I'm pretty sure the first strike was a black tip shark. They tend to jump on the surface like a marlin. Second strike not sure. Could have been a big shark, sting ray, or even ulua, But the fact that it bit through your 80 ib. leader suggests it was a big shark. Only way to find out is to use 7-strand wire leader next time and use an ulua set up. Toau head seems to be the bait of choice there. Good luck.
Yo braddah exciting video...notice u using braided for ur main line. Look up the casting cannon trigger.. i double my distance in casting with braided lines and no finger cuts while pumping it out. 7$-8$ trigger cant go wrong
@@afallingtaco9121 Everyone already knows where that is. I'm not even from that island, and I know where that is. It's a well-known place. It's easy to get to. Get plenty of parking. It's no secret.
Port Allen , I remember from taking the napali coast tour back in September with the fam shout out from southern California I’m going again in September and I’m literally learning how to fish just because of that I wanna catch and cook fresh fish from Hawaii
You should just let it pull the line and when it stops pulling then you start reeling in. But that's probably a massive shark. How heavy is the line you're using for that Penn reel?
@@justfishhawaii923 I was using a 40lb mono main line and a 60lb mono leader line when I hook a shark and it broke off when it was in the shallow about less than 1 foot of water by the rocks. So yeah I was dragging its weights pretty much that's why the line broke but it's perfect that the line broke because I ain't touching that thing lol. It was good fun though. I was using a 12ft Penn Prevail spinning rod and an 8000 Penn fierce reel on that setup. When I caught the ulua I'm using the same rod and reel but with 30lb mono and 40lb leader but better to use a heavier leader line to be safe.
Question: I was there end of this August in Waikiki and learned that its not allowed to fish the harbors there. I assumed that was island wide. so is this restriction only for certain harbors, but others can be fished? planning on yearly trips there.
Awesome vid JustFish! Got my heart racing just watching that pull and splash! Liked and subscribed--Keep fighting the good fights, but might gotta get one ggod pair rock tabis jus in case the fight brings u down to the slippery section! Enjoy your vids--keep it up...Aloha!
Bruh I just bought that same fierce combo 8000 for catching some of my first live bait omilus or uluas and now I’m worried haha whatever that fish was rippppinggg threw line you thinking shark or kaku? Cause I’ve never had sharks jumping always digging deep
you should; it's just on the way to salt pond. only pain is you hook something big you will need a round net or large treble hook with a rope to raise it back up...@@justfishhawaii923
omg DLNR and it being illegal to catch sharks. I’ll remind the sharks to not eat bait when casting out in an ocean 🙃

It was a dolphin! They refuse to be caught and pull and jump and go crazy if they get hooked
I’m pretty sure the 3rd one you lost, the boat that drove by took your line…
