    Great info. I particularly like your tips and short-cuts, as to not make the same mistakes. Can't wait for next weeks episode.

    Beautiful. I've been looking for a view of a Bowtie Overdrive's crossmember. Many thanks. I put a 2004R in a Manual 68 with the narrow tunnel. I ended up using 4L80 Banjo fittings to be able to hook up tranny cooler fittings without modifying the tunnel. Worked great.... if it wasn't for the Banjo Fittings I would have had to modify the tunnel.

    Super clean job John, but of course, not cheap and very labor intensive. After seeing these LS swap videos I'm sticking with a 454 Rat motor on my 1970. I also have a 540, but I backed down from that.

    • @C3Mods

      Make it yours, not anybody else’s. Nothing wrong with a rat motor!

    Check with aircraft spruce and specialty company for grade bolts. As an aircraft builder we shy away from using grade 8 bolts in an area of high vibration due to the brittleness of grade 8 bolts.

    John I am working on a 69 c3 build, just curious how did you lift up the body and what did you set it on while doing the frame.

    How much space do you have between the heads/intake manifold and the firewall?

    • @C3Mods
      @C3Mods  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot. Probably 5 or 6 inches. That’s the whole point with using the motor mounts from BRP Hotrods. It puts the motor exactly where it needs to be. Check out the pics of the engine on my Instagram account.

    How much do you charge for the swap? Or should I say how much will you charge for the build?

    All in all how much are you in for this car? Wondering for future reference for myself when I resto mod a classic

    • @C3Mods
      @C3Mods  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This last go-around cost me about 80k, and that does NOT include the cost of the car. But keep in mind there was no labor costs involved because I did everything myself, with the exception of the rear diff rebuild and seat upholstery. But I also spared no expense. There were no corners cut.

      @@C3Mods thanks for the reply. And wow that number can get up their quickly! Either way I think the car is awesome, you did a great job. Where are you located? Do you take it to shows/meets?

      @C3Mods  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brey93 Thank you. I live in southern Illinois. But I have just recently sold the car after owning it for 30 years. I’ll probably do another one in the future.

    Is a LS3 engine what came in the C5 Z06?

    • @C3Mods
      @C3Mods  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The C5 Z06 came with an LS6, 385hp. The external dimensions are identical with all the LS1,2 & 3 variants. In comparison, the base LS3 for 2008 is 430hp. My GMPP crate motor is rated at 495hp but dynoed at the wheels at 462hp. So if you figure a 20% drivetrain loss, that’s approximately 575hp at the crank.

    • @atx-cvpi_99
      @atx-cvpi_99 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s the C6 that came with the LS3.
