    Bengalis be like " why can't we co-exist together why do you want separate state there's no need "
    Then go on and say " everything is Bengal and everyone residing here are Bengali "
    Neglecting all history of the place and people 🤡
    That's exactly why we want separate state we or our history was never acknowledged by them.

      First let us take back Jessore, Khulna, Barisal, East Dinajpur & Mymensingh back in West Bengal from Bangladesh. West Bengal wrongfully lost Jessore, Khulna, Barisal, East Dinajpur & Mymensingh to East Pakistan in 1947. This prompted British to equalize the situation by giving Darjeeling & Coochbehar to West Bengal. Had West Bengal not lost the areas I mentioned, then Darjeeling & Coochbehar would had been joined as a separate state.

      @@rohithvarma11 Siliguri was not even in bengal till 1956. Bengali population zero as per 1897 british census of darjeeling Terai. 27 pc gorkha including aborigin kirati, 4 pc lepcha, 69 pc koch rajbanshi, dhimal , mech. as per census. It was part of morang kingdom historically with two dist morang , jhapa of todays east nepal( annexed by shah king from limbu rulers ). Morang name derived from limbu king mor hang n ruled by limboo ( Darjeeling dist part ) n Koch historically( jalpaiguri dist part ) before limboo chiefs joined lepcha , tibbetan in 1642 to form Sikkim. dhimal means plain limboo. It was name given by Koch rajbanshi or gorkha rulers during rule of Sikkim. It was sila gadi . Changed to Siliguri by bengali to prove it was always part of bengal while there was no history of gorkha vs bengal war in 1800 to come siliguri under nepal from 1774 to 1815. But there was history of gorkha kingdom vs limbuwan( independent ) / sikkim( includes parts of limbuwan through treaty ) war.

  • @samirrai9471
    @samirrai9471 ปีที่แล้ว +71

    The meaning is derived from the name of a Gorkha fort... "Gari" - Outpost (military outpost for local supervision)... So its - Sila-Gari , Malla-Gari, Mayna-Guri,Jalpa-Gari, Doop-Gari etc.... the actual pronunciation and meaning of these words have been lost over time but the word "Gari" still stands out as the Outpost of the "Gorkha Empire" in the east...

    In Wikipedia it's written " Siliguri was small dense agricultural forest in kingdom of Sikkim. After nepal kingdom annexed sikkim in 1788( it's 1774 actually ), kirati, Nepali, lepchas settled in the region". Whereas kirati limboo n lepcha themselves were founder of Sikkim with dengzong bhutias. It shd be corrected. before sikkim it was ruled by limbuwan( darjeeling dist part ) n Koch kingdom( jalpaiguri dist part ) . Since darjeeling dist was not part of India administratively till 1947( no british india laws applicable as it was protected area) n bengal till 1956 , all kirati ( limboo, dhimal) , lepcha, most gorkhali of region r indian teritorrially . But people who came from bangladesh after 1947 ( without or with east Pakistani citizenship ) n 1971 ( with east Pakistani citizenship ) in large n became majority today think they r original inhabitants n original inhabitants ( who r living from before it became part of India n bengal ) as immigrant.

    Is not morang name is derived from limboo king mor hang n dhimal r plains limboo. So Siliguri was basically belonged to dhimal, limboo, mech n other parts to Koch. It's basically parts of limbuwan( became part of sikkim in 1642 with lepcha , limboo, Tibbetan treaty ) n Koch kingdom( jalpaiguri part ) . Then gorkha, other kiratis came during shah king 1774 expansion to kirat ( limboo, dhimal , mech ) region. N later bengali mostly after merged to bengal in 1956.

    Thanks for the content. In this region there we can find various places with the name ending with 'gadi' and in Nepali language it means small fort for administration and deployment of small division of army. Siliguri - Sila gadi, Mallaguri - Malla gadi, Salugara - Sal gadi, Jalpaiguri - Jalapa gadi, Maynaguri -Maina (bird) gadi. In the way towards Mirik Fuwa gadi, Kauley gadi. In doors Dhupguri - Dhop gadi, Binnaguri - Bina gadi etc. Further research is needed for the confirmity.

    The demography of Siliguri (Sila : ढुंगा ,गडिं : fort ) was completely changed after the Bangladesh war of independence,all the refuges were settled in the vacant lands of Siliguri mostly Bengali otherwise before it was dominated by Rajbhanis,Gorkhas/Nepali,some Biharis & other tribes.
    These days one find it is dominated by Bengali community compared to others .

    If I'm not wrong Nepal did not lose the war but were on the verge of losing one. Resulting in the signing of the Sugauli Treaty in 4th of March 1816 in which Nepal lost over one fourth of their territory including areas that they had earlier ceased from sikkim.
    According to the treaty signed Darjeeling.. Parts of Siliguri.. also came under the British Raj and continued to be a part of British until the independence after which it became an integral part of independent India.
    Also proving that the people living in the hills speaking nepali are not from Nepal but were a part of india , Hindustan or Bharata even before it had been independent.
