python revolver entered the market. Swing-out cylinder revolvers had been around since 1858 (patented in France and Britain at the end of December in 1858 by Devisme), but the Colt Model 1889 (from 1889, unsurprisngly) is the first one of such to also utilize a double-action trigger mechanism.

The Gros Michel is the breed of Banana commonly sold from 1870 to 1950 according to Google. It was replaced by the Cavendish Banana around the mid century because of a massive disease which effected nearly all Gros Michel bananas on earth. Is Heavy's banana a Gros Michel or a Cavendish? TF2 takes place sometime in the 60s for the most part, so perhaps his big ol' fruit is an older type of banana we dont see much these days. 🤔

Doing a quick research I discover that sliced bread was invented in 1912. That could mean Heavy's sandvich could not be invented until then, but then again, you could just slice the bread with a knife. So i will give the benefit of the doubt to the 1800s

Easy mistake to make, and no biggie, but I just wanna point out that "Stielhandgranate" doesn't mean throwable hand grenade, it's more like.. stem hand grenade? you know like the stem of an apple? Anyways, it basically means hand grenade on a stick and the stick is used as a force multiplier to be able to throw it further so throwable hand grenade is a good description regardless

    • @llennoxyt
      @llennoxyt  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

So rocket launchers have been around since whenever time period I said, but the design of the original was not “created” in a sense until the release of quake.
In tf2 we see that the batsaber disintegrates enemies upon killing them so we know the batsaber is not just a model lightsaber but a REAL lightsaber. That being said, a real working lightsaber was created in 2020. Does that make sense? I can try and explain it a different way if need be
