Baby ferrets now 7.5 weeks old

- I have now moved them into the ferret penthouse, to give them more room to run around. They are getting bigger than their mother.
They will be able to go to new homes from Thursday 30th of June.
I will be keeping 1 hob and one Jill off this litter to add to my own team of workers.
Man, that's a really nice DIY pen you've got set up there.
Great little kits. You can really see all their different personalities as you pick them up and they are all so excited to see you (and chew on your boots). They absolutely love being around you whether you have food for them or not. A testament to your fine care!

I love your set up! Sister use to have a ferret named Finster, after "Finster baby" on Bugs Bunny cartoon. He was so smart. Collected things which was like he was thinking "I could use that!" We'd find the strangest 'stash' under the couch!
I love them how adorable !! And their little noises are soothing and putting me to sleep 😍
They are so cute! I love ferrets so much, they are such sweet little angels if treated nicely and so pretty too! And I'm sure you take such good care of them based on how they all just came running to you!

We had ferrets 15 years ago, I still miss their little "dook dook" clucking sounds. Adorable babies!

Aw , such great videos of your kits. I adopted 2 ferrets from a rescue centre 2 years ago and we sadly just lost our hob, we didn’t know how old he was but we think he was about 8 :( so we’ve jut adopted 3 kits from another rescue to keep our original Jill happy and she loves them. Such bundles of fun , they make such great pets.

I bred two of my own unfortunately one dident take but the other sandy Jill had litter of 11 they were 5 weeks on Monday and all doing great

i am wanting to get a couple this year and am currently doing my homework on them etc. i'm good friends with a few local farmers so i have plenty of burrows to have a go at, it's just the ferrets them selfies that i know little about, what time of year to get them and who to get them from, i am also a yorkshire man but completely new to this!

If you get young ferrets then this years should be ready around july onwards. They need to be at least 8 weeks old when they leave their mum. You will be able to work them from September onwards. If possible get them from working stock but its not essential.

Yes ferrets bite, and if they mean it yes it hurts and they will draw blood. But if ferrets are handled from an early age such as 5 or 6 weeks onwards they should be fine and won't bite

Marina this is the UK we don't have any good weather. Yes this is outdoors, there is a roof on it, so its just a big hutch really.

During winter I give them shredded newspaper for their bedding. As for extreme heat we don't really get it in the UK. But you can freeze plastic bottles of water and put in the hutch for them to lay on. Also you can use fans to blow air around to keep them cool.

Hi can you tell me what is wrong I have bread 2 ferrets 1 day apart and it’s been 48 days now and they haven’t had babies but they look pregnant and have grown nips is the still a possibility tha they might have kid’s pls reply thanks
They could have had a phantom pregnancy. It's what happens when they mate and don't have kits, for whatever reason, they still go through all the motions of being pregnant .

How old are the kits when you introduce them to the adult ferrets?
They should be at least 8 weeks old. They shouldn't be leaving their mother until then.

@@shotgun6237 depends what you want the size for. I don't think the ferrets will be bothered. Its more about the enrichment they have in the space. They sleep about 18 hours a day. So don't worry too much about providing more space.

How old will the kits be when they stop suckling from the mother?
They are weaned at about 5-6 weeks old they will start eating meat before their eyes are open at 4-5 weeks old. They can leave their mother at 8 weeks old at the earliest.
Rural Pest Control Whitwell ok thanks I also got another question a couple of ferreters have said to me that milk will scour the ferret and what preferred meat do you feed your kits when they start to eat meat
I feed mine raw rabbit, I take all the meat off the bones and mince it. I give mine goats milk not cows milk.
If I can't get a hold of rabbits because in the summertime that's when my jils start to come on season any other meat recommendtions
I shoot them over the summer. But if I don't have any rabbits, I buy them chicken wings, liver, heart and kidney. chop it all up in to inch size pieces, also raw egg is good. If you are feeding kits you can just buy them minced beef or minced turkey.

Hi sorry i know its been 3 years seen you posted this , but i would like to ask you same questions . I have a kit ( jill ) whos about 5 going on 6 weeks old just opened hes eyes yesterday , im feeding him whiskys wet cat food and between lactose milk ..... when and how should i stop him from weeing on milk and when is the right time or week ? Hes eating every 2/ 3 hrs is it normal for a kit ? Thanks and pls help me 😊
You shouldn't be feeding it cat food. It's for cats not ferrets. It should also still be with its mum until it's 8 weeks old. Cat food doesnt have enough protein content in it that a ferret requires.

@@amygili6603 you can still give lactose free milk every now and then, but I would give her fresh water. You can also add raw egg to the mince as well every now and then. Also raw chicken is good on or off the bone
