I disagree with skipping Gwennen; my approach to expedition is that I'm not chasing any specific member in a map. I'm chasing logbooks. THAT'S where the big money is. and Gwennen expeditions drop logbooks just as often as any other member. I'm less happy to see her, sure, but I'll always run her. My biggest tip would be: choose maps to run that work well with atlas content you've specced in to, and also with your build. I'm heavily invested in legion and expedition, so I like to run open maps like dunes, canyon, shore, cemetery; maps like toxic sewers are really crappy for both mechanics, so they're building up in my stash. if I was focused on, say, essences, I'd be blasting through those toxic sewers. On a further expedition note, another great tip would be: don't try and hyperoptimise. I'll just throw down explosives anywhere UNLESS I see nodes for logbook drop chance or (very rarely) duplicated runic monsters; I might try and optimise my explosive pathing in that case, but for the most part it's a matter of balancing time efficiency and reward, and spending 2 minutes carefully placing your explosives just isn't worth it in my opinion. Oh, and take care not to brick them. The obvious way would be to give them immunity to your damage, but if you give them a couple of block nodes, reduced damage taken, ailment immunity and regen you've effectively made them immune anyway.
I really, really, really, really appreciate you making sure to note that it is what is FUN and to do that, but this helps if this is your fun. Very mature, very good advice.
Ziz, this video was right on the money. It really hit some of the questions I have been struggling with about improving my currency earning, and therefore, my gearing ability. It’s always been a mystery how people can talk about earning many many divine orbs, while I’m still fighting to get my chaos count over 100.
How do I deal with backtracking for mechanics like Delirium or Breach where you are more focused on clearing than looting. I usually just blast until its over and then track back for drops, but that does add a lot of time to the map.
For delirium you don't want to backtrack, you just go clear the map as efficiently as you can and then claim the rewards at the end before leaving the map. It's more efficient this way than having to kill all monsters in the map for higher deli rewards. I usually stop at level 5 and it drops a decent amount of loot. Deli orbs are the only thing thats worth imo. Simu splinters if you're juicing your maps hard.
i try to loot while mapping and i do it most of the time but you die to often its infurating. Random ondeath effects or mobs offscreening you whenever you attempt to loot. Maybe its because i play squishy characters and use cast on death portal in corrupted 8 mod t16s, whatever its irrelevant as i dont die if i skip looting but i die if i loot. So theres a big argument to be made about not looting.
a noobie advice, i am the noob, if you are killing pretty well but are dying easily, maybe allocating the node that decrease damage enemies do by 25% but increase their HP by 50% might help in the end, i was dying too much, so i allocated that node and my map cruising become a lot better, when you are well equipped just remove it.
Thanks man, you really make the game much easier to play. I came back this league, last one was harvest, I can't find a good video on how this new atlas passive tree and "masters" of the atlas work exactly.

well yeah. "keep it for later if it's too hard" does not work. Say you are doing elemental damage and the mods rolled are "Reflects % elemental damage" or other things that are very rippy for your build. You will never run it and it will just sit in your stash forever. Way better to just scour and roll again so you can get something out of it. And it doesn't have to be just something like that. Maybe I'm running a t16 and the mods are stacking to give enemies alot of extra damage. Maybe some hinder on hit and I have no yet made myself immune to that, maybe some "player has elemental weakness", "player has -X% resistances" etc. Some combos you just know it's going to be a really bad time and then it's not worth it taking your time or dying and losing your character (or 10% of your XP at 90+ which sucks)
I'm lost, ziz made it sound like running wandering path will yield more guardian maps but it litterally turns off remnants of the past. does that mean that there is a way thats better to farm guardian maps with wandering path and without remnants of the past? if so can anyone explain how?

So question I am pretty new, I rushed to t16 and I can do t16 yellows with no problem (of course when my counters don't roll) I am running impending doom this league. And in my haste I didn't clear all the lower level maps for atlas points at this point is it worth it to alch and run those maps fast to get atlas points? I assume so but I been focusing too much on trying to get sextant from completing bosses. Still need maven and elder atm
@zizaran This is like my 6th league... I think one thing that slows me down is unlocking my atlas... let me explain my question: I get that I can do whatever and should do whatever I think is fun...my question though, is what is the method used by more experienced players... some examples... are they (a) rushing the map to complete it... skipping everything and heading to the boss for the kill and skill point and moving on to the next map, or (b) quickly killing mobs on the way to the boss, maybe focusing on magic mobs... hitting things like essence then getting the skill point and getting out, or (c) even though they don't have many atlas skill points are they doing certain league mechanics as they pop up just because it is league start and they don't have much of anything yet?... ALSO, it seems like a lot of people buy maven and uber elder boss kills for voidstones... when can that be done? As soon as one gets to maps or do we have to wait until red maps (if I can afford to buy the boss kill I can always not use the void stone until I can kill the higher tier maps). I can get to maps in 5-6 hours depending on the build... but even though I tried to speed up my Atlas time this league it took like a day and a half to 2 days (I didn't need 115 points to unlock expedition and harvest nodes that I wanted... so I was able to map sustain and start doing that content on the first day of atlas clear... but should I clear the atlas then focus on actually running maps) Note: not sure this matters, but I made enough with chaos recipe to buy gear that made me strong enough to run T14/T15 maps when I started my atlas clear (which is why I asked about buying boss kills, and how to progress faster... a lot of the white and yellow map time felt like a huge waste of time)
@@d4s0n282 Now you know how people sustain chisels. :) Do Red Alters and chisel before you alch and you should very rarely need to buy chisels. This 5% to white name rule applies to baubles, whetstones, etc.

He's literally creating a situation where he's messing up his maps by having the league content he doesnt want to do take up space against the content he wants to do.

Pretty sure he meant using a split beast on a weapon with sell for divines on the crucible tree. This splits the item but keeps the tree, so that you can sell it twice.
@@DuelingDragonAdventures Well what it does is it makes all notable (bigger nodes) on the atlas tree dont work but it instead doubles the effect of all small ones. So I thought if you had a lot of points into blight with wandering path on, that it might be the problem :p Also its really important to alch and later on chisel your maps as it greatly increases the amount of loot you get
Yes, but he is using a 50 divine build, just for demonstration purposes. If your character is deep enough into maps, you ought to have some lower level ones that you can run pretty quickly.
Storage became a real mess after finishing the campaign. Even currencies. You can use affinities for currencies or maps to store them in one or two f2p tabs. But you are going to have delete a lot of things hard to organize and stop thinking "I'll save this for an alt"
More favorite slot with the same map you want you get more % chance for each slot, or if you don't care about the downside there is the node that give a lot more favs but convert other map to currency
It feels so bad always doing expeditions in the same 2 maps I spam, I get really good currency out of it but it's just so draining. I wish there was more variety in endgame POE, because the atlas tree only allows you to spec into 2-3 mechanics fully. And one of those is always essence for me so only 2 other ones max. It really kills the fun, it being so repetitive. But you need to minmax the currency generation for your dream build, none of the builds with less than 10 divines investment interest me anymore.
The problem is that GGG thinks anything that can have a positive outcome has to be gated behind layers and layers of painful experiences. If a league mechanic gives you raw currency, it has to be the most abysmally dangerous and mind numbing experience. If a league mechanic gives you tradable items that go for a lot of currency, it has to be the most tedious means of collecting and trading possible. Ultimatum was the greatest loot league, because it was completely straightforward with no nonsense loopholes to get it. You saw the item, you got it. Harvest was the greatest crafting league because it was completely straightforward with no nonsense loopholes to get it. You saw the craft type you got it. There's a reason why GGG axed Ultimatum immediately after hatcheting Harvest for so long before it. It's been 2 years now and GGG still dangles the notion that Ultimatum is still being tried to be added to the game. No, it never will. GGG doesn't add the enjoyable league mechanics anymore. No scourge maps, no sentinels, no kalandra krangles, etc.. It's been the same boring atlas passives and league mechanics since expedition. We used to get a new league mechanic added to the core game every league .. or just about. Now we've had league content removed, nerfed, and pushed to the side. If they actually nerfed expedition and heist .. heads would roll. They're the last bastion of monetization in this game that remotely resemble past leagues; and people hate doing them because of that. The updates to breach, beyond, blight, etc. have all been worse than they were previously. And it's really ironic that GGG / players poke fun at Diablo 3 for their itemization of "Makes skill deal 10,000% more damage" .. but that's all PoE does as well , make skills do enough damage, make league content actually reward enough, to actually be useful. If the game was perfectly acceptable at a baseline this wouldn't be a problem. But GGG hates that idea ... so they make things feel awful until you've fully invested into it. Then it just becomes the baseline experience.
@@ToadstedCroaks It's really just the atlas tree that is the problem imo. The portals they added are a good start, but they really need to overhaul the notables as well as the travel nodes.
Great video, you killin' it ! Underachiever here, I'm up to ZERO maps this season ! Gotta a real life to be honest ! The "Retired Thug Life" - outside enjoying the sunshine ! Keep up the educational videos for real, I need them.
I'd like a video that goes more in depth into these various mechanics and which maps are optimized for each. As a new player I find that all the systems in this game are not hard to understand, there is just zero in game explanation. So it forces you to do some Google research, which is not fun and slows down blasting more maps.
I understand not wanting to burn points on blocking. But I think there might be a multiplier modifier that is hidden. I have all but abyss and heist blocked. I i regularly get 4-6 heist chests, and 2-3 abyss's with no map add ons. I Do have the no scarabs/extra content node. But as a heist main, i am getting 1-4 contracts a map. It is insane, even if heist seems to have been nerfed.

Storage became a real mess after finishing the campaign. Even currencies. You can use affinities for currencies or maps to store them in one or two f2p tabs. But you are going to have delete a lot of things hard to organize and stop thinking "I'll save this for an alt"
Wish my favourite map would drop more, is there secret tech for that too?
More favorite slot with the same map you want you get more % chance for each slot, or if you don't care about the downside there is the node that give a lot more favs but convert other map to currency
The beauty of SSF is I can be slow AF without worrying about economy.
Can you add the champ ea ballista to maxroll
I liked it better when maps were rarer i think they should bring that back slightly.
They put a 3min full length ad before the video started, if I wasn't end game mapping atm I would skipped the video all together
Instructions unclear…tried to dump my gf with control shift…didnt bypass any affinities
You forgot to check mark the affinity in your trash tab
Currently juicing my maps so hard they take 30-40 minutes to run, but averaging over 100 divine per map so i guess it’s alright
Great video, you killin' it ! Underachiever here, I'm up to ZERO maps this season ! Gotta a real life to be honest ! The "Retired Thug Life" - outside enjoying the sunshine ! Keep up the educational videos for real, I need them.
what do u mean when u have multitotem on bow? ;x im confused
it's a crucible node
I'd like a video that goes more in depth into these various mechanics and which maps are optimized for each. As a new player I find that all the systems in this game are not hard to understand, there is just zero in game explanation. So it forces you to do some Google research, which is not fun and slows down blasting more maps.
Can you bypass affinities on console?
"For console l3 square for no affinity, l3 show all loot" quoting an other comment
wtf I didn't know currency goes into your currency tab automatically, was it always a thing? I swear to God it didn't use to work this way
Ever since affinity checkboxes.
been in the game for a couple of years at least yeah. I last played during ultimatum and used it then.
lol im a new player and i discover that u can use alchemy orb to roll map haha. i have so many map with no mod in it xD
3-4 min for a map? I need like 20
How the fuck didn't I know about ctrl+shift
Nice, vendored a 6Link o.O
Yeah sold a crappy 6 linked corrupted staff in SOLO SELF FOUND
@@naggarothz7097 yea, i keep forgeting he`s playing SSF 😅
I like how there is talk about 'efficiency' but it's just moving actions around and keeping the same times.

strongboxes + ambush scarabs? Are they worth specing?
From my experience alone not really. But doing that plus map craft and the expensive 500% quant from strongbox monsters can yield insane results
Omg I feel dumb, what’s an affinity
TOWN IS LAVA!
most unrealistic thing is taking 4 minutes on a map I finish my map and path of exile 2 is already out
I understand not wanting to burn points on blocking. It is insane, even if heist seems to have been nerfed.
lol sounds like work, I forgot, it is for you...
"Here's a video of how to minmax the fun out of your game, now remember not to minmax the fun out of your game kids!". Reminds me of the drug PSA's we had at school 😁 I'm loving it
I choose to be inefficient :)
so my main problem with poe progression is afk time. i spend 60% of my time playing poe afk. solution poe moblie :)
Lol too players use trade bots , i know some people use 10 flipping bots 24/7 making like 50 mirrors per League
i never pick any rare, find weird seeng thiaaas
Why bro so zesty with it
?
cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeers
Mhh somehow you miss some ziz.. Ure a great teacher but this is not avaivable for normal or casual players.. Maybe u should tell em how to slowly get there
mapping efficiency? well if you're not below 50 more enemies left in the map you're not efficient enough lol.
Do you sleep? 🤣
5 maps having fun > 30 maps job. Just sayin
Time stamps would be appreciated
