    We’re experiencing similar issues on the SW coast. I’ve been to the police station and reported it, hopefully it will be stopped. It’s truly amazing what a disregard for the natural environment some people have.

    • @ALochOnTheWildSide

      Not trying to say your wrong bud and I understand your frustration but it's the Loch Lomond Angling Improvement Association that are responsible for the fishing and Bailiffs on Lomond, Leven & Clyde Estuary and there is not enough of them to cover such an expanse of water although both the water borne Rangers and Countryside Rangers would both report illegal activity to the Police. The permit money goes to the Angling Association to look after these waters as best they can, the Boat Registration and Launch Fees go back into the National Park to help with Patrol Boat/Rangering/Site Maintenance etc. The Water Rangers do a fantastic job with limited resources they also whilst not being a rescue boat will often help people in distress, the Nat Park has been cutting back patrols, Rangering (and other projects) for a long time now due to budget constraints which is ultimately the Scottish Gov that decides how much money they get from the Public Purse. 🎣👍

    • @NicolasValentinScotland
      @NicolasValentinScotland  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Actually that's not true . Our fishing permit was checked about 12 years ago by a water bailiff . Apart from that I have never been in contact with park rangers , wildlife officers or Police . They are too busy playing with beavers and ringing ospreys I bet .

    • @ALochOnTheWildSide
      @ALochOnTheWildSide 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@NicolasValentinScotland Hi Nicolas - what bit is not true? The Water Bailiffs are in the employ of the Angling Association which is where your permit comes from (but maybe buy from an outlet) and as I say all the ranger patrols have been cut back (not their fault) which is why you don't see much of them, there is one wildlife Police Officer based in the National Park building in Balloch to cover a big area - they do a lot more than play with Beavers - as I say the Gov does not put enough into resources, and the Nat Park staff do a great job with what resources they have.

      @@ALochOnTheWildSide Do you think I should pay more tax to employ more Rangers and increase my £75 coarse fishing permit catch and release , no kill . Law abiding citizen are always paying for the rest and the one in control are ripping all our coins . I contacted the park authority about the location of the damn net to be told they do not deal this that . Park and fishing should be branched and work like a team . Gill nets are 50 to 100 meter long , they are easy to spot using the right approach away from the cosy dry office . I know how things work .

    Due to it's size Loch Lomond is a Public Loch. That's because there are multiple owners around The Loch. No individual can claim an all and whole exclusive title, which the law requires, to own Loch Lomond.
    The right to fish for salmon and sea trout is in multiple ownership. By agreement, LLAIA administers the salmon and seatrout fisheries and provides for the bailiffs, who are officers of the law legally appointed by Scot Gov. That's because there is no District Salmon Fishery Board in the Clyde Salmon Fishery District, which includes Loch Lomond.
    There is no Protection Order on Loch Lomond to regulate the non-migratory freshwater fisheries, for brown trout and coarse fish. There is a statutory Prohibition against fishing for eels. LLAIA does not own the right to fish for coarse fish on Loch Lomond, especially from a boat. When I was on the National Park Fish And Fisheries Forum we were informed by representatives of coarse anglers that they had taken legal advice and refused to pay LLAIA any money for their alleged "permit." Coarse fishers should call the Police on anyone selling fraudulent permits to fish. NB Salmon and Freshwater fisheries are two separate legal entities.
    Some time ago, about 2006, I submitted a Crime Report to the Procurator Fiscal/Crown Prosecution in Dumbarton against LLAIA, for poaching. Whilst there was no denial they were acting in breach of the criminal law there was no prosecution and the PF/amongst others let them off with a warning. LLAIA were doing that for a long time before I caught them in the act.
    Tight Lines!

      @@NicolasValentinScotland The Sheriff isn't "grey" last time I checked, unless anyone wants 6 months for Contempt of Court. Maybe a wee conviction will help to clear the air. That info was provided by a Sheriff and the other parties mentioned therein. There never was any "course fishing permit" on Loch Lomond until LLAIA pulled that out of the bag when the National Park started up. In 1999 the responsibility for fisheries was devolved to Scot Gov. The salmon fisheries interests lobbied to take over the freshwater fisheries under the new incoming legislation. They didn't get it. But LLAIA weren't going to be outdone so they went ahead with their phoney "course fishing permit" anyway. Looks like I'll have to submit another Crime Report to the PF. They've never owned Loch Lomond. The salmon fisheries are a separate heritable title conveying the right to fish for salmon and sea trout/migratory species.....not the ownership of riparian land or waters or wild fish therein.

      Price of coarse fishing went right up lately £75 catch and release , £10 a day and the game fishing is nowhere like it used to be . Catch and release is definitely the way forward and cracking down on the poacher needs a better approach .

    Disgusting the way people treat the country. From poaching fish to the litter everywhere else.

      Yeep , we notice the litter every day and the rest we find is sickening . This whole area generate millions of £ and it's becoming a farce .
