He was a true master. Clapton said it best about Stevie, he said him( Eric Clapton) and the rest of the European guitar players, didn't have their own sound so they had to dabble in American Blues, Gospel, rock and other styles from around the world to get their styles from. He said Stevie did one thing he just did it better than everybody else.

Yet another musician whose talent that can best be described as 'unearthly' who was unfairly taken from us much too soon.
As a Drummer who frequently plays blues music, and who has played some of Stevie's songs with my former band, I can't even begin to describe the immense sadness that often overcomes me knowing I'll never have the privilege of seeing this maestro in concert
But, I know that he's up in Heaven playing with the other legends we've lost and putting on a truly grand show for the Lord
    RIP, SRV! 🎸🎵

Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eddie Van Halen are the two reasons I picked up a guitar in 1986. Some people can inspire you to keep going for 35 years. :)
You and Crys love the top guitar players, love ya'lls reactions to all these. And I don't know if you caught it but Voodoo Chile is a Jimi Hendrix song. You can find his and watch it sometime too. Not even for a reaction necessarily, just for fun. Jimi directly influenced Stevie. And you're right about the finale - Stevie used to end his sets with this song. And he'd come back and do Jimi Hendrix's Third Stone from the Sun as an encore.

I was lucky enough to see him live right before he blew up with his song Pride & Joy. I will never forget it. He played behind his head and his back and switched from a acoustic guitar to electric and never missed a beat. He also plays really heavy gauge strings which gives him that heavy sound but those strings don't like to bend and he broke strings all the time. I think there's a video of him doing Look.At Little Sister and he broke a string and switched guitars mid song. For me he is the G.O.A.T

I'm the same age as SRV and it hit me hard when he died. I had many chances to see him live but put it off, and then it was too late. Jimi and Stevie are at the top of my list of favorite guitarists. Jimi's lyrics go: "If I don't see you no more in this world, see you in the next one and don't be late." R.I.P. Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

I am with her on this one...of all the ones you have reacted with, this one is tops. The ones where he plays behind his back, or with his teeth or does such an incredible job hot swapping guitars...are all epic in their own right, but there are have been a few other guitar players who have done something similar live to demonstrate that while extreme, it isn't unachievable. In my 50+ yrs of life, no one has captured Jimmi like this in a studio let alone live and repetitively live night after night of doing shows. There are lots and lots of people who try, but end up giving up because of how difficult it is to do and get all those parts into a single attempt, in a recognizable way, and they surely don't do it live for that would kill a performance for an audience to experience such notable failure.
