Nice work! I have a 1921 singer "sphinx" treadle table slightly different form your project. Decals are 99% intact will start restoring it soon.

This turned out beautiful. I don’t paint mine. I oil them to keep them black and rust free.

You did an amazing job! I recently acquired my own treadle machine and table. The wood of the table itself is in great condition…. The bottom iron part though, is a rusty mess. Same with the machine. These videos are so helpful. I’m honestly a little intimidated that I will not remember which part goes where it’s supposed to so I’m not sure I’ll have the courage to disassemble it 😂
Thank you for the in depth video though!

Nice job. Sandblasting would save you lots of time and effort.

How difficult was it to remove the wheel of the crank.

Also, are the wheels just a turned on the lath, or are they small bearings

Good luck getting a thousand dollars. What people list things for on eBay and what they get are two different things.

Could you just burn old paint with gas burner?

The easiest way and the cleanest result would have been using sandblasting. The guy didn't have either air compessor or Karcher power washing machine that can be used as sanblasting tool if you add a special (pretty cheap) device/extention. Many people use grinding machine with a wire brush - a bit slower, but similar result. The aughtor used what he had - paint stripper, solvents, WD-40 and a hand wire brush, no shame working with his hands, it''s just painfully slow. Gas burner - no-no.

I laughed when he rolled that belt pulley across the floor after he spent a week meticulously sanding, scraping and painting it. Wtf

Sorry to say that close pictures have shown that the painting was way too badly done . The use of a brush would have had a better result . Sure the stripping of the old paint was not satisfactory . Still I value your perseverance.

Needs to get himself an angle grinder with a wire wheel.
