Ive never played squad before, but why dont apc players seem to ever have infantry with them? Doesnt it kinda defeat the purpose of an apc?
we have mech inf all the time on our server. best way tbh
its really fun to flank with APC's and wreak havoc in the enemies back lines with HEF belts. I really like taking out a BMP-2 in a massive flank, sometimes i'll take a squad in the personnel bay, but either way my team and i average 20+ kills

Mostly boils down to mech-inf being hard to play, so most APC players tend to do support duties.
In this case, though, its cause the BMP-1 is so paper thin that light AT fire is a pretty serious threat to it, so you'd be hard pressed to use it for close infantry support. Because of that, it is best used for long range fire support which it can do pretty effectively due to the big gun and ATGM.
Man this game is just amazing but it’s almost 10 years old now.. We need the same game but on a nextgen engine

I bloody hate this layer. The aussies get LAVs with bushmasters and the Insurgents often have nothing but bmp1s and MTLBs and have to attack over the open plain. I always leave these matches because all it ends up being is 2 lavs spawn-camping the main base and no supply can get out.
That’s how it was in real life.

LAV-25 is correct. hows it feel to look stupid and fail that miserably?
L.A.V. is also valid, as it is for every acronym- but... no one actually writes like that anymore, it's a waste of space and ink. It is mostly used for clarity because a lot of letters can be flipped upside-down and still be legible (but as the wrong text), especially when worn down. This is more important for items used in the field like ammo, so your shell might say H.E.A.T. or M.830 etc. That's my limited understanding anyways, I'm not an educated individual lmao

First few LAV rounds would have knocked it out at that range and angle..is this all just HP based crap?
It's a bit of a mix.
Squad in general is a bit limited in its simulation. The armor bounces are simulated fairy well (though rebalanced a bit for the purpose of the game), but post-pen is just blocks of generalized systems and an hp value. Turret, wheels/tracks, engine+suspension, ammo rack. Hitting some does more damage to the hp than others, or just disable/kill the vehicle appropriately. Crew can't be killed except when the vehicle is burning.
This extra survivability is in exchange for vehicles being very limited, given significantly worse optics and FCS than reality. Squad is not a sim, it just has more of a verisimilitude than your usual FPS.
@@micaheiber1419 Exactly, it's a way to keep the game digestible and strike a reasonable balance between sim and enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, there's a place for full-sim vehicle combat but with as many moving gears and bits as SQUAD has already, full internal modeling feels a bit of a hill to far for what little it would add to the gameplay.
