why don't you work on gas LOLmy expansion tank did the same thing. Big adjustable wouldn't loosening it was able to get a pipe wrench in no luck. cut the tank of with a sawzall and was able to put more beef behind it. Glad she came off because I was looking at a really big job if she didn't. That tank full of water must have weighed 30lbs. personally I love heating systems had a really great teacher years ago at Lincoln tech in NJ.love that you bring your dog along for the ride that's really cool. Kick Ass Video Steve, man looks like that thing was a challenge. the freaking Buzzards, Man i hit one of those about a month ago on the highway and it took the grille out on my Command Car. I stopped to get the thing out of the road after it flew out in front of me, and a Game Warden stopped and told me not to touch it. He was telling me that the way they cool themselves off is they sit on fences or branches with their wings open and pee on themselves to cool down. Not even with the Blue Glove Club should anyone touch them, the guy told me. Might be some useless info but hey, someone might find it useful. Sorry for not commenting for a while, keep up the good work!!

That backflow preventer around 6:45 has the vent plugged. Why would anyone do that? Does that mean it's not doing the job it's intended to do and is essentially worthless as it is?
I have an old Sears-Homart 200 series oil furnace that's about 60 years old and still going strong. It has an old clacker (mechanical/electrical relay?) control box on it. The old girl still chooches, though.

Seems like you can never just change just one part on a boiler. Probably popping the relief valve due to that water logged extrol tank. Great video Steve

Steve, i’m always surprised that you install pressure relief valves horizontally.. the installation tag typically says that these valves need to be vertical. (Not like a water heater T&P valve).

Would love to apprentice under you. i went to tech school in florida but they had only a couple heating units, no need for heat there. i was 55yo then , nothing like crawling around 120 degree attics. 10 years later i am back in mass, OH SHIT, SNOW AND COLD.
Doesn't take much to give a boiler a quick visual a couple times a year. It amazes me that people see rusty water all over the boiler and think nothing of just letting it go until it doesn't work anymore. An 8 dollar Hyvent replacement could have saved them hundreds in repairs.

Since I had to change my 30lb tank so many times, I always check the charge in those expansion tanks. Many time sthey are not charged at 12lbs.
