I've known this family for close to 18 years and I'll tell you something. Camera on or off, this is exactly how they are. I'm pretty sure this channel has flourished and become such a success because people just gravitate towards this kind of pure goodness and tight family love, something a lot of society is missing these days. Hope everyone has a great 2020, but especially hope The Arms Family Homestead continues killing it like they did in 2019!

I love these channels, as they remind me of when my kids were young. However I have to say Houston is an absolute joy to watch. Knowing there will be other days for racoons, I was surprised when *I* started tearing up when he cried. You are great parents, raising great kids.

You have no idea how much my husband and I enjoy your video's! We live an a very urban setting, a small backyard garden and we'll never have goats. But, my goodness we get so much from your video's. Often it's the gentle reminder/ example that reminds us to be more, I don't know grounded. Your love and enthusiasm for others, your promoting others channels, it's just always this place we can watch and turn down the volume on the crazy. Every time we watch, my husband says "he's a good guy, he's a really good guy". Best to you and yours in 2020!

I love the realness of your channel. I was brought up on a farm kinda like yours. It was grandma's house and all of us grandkids helped out and learned about life and the world out there. In my very early 50's I remember getting running water in the house! It's a different kind of person that comes from that. Thanks for reminding me about my past.
My live trap was the same way, a little WD-40 on the latch and back in the game.
Hey Houston! I'm from Canada and I recently had an unlucky day too. My dad and I were deer hunting and stumbled upon 2 legal bucks however when I went to get out of the jeep my rifle got caught on something and I got stuck so one of the deer ran away. Luckily my dad got the other but I was pretty disappointed in myself. I kept going at it and on the last week of the season I finally got my buck and I was much bigger than the others ones. So the lesson of the story is to always be hopeful because just because something doesn't work out the first time, doesn't mean I won't the next. Heck, the outcome could even be better than expected the next time. Keep at it kiddo

Thank you for reminding me how important it is to have goals. Now at 65 I find myself not looking so far ahead of myself. remembering to set goals will help motivate me to get moving. We raise meat rabbits and I also work with the hides so the grandkids can get hats and gloves that are nice and warm.

Houston has learned a very important lesson in not only trapping but in life as well. That is that nothing is gaurenteed in life and if it doesn't work out. Move on when I trap possums here in New Zealand I go out checking my traps expecting nothing and then any catch is a bonus. Your positivity is infectious. All the best for 2020

10:35 A trick I use is a stiff lightweight board about 12 inches long 6 inches wide on top of the door trigger inside the cage. I put a pile of food on the board at the end. The wood helps make sure the trap is triggered even if they don't step on the trigger. You might miss them once, but if you miss them twice they learn fast.

That will catch cats, though. Sweet baits will avoid them.

Put a golf ball over the top of the dogproof, it sparks an interest in the raccoon and stops mice from eating you bait, that’s what most likely happening with your bait getting taken.
