Good video I use tracing paper to move it around really easy thanks for sharing..

I was planning on doing something very like this today for my 338-378. Like you, I was planning to use 1/2 grain increments.

The powder charge is 70.3, now adjust seating depth to tighten it up

      I agree. 70.2 or 70.3. That’s where I would do more testing.

Your node is between 70 and 70.5. The velocity jump between 69.5 and 70 is too much.

to get a little more exact of a marker to line up groups next to eachother or overlay, get a thin sheet of paper lay over your cross lines and draw the holes. then just move the sheet of paper for an overlay.

im in the middle of trying the satterle method, im also new to reloading, before i got a chrono, i just did 3 shot groups of charges to see what grouped best in 1/2 grain increments. i now have a chrono did my 1st 10 shot test to find node, now i need to try 4 shot groups of 2 nodes i found. then will try to play with seating depth. 257 roberts and 270 win

I have had practically no luck at all with low ES resulting in small groups. I feel like there’s just not enough of a sample size by going with only one shot from each charge to pick a node. May just be me?

U can exceed maximum charge! You can go as far as your pressure signs let you! 75 percent of the load data out there is dumbed down more than u can fathom!

    71.5 looks real good.

The problem is I have found OCW at 3/4" of vertical before and than dialed in to one hole with 3 different seating depths in 2 thousandth increments. If you stretch that load out to 1000 yards you may have a ton of vertical due to SD that may not show up at 100 yds

That has not been my experience. And I’m pretty surprised you were able to dial in your seating depth with only exploring .006” worth of range! You got lucky! There’s also a chance that the results you were getting were the accuracy limits of that rifle/powder/projectile combination

I started marking the powder charge on each case after I dumped a box of 30 test loads. Had to pull the bullets and start over 😠

we've all been there. unfortunately, that's getting to be a more and more expensive process these days!

Just take one of those .30 cal bullets and cut disc from the middle part of it. You sacrifice 1 bullets to get about 4 discs or so from it. Just use a bullet that has a deformed tip or base that would cause the bullet to be useless. Easy peasy! :)

That’s a really good idea! What I wound up doing after this video was taking anything round that was close to the diameter of my bullet, and just tracing around it with a pencil to move the bullet hole around. Thanks for watching!

    70.2, 70.4, 70.6.

I like the pencil id'e, I think that I have to "borrow" that 😉

I also discovered that I could just trace around the the pencil (with another pencil) and over lay every group on top of each other!

You ever tried using lapua brass? Might get even better! Good stuff though

    • @stricklyreloading8494
      @stricklyreloading8494  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, I typically do use Lapua brass for all my F Class competition shooting. At the time I made this video, I did not have any Lapua 300 Win Mag brass. I have since been able to get a box! Looking forward to working up a load with it!

@@stricklyreloading8494 nice ya also have you ever used the computer program gordons reloading tool? It's pretty awesome at how accurate it is.. I'm able to push a 80 grain vld in a 223 rem match bolt action at 3050 without pressure signs
