      Keep up the good work brother 💪🏼🫡☦️ the discipline and self control you learn from the gym will only help with you spiritual practices.

    I needed this so much, brother. Thank you for sharing.
    I burned out of the gym a while ago and have been struggling to humble myself and get a consistent routine in between awful work and home life.
    I'm dangerously close to doing the same to my Orthodox journey. Thank you. Even if this seems obvious to some, it has been the hell of my own making and I need correction.

      These burnouts are almost always self inflicted, I know from a lot of experience brother🤦🏻‍♂️😅 In the past I've had the bad habit of having unrealistic expectations for myself (or rather unrealistic timeframes) in my endeavors which would often times result in my abandoning them altogether; the beautiful thing about Christianity is that it's a prerequisite to accept that we'll inevitably fall short but we have to still keeping pushing forward and fighting the good fight. Even if we fall every day, and multiple times a day, what important is we get up and persevere. Sometimes our progress is so minor that it may not seem like any progress at all, but over the span of years, deacades, a lifetime, the progress is substantial 💪🏼🫡☦️

    Hey bro i was christened as a child but never really been to religious. Im 33 now and have lived a very sinful life in my younger days even resulting in some jail time Over the last 6 weeks ive been having strong urges to get closer to god. I'm also experiencing the gym bug affect 😂 just wanting to read and learn about jesus and the bible as much as i can spending hours a day reading and watching content. I feel my bond with god growing by the day. I look forward to learning about the orthodox faith through your videos as im very new to all of this really. Big love from the uk 🇬🇧

      I'm going to have to echo the 'find a local parish' advice. It's good to do some research but attending the Divine Liturgy and talking to a priest is really when the rubber meets the pavement. Great to hear you're are taking an interest in Orthodoxy brother! Most of my adult life was pretty debaucherous and I've just found the Church in 2022. It's been a transformative journey to say the least and I'm happy to help out however I can on your path homie 🤝💯☦️

    Jesus and Gym? My kind of channel! I've been going the gym for years but just started taking my kids to Catholic Mass. I haven't been for years but I'm happy to be back at it. Keep posting videos, I'm following!

    Yeah, I’d have to say that being in martial arts dojos/ sallee for 20 plus years really prepared me for my entering the Orthodox Church. Glory to God and thanks for sharing this, brother!!!

    almost 1 month from now will be 1 yr since me doin 250x6 flatbench at 14 yro before my b day. and not too long ago i broke my hand pretty shitty. i have made no progress this yr lmao. i dont know why im sayin all that but aghh. im striving towards The One Truth of Eastern Orthodoxy. and the absence of the gym is killing me but i will to go to an actual church asap. idk why im saying all this but im glad to see more gym stuff from orthodox channels, although it kinda disappoints me now

      Nah bro don’t feel bad you’re making a real conversation. I haven’t been going to gym either because of so much life crap. That being said take your time and when you can attend catechumen classes do it.

    How do you balance fasting and meeting your macros?

      At this point in my life my spiritual practices hold priority over a desired physique. I've always been a bigger guy my whole life and fortunately my body is very responsive to hypertrophy training. I mostly just enjoy throwing around weight in the gym and try to eat a high protein diet when I can. On fast days I'll keep it simple and try to get some complete proteins (red beans and rice, etc.) I've been slippin with my nutrition the past couple years but I'm working to get that in line and hopefully get leaner in the process 💪🏼💯🤝☦️

    You don't necessarily need a gym membership, but physical aesthetic struggle is key I think. The monks aren't gymbros lol, but they are still physically active.

    • @Dwell.within
      @Dwell.within  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This video isn't about monks, it's more my personal experience and what lessons the gym has taught me to prepare for Orthodox discipline and asceticism. I don't think all Orthodox Christians need to be gym bros 😂 that's a little silly. But if you want to hit the weights and build some good habits while doing so it can be a very positive activity 💯💪🏼☦️

    • @WolvesBaseballNine
      @WolvesBaseballNine 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Dwell.withinGood on ya. I'm just saying it isn't necessary and in fact for men like me who struggle with lust, self abuse and addictions, it's better for me to stay away from Unisex gyms, and I would recommend men who are like me to do the same. The culture seems to be encouraging men to hit the gym and fails to mention there are plenty of pitfalls and passions in there. It's only slightly better than a bar in terms of atmosphere and the way we dress and admire ourselves isn't great either. Just my 2 cents about the gym.
      I get you aren't a monk, but the Monks and the Saints are our guide, brother. God bless you ☦️☦️☦️

    • @Dwell.within
      @Dwell.within  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@WolvesBaseballNine totally! If you struggle with lust, which most young men do, the gym can be a difficult culture to embrace. I personally have a power rack in the garage at home and a local YMCA membership. I try to go during off hours, more so for equipment selection rather than battling with lust, but I think choosing a gym that fits your needs or working out at home is a great option. Ultimately I think the important thing is that exercise, whatever it may be, builds discipline which will most definitely carry over into your spiritual life 🤝☦️

    Where did you get your gym advice? Everyone online now seems to give bad (sinful) advice for the gym

    • @starstray4326
      @starstray4326 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The proper advice is don’t make excuses and live by action but don’t take Tren lol. Also go out of your way to ask people in person instead of online.

    • @Dwell.within
      @Dwell.within  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There's a lot of great training information online regardless if the person presenting it is enhanced or not. I always enjoyed John Meadows (RIP), dude had a crazy training style and was a wealth of knowledge. Or even following some natural bodybuilders may be a good move. A lot of the fitness influencer channels are pretty ego driven but I don't really go to fitness videos for ethical or moral advice. I've always tried to extract the knowledge applicable to me and my training and throwing out a lot of the questionable nurtrition and 'supplement' advice they give 💯💪🏼🫡
