This looks definitely like Seiyunchin/Seienchin, but more like the modern or sports Kata. According to Akihito Yagi-Sensei, for the Shiko Dachi movement, the spear hand strike is supposed to go forward, not sideward, because we pull the opponent to us. Maybe I am wrong, but this looks more like Juria Nagano-senpai's Shito-Ryu version. But apart from that detail, it looks flawless and I have nothing to say against it.
@@shanmugarajramaiah104 No, I know that I practiced Goju-Ryu, because the katas I have been taught are Gekisai Dai Ichi and Dai Ni, Tensho, Saifa and Seienchin, hence why I am watching this video SPECIFICALLY in Goju-Ryu.

Are there any resources to learn the specific applications of various movements in Kara's? I know originally these were meant to exist with purpose but it seems like it's more of a display of form. It would be interesting reading what each movement is meant to achieve in combat
@@richardlucascronley5128 Look up Iain Abernethy (Practical Bunka) from England. He's not a goju-ryu stylist, but he has a lot of videos detailing his interpretations of the movements of kata from systems across the board including goju-ryu. There's also Tom Hill, David Gimberline (Kata for Self-Defense), Angel Lemus (One Minute Bunkai) and Jesse Enkamp (Karate by Jesse). There are tons of others, but these guys are more than enough to start with. Abernethy in particular gets very detailed and even has his own podcast, books and videos.
This is the first time I saw the Goju-Ryu version. I've always seen the Isshyn Ryu version. Are the deeper stances a personal touch or is that a Goju ryu thing?
In my school we're always told to go deep in Shiko Dachi because the practical application of that stance often used in takedowns; so the deeper the stance the more force you apply in the throw. Zenkutsu Dachi on the other hand is more understood as a horizontal push - so that one is typically less deep than Shotokan.
Un horror de kata. Sus desplazamientos en los 3 primeros shiko dachis son pésimos, la cadera sube y baja de nivel. Luego en los 2 shiko dachi en retroceso permite que sus pies se toquen. Craso error
Wow, Great video! With the help of this video I passed my black belt exam haha
This gives me strong Karate Kid Part 3 vibes.

I'm trying to find this kata called Saiichi, not sure about spelling. It's a Shyto Ru green belt slow breathing kata but has a few fast moves in it.
