Fun Fact: French doctor Jacques Beaurieux was curious about how long a severed head remained alive after decapitation. He asked a convict scheduled for the guillotine to try and blink continuously before the blade hit, and to continue even after. The decapitated prisoner stopped blinking 5-6 seconds after decapitation. But when the doctor called out the man's name, the eye lids would open up in response to being called out. This continued a three times, up to 25-30 seconds after decapitation.
The title of this episode is "Two Brothers" to represent Eren/Zeake, Marcel/Porco, and Colt/Falco.

- the name Ymir is taken as inspiration from Norse mythology - Ymir, the first giant
- AoT is heavily influenced by German, so the name "Yaeger/Jaeger" in German simply means "Hunter" / "Reiner" means "Council" or "the Warrior" / "Armin" means "great/brave" and so on

Reiner does not mean warrior, nor does Armin mean anything lol. Reiner actually means "cleaner", so unless isayama intended for reiner to be a janitor, this analogy falls flat. They're just cool german sounding names.
For what it's worth, a titan shifter generally would not recover from having their head blown off. The limit is basically "if it doesn't kill them outright, they can regenerate". But outside Eren's being able to enter the coordinate/paths/etc, he would have died and Gabi would have succeeding in saving the world (from Marley's perspective) and dooming Paradis (from the Jaegerist's perspective).
So: it's very very important that Zeke spent all of those years playing catch with Mr. Ksaver so he could wind up making the most important catch of his life.

Magath is a character that has a lot more depth than many fans like to acknowledge. All throughout season 4 there are moments where his personal beliefs about Eldians conflict with his official position about Eldians. He shows affection for Gabi, trusts and listens to the advice of Colt, Zeke, Gabi and Pieak as well as that scene with Willy Tybur in the carriage.
I imagine Pieak's speech about trusting her comrades but not Marley is probably something that is true for Magath as well. Afterall lets not forget he conspired with Willy to get the rest of the Marley military leadership killed so he could take complete control of what remains, and remember Marley is a Military Dictatorship and the sole world superpower nation-state.
Let's goooooooooooooooooooooooo Peak fiction, the emotional rollercoaster I went through while watching this episode I'll never forget it
the fact that eren didn't catch the baseball means that he didn't agree with zeke's plan in the first place
It's moreso that it's dramatic irony for the audience. It's not as if him dropping a baseball **actually** means anything within the context of the story. It's just a wink and a nod for those watching and paying attention.

He suspects he's going to betray him because Eren agreeing so readily with his plan is too good to be true. Besides, would you think somebody is going to betray you over something so dumb? @@ICavalcadeI If you make a promise with someone, and told them that to seal the promise you shake hands, and the person refuses to shake hands, or does it half-assed then wouldnt that make you believe that they dont actually mean their promise?
In this case zeke literally says that since they cant physically touch, then lets use the ball as a form of handshake, by not catching the ball, eren is not shaking his hand

and the people who read the manga have to wait a month to find out what happened in the headless eren scene
during the anime this scene lasted a week till the next episode. damn in the manga we waited a whole month of erens head spinning in suspended animation 😂 felt like years even! when eren said wait to zeke that was it, cover blown
This is why the previous episodes felt like they were being dragged out. They had to make sure this episode was perfectly paced and end where it did.

I could never have a reaction channel because my face doesn't show what I'm feeling when I watch a show. But when Gabi landed that shot on Eren, I literally gasped, eyes went wide, and I just froze, jaw on the floor

In season4 ep1 Magath did look sad when sending Gabi instead of 800 soldiers. I myself didn't really catch the subtle emotion but some reactors said, "He actually looks like he cares." I think he always cared for the kids, if not the adult soldiers.

Faze Gabi is the MVP. 12 year old and just blows the head off of the biggest threat to humankind. Floch also got fucked up.
Zeke got there the moment he touched Eren's head. But time works differently there. That tiny moment that looked like a frozen frame for us, was many many years for Zeke. Now imagine Ymir who's there for like 2000 years of our time, probably spending literal billions of years there.

I think its a bit mixed up in the discussion about Magath.
Magath couldnt care less to send out 800 suicide bomber Eldians to stop the train. He DID NOT want to send Gabi out there with the grenade bundle but she finessed her way into getting permission.
When she first asked he said absolutely not. She then continued to say that he must be soft on her and couldnt bare to sacrifice ONE Eldian Warrior for 800.
I feel that if any of his superiors heard that a lowly Warrior Canidate could have been sacrificed instead of a regiment of 800 it would have led to questioning of his loyalty. Gabi was one of 5 canidates. She was not special to them.
Also Magath has trained all cadets, at least since Zeke's warrior classes. He knew Gabi had to have had a good plan because she was determined to be the Armored Titan after Reiner
Next episode is one of the best in the series

Fun fact:
The reason Eren and Zeke got to the Paths even tho Eren's head was blown clean off was because Eren's brain was still alive. When a head is cut off from the body the brain has to process that it has disconnected from the body, which takes a couple of seconds then it shuts off (Don't worry it doesn't mean that you feel the pain or have to process it, it goes straight to dark). So when Zeke caught Eren's head, Eren's brain was still trying to figure out what the hell just happened, and thus they got to the paths.
But how do you get to paths? Is it through dying? Because zeke didn’t die when he went there, and neither did Ymir. How do one of the nine transport themselves to the paths?
@@locomojoboy2it’s never really explained why Ymir saw the path, maybe all shifters see it the first time they turn back to human, but zeke going to the paths is just a power he has thanks to his royal blood, he can see and control the wills of others by speaking to the titans through the paths, which to the audience just looks like him talking but to the titans they see the paths (similar to when Eren addresses all eldians through the paths later in the show). SO when Zeke caught his head, knowing he can go to paths by his own will and that the founder can heal Eren, AND that he’d finally have the full power of the founder, he did it the second his head landed in his hand.

This is honestly one of my best epsiodes in the anime because of the title and how it was represented with how 3 different set of brothers and their respective older brothers all tried protecting their younger one from harm one way or the other.
To clarify, it has been said throughout season 4 to activate the founding titan power a titan of royal blood and a person which has the founding titan(eren) need to come in contact...so thats why since the got back from marley, eren and zeke have been trying to meet up to get in contact, you can even see zeke clearly tell eren back in marley its best for them not to touch yet. So when eren's head was shot off apparently your brain doesnt die immediately so zeke managed to touch him right before he died and thats how they were now able to activate the founding and enter the paths, the reason why zeke said he had been waiting there for years for eren to wake up was because of ymir taking time to build erens body again in the paths
THAT moment was the most shocking in the show for me.
Shoutout to Galliard, dude was hella persistent still even after getting his ass beat up for a few episodes.

It's worth noting that canonically the only equal to Zeke in intelligence is Hange. Isayama rated those two characters alone as 11/10 in intelligence. Zeke gets defeated by his emotions sometimes but he's not going to be outsmarted by anyone.
