- A Blue Lagoon is DRYING UP in Vang Vieng Laos and we ask some locals why..
After all these years traveling to Vang Vieng Laos, we finally made it to the end of the road.. Well, as far as the road goes heading west behind the mountains. While out there we stopped at Blue Lagoon 9, which is also called Inter Park Vang Vieng. We were there just recently in October and it looks very different now. There is NO FLOWING WATER. There was nobody swimming and the water looked terrible. This is what we found out.. Enjoy!

Yes, it is worth a look. Look at the videos that Todd has done with Chris Barth concerning visas. I think he gives very good advice. Life can be good if you come with the right expectations. I would not worry about the government. Expect visas and other things to move slowly. Retires should look at what medical care is available in Lao and Thailand. I'm 21 years in Lao.
That word „communist“ is relatively redundant in respect to Laos nowadays. Like Vietnam and China : capitalism flourishes.
Yeah so true . This channel got us through COVID when getting to Laos was impossible . I watch a lot of travel shows. Some with 100 s of k of subs, regular millions of views, but they are not up to this channel in quality of content nor integrity. Deserves a lot more people viewing .

Just noticed at the 24:55 mark there are two skydivers coming down right there. That must have been a cool experience for them a twilight skydive.

You need to put heavy items onto the truck's bed to keep the wheels grips on the roads and keep the truck from spinning out of control during raining the heavy truck also helping you from getting stuck too.just add about 200-250 kilograms of sand bags to it

Oh wow all the roads out to the lagoons and viewpoints sealed now. I was in Vang Vieng 2017-2018 and it was all dusty, bumpy gravel roads.

Wow, I am surprised to see that. I was at the Interpark on the 8th of March and the "Lagoon" was still full with very clear water.. not sure wether they have pumped out the water for agriculture purposes?.. strange to see it changed so drastically in a bit over a months time..
Yeah mate, no idea what's going on. Every other time I've been out there the water has always been flowing, especially that stream just as you drive into the carpark area. This time that stream was bone dry.. 🤔 Very quick to dry up then if you were there a few weeks back

Hi todd. Thanks for the amazing videos. Coming to the end of my first visit to laos. Your videos have provided countless good information. I stopped in that hotel16th to the 18th. Is a nice hotel and the restaurant was good. Gutted i didnt bump into you. Keep up the good work. Im back later in the year for a month. Cant wait.

Hi Todd,,nice little roadie up the river. Too bad about #9. Sucks for them,,but i think someone got a bit greedy,building 9 blue lagoons. Last of Pi Mai looked fun,,still plenty of beautiful wet women😏 poor Mina,,bet she was bummed about the lack of decent swimming today. All those hotels looked nice. The thinnish steak reminded me of a few weeks back,,Dad and I and some friends went to a nice steak joint up in Billings. I ordered a 40 dollar chunk of prime rib,,supposed to be medium and tender,,took one bite ,mwas so tough i couldnt chew it,,so i cut a bite out of the middle,,,same. It had ligaments running flat wise across the entire chunk. Called the waiter over told him,,and i ordered shrimp instead,,was fine. I ended up nit having to pay for my prime rib OR the shrimp. Was rather surprising. 40 bucks for a chunk of prime in cattle country? Com 'on! Lol a bit more understandable in Lao with not much beef industry. Oh well,,life goes on. Mina's command of English is rather astounding. Her abilty to figure out sentence structure is brilliant! Proud of that girl!❤❤❤❤❤. Take care,,,Ttyl,,,Marlon
My wife’s parents house is two doors down from where you had your stake, vang vieng is just none stop party town 🙀 I feel for the surrounding wildlife, it’s scared them further away!! Noise pollution isn’t a thing in Lao
No more wildlife there, the Hmong has hunted them all down over the last hundreds of years.
street food for fish and chips. Order steak Diana something, we can all enjoy. Mena is getting Bigger. With all the good food and exercise , When she see her Mom again they'll be surprised how much she's grown. Very good trip.
Lovely for you all to be able to relax and enjoy your holiday in Vang Vieng. It looks a great place to be and a lovely place to stay, by the river. Mina is the star of this vlog from her swimming in the pool to her telling you in excellent English that it was not your drink. And then when you asked her what Mummy had ordered the look on her face when she said in an accusatory why "Don't you remember?" Priceless. Neenee's foot seems to still be a bit painful, perhaps she needs some physio with a good painkiller. As always Todd, thanks for sharing. God bless you all 😀❤🙏

Geez the whole place has changed heaps since I was there 15 years ago. Used to have to walk through a rice paddy to get to the original Blue Lagoon then. 🤯

You should have explored past that small stream you don’t know what lies ahead unless you go look. The lagoon definitely has issues this time around. The steak 🥩 doesn’t look so good in my opinion and your right mashed potatoes and asparagus soul have been the better compliment to that tiny steak 😊
Interesting to me how english is used on the door of AFlora cafe'. PUSH, No Pets, etc.
I suppose they cater to the Western crowd.

Haven't seen any leeches in Laos. Not saying there not here.. but I haven't come across them

No need to take it on this trip.. it was all expressway driving to get to Vang Vieng. If it makes you feel any better though.. I'm sitting in the Troopy right now 😉👍

Are the water from the spring water or from the rivers ?
Springs from the mountains.. Interpark (Blue lagoon 9) is the only place having trouble, the other Blue Lagoons are fine
@@NowinLao water comes from sky mostly collect in rivers then can go artesan come back surface as spring to ponds, when the rainy season happens all fixed.
was there 3 weeks ago. disappointing too many horrible old rude Chinese tourists. Luang Prabang was amazing.

Yeah man Vv has been done over by the Tubing groups then the Chinese developers, then the Sth Korean short term renters of everything, now it’s just old , tired , and rundown. I wish they could scrap all the buildings of the last decade and a half, then replant and rebuild, and take some cues from Luang Prabang. 😂 tell him he’s dreamn. Anyway have a good one dude.

You used to be able to stand out the front of Gary's Irish bar with beer in hand and look at those majestic mountains.. now just a filthy big hotel casting a shadow over that part of town. Don't get me started on them putting a road on the western side of the river! 😡
@@NowinLao yeah man I have heard you re the Amari! and the dams . The Chinese government are/have robbed Laos blind, and it isn’t stopping mate. I so miss the old days . 😂 you order a Laos coffee nowadays and nobody has a clue what you are on about. Blue lagoon, there was 1 , and it had an entrance fee of 10 thousand Kip. This was imposed by a local with a string running across the track and attached to a stick. He pulled it up as you approached on your bike and you payed him his 10. mind you the bikini clad / speedo clad , pommy tourists had arrived at that time. The river was strewn with bamboo Bucket bars, and the island before the mountains had the huge „Guitar bar“ „rock bar“!etc. it’s been all downhill since then, fk it. The older locals must pine for the old days. Ah , boring you to death , sorry . Keep up the great work as long as it’s fun . Cheers 🥃
