The video was filmed on the island of Formentera which is just off the coast of the island of Ibiza, Chris and his wife got married there and this song was about that and those memories.

He is probably the greatest blues (historic) that ever lived. A throw back.

He is best known for his song "This id the road to hell" It shows off his great slide guitar playing. Very different to this one.

I have literally just listened to this song in the car on the way home. It's on my favourite summer collection of all time, it comes right after "Summertime" By DJ Jazzy Jeff Will Smith. I only play this collection on hot, sunny days - it's 29c and 60% humidity here today and the A/C on my car has stopped working. I realise this probably doesn't sound that hot to you, but for pasty British folk who aren't accustomed to this weather and only have A/C in supermarkets and cars, this is WARM! Check out Chris Rea's "Road To Hell"... I play that on dark wet nights driving on country roads. Haha

Sounds sticky! Haha we're feeling temps of 38°C + here in PR.

@@richrants5858 Conversely, it's been about 12 degrees for the last 24 hours, yet the coolest room in my house still hasn't gone below 24c. Our houses are made to keep heat, so warm summers can be hardcore to sleep in.

You must have heard of *Chris Rea.* His 1988 song *Driving Home For Christmas* is one of the many songs played constantly at *Christmas* every year.
As for random song requests check out *Big Dick* by the crazy Russian band *Little Big.*
All their songs are catchy, and funny at the same time.

I'll have to check on that christmass son by Rick, because here in PR, for christmas we listen to a lot of salsa and merengue... that's why the name wasn't really familiar

Yes, you pronounced his name right. Also, I wonder what he thought of the WILTY claim that he advised Bob Mortimer to crack egg into his bath!

Chris has a lot of great pop radio hits like this one, but he is also an amazing slide player, often compared to Mark Knopfler both in guitar tone and voice. He released a set of 11 albums of pure blues originals but you won't ever hear those unless you own them. He's prolific to say the least. Most of his off the hook solos are done live. Check out "Stony Road" linked here. Solo comes in around 3 minute mark.

You missed something of the song and video by not watching it to the end. This was like watching Clint Eastwood's movie "Pale Rider", pausing it and talking on top of its final "riding off into the heatwaves" scene. Reaction videos are about sharing an experience. You did the sharing part just fine but we missed you experiencing the entire effect. Oh, well ... .

I would disagree with the title as far as the vibe goes. The music production is so non-80’s. It doesn’t use any of the typical synth pop samples and instruments you hear from the 80’s. The instrumentation is kind of timeless. If it was released today, it would sound as if it came from today.

@Dark Matter: This song was released in 1986, so its definitely the 80's.

Chris Rea definitely isn’t rock 😁 He’s very 80’s MOR. His singing voice is also VERY different from his speaking voice (if you remember Bob Mortimer’s impression of him!) ‘Road to Hell’ is a good song.
