    I really like the PowerPoint types of guides like yours. It reminds me of Kargoz' original guides made for classic. Unfortunately they're not available anymore and yours is a lot more technically advanced. Keep it up! Do you plan to do them for every class?

    Man this is what I’ve been looking for. Despite Classic being “solved” It’s hard finding high quality, well researched guides specifically for Classic Era.
    So many guides are 3+ years old, using knowledge from private servers, and/or regurgitate WoW Head’s guide.

    • @server1ok
      @server1ok ปีที่แล้ว

      Solved my ass, it's the 1.12 patch that's well researched but not solved. Have you heard about spell power rogues out dpsing physical damage rogues ? Have you checked the patches before 1.12 when proc items were buffed by spell power ? Have you seen a spell power hunter crit with + 1 k arcane shots every 5 sec on the 1.12 client ( while wearing full T 1 set ) ? You haven't seen shit my man. Sadly. Blame the streamers and blame the fixation on the last patch of Vanilla when everything was normalized

    You would be able to sustain better overall kill rate by smiting once less and applying pain during a longer wand phase. You can get very good regen during the wand phase and a very low drink rate that allows you to keep killing.

    Nice guide the only thing I didn’t agree with that you went over briefly was the PvP racials. If you’re Horde Troll is arguably better than Undead for Spriest in PvP. Blackout + Shadowguard is incredibly strong and helps you against every class and you only need Rank 1 Hex for the 20% MS. As far as Wotf you already shit on warriors and Warlocks are disproportionately unpopular. It does help you vs other Priest though, but so does Shadowguard+Blackout and 20% MS. You don’t actually need the fear break as often as it seems. Devouring Plague can be strong, but being a disease is easily dispelled.

    • @FrosteMelon
      @FrosteMelon ปีที่แล้ว

      It's been a while. But I played a lot different. Aka a shadow style where you do not oom much.. Which is the main factor in you xp time + mob density and spawn rate.
      This is also kind of moot. as once you hit scarlet Monestary. You will be 4mage+1Priest AOE farming to lvl 56 for 3-4 times the xp and you will spec to do so.

  • @michaelbowman6684
    @michaelbowman6684 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I know this is relatively underexplained part of the video, but I would argue that Trolls are better than Undead when it comes to PvP. Shadowguard being able to proc Blackout and Shadow Weaving on top of being a Shadow Damage clone of Lightning Shield is applicable in more situations than WOTF which helps in comparatively less matchups. This is on top of having a practically no mana cost -20% Healing Curse in the form of a Rank 1 Hex of Weakness, and Berserking doing stupid things with Mana Burn like getting it down to a 2.1 casting time with maximum Berserking effectiveness, 1.75 if you take the 2/2 Improved Mana Burn talent, or 2.25 if used at full health, making it _kind of_ comparable to TBC Mana Burn depending on the circumstances, and of course it helps to having shorter cast times whenever you drop out of Shadowform to heal yourself.
    All Dwarfs alongside all Priests and Paladins can cure diseases and thus nullify Devouring Plague, whereas only Mages (I haven't met one that has done so yet) and Druids (they have to transform into base form to do so) can dispel Hex of Weakness, and I don't feel like I need to explain why Touch of Weakness is just a worse Shadowguard.

    One thing I would like to see is shadow stacking +shadow sp. It’s really easy to stack in your 40s with items like shadoweave. Adding 100+ SP on top of all the bonuses to shadow damage you get seems like it would help with efficiency. On my warlock I was pushing 200+ SP by my early 50s all with gear that a shadow priest could use too

    Is it generally always better to forgo bonus healing and damage over pure spirit? So one glove might give 4 spirit and 14 heal and dmg and another might hive 10-15 spirit but no heal and damage. What would be better? I am talking about the holy leveling with smite spam and spirit tap.

    • @tekn0de
      @tekn0de  ปีที่แล้ว

      In that example it would likely be the damage but it's not an obvious answer because things usually die in x spells casts+wand globals and a 1% damage increase may not impact the number of globals. In practice it tends to be quite obvious while leveling if something is an upgrade

      A bit of common sense for that question. You probably need the spirit more so for the leveling. That way your regen, dmg, and healing all get a increase. You aren't focusing on healing for dungeon, if you are then go for it.

    16:51 There are some great farming spots for horde wands. The sailors from the keep, burning blade, trolls on the island, and quilboars. And if you’re undead the scarlet crusade and farmers will give you a ton of cloth.
    I usually go from the orc/troll area to trisfal at level 10. Do the quests there and pick up the RFC/WC quests before heading back. You want that crescent staff.

    Absolutely incredible guide, I appreciated watching it a lot!
    I'm not a Priest main myself, and I havn't noticed the fantastic synergy between Spirit Tap and Spiritual Guidance before, nice! In hindsight it feels so obvious!!!
    Spirit Tap affecting Power Word:Shield is interesting. I didn't consider that, but it makes sense, too bad the spell power coefficient is so bad, but it is something!
    Your segment about spell power coefficients is a little misleadning.
    When you compare the spell power coefficients you need to take the cast time into consideration...
    The real reason for Smite having such a good spell power coefficient comes from the fact that you can reduce the cast time with the talent Divine Fury, without affecting the spell power coefficient negatively!
    Without Divine Fury or Improved Fireball, the spell power coefficient per time spent casting is exactly the same for Smite, Mind Blast, and Fireball...
    Mind Flay almost has the same spell power coefficient, but receives a 5% coefficient penalty for having a slow debuff.
    Holy Fire is a different story I think. You say that it has 100% spell power coefficient, which I believe is incorrect!
    Spells that have a Direct component as well as a DoT component are strange...
    According to my knowledge of spell power coefficients a 3.5 second cast with a 10 second DoT would have a spell power coefficient of:
    (3.5/3.5)^2/(3.5/3.5+10/15) + (10/15)^2/(3.5/3.5+10/15) ~= 87%
    This is significantly worse per cast time than Smite, but maybe it has good base damage instead!
    Cheers!

    As 39-40 Holy, do you lose much dropping the 5 wand spec points? obviously you will chuck one in immediately each level but will smite carry enough only having like 1 point in wand? and as HC primarily solo levelling would it be better to go for the mitigation points in holy instead of the healing? i feel like 2 points in renew, 1-2 points in imp healing and healing focus is kinda useless as at the point where you have to attempt healing yourself you probably should start running/leashing instead, and having 5 points in spell warding might be a bit better to save getting 1 shot by caster damage. Btw i 100% understand the synergy of having those heal points when healing dungos, not that priests really need it, but as a straight up solo leveler is spell warding good?

    Paladins are best healers in the game

      vanilla.warcraftlogs.com/zone/statistics/2006#aggregate=amount&metric=hps Priests are best on alliance. Paladins are alright, and have very efficient, but their healing kit is too limited and lacks any instant cast or aoe healing like chain heal or prayer of healing

      Correction. Holy loladin is good on a PVP server. It's the best healer in the game when you get f.. by a high lvl rogue, you can bubble and heal some random peeps getting ganked without instantly dying, making the 60's regret his choice of lowbies to kill

      That's what everyone said in classic (all the pallies in my guild) until we got to Naxx and I was literally doubling the output of the holy pallies on any fight/trash that wasn't Patchwerk. Priest has arguably the best set in the entire game for enhancing the playstyle, T2 8pc set bonus makes downranked Greater heal one of the most mana efficient heal in the entire game, plus you get an additional 15% mana regen from spirit which scales with buffs, world buffs and food.
      Pallies are just the best tank healer in the game by a huge margin but they are terrible raid healers.

    • @server1ok
      @server1ok ปีที่แล้ว

      Everyone in 2005 was ballistic about the crit return to mana. Loladins were stacking spell crit but the morons who were doing that, you end up doing fuck all flashes of light that can't possibly keep a tank alive in Naxx and AQ. On top of that, down ranking a pathetic flash of light that has a high spell crit and thus a lower healing power, so you crit for like 600 and get a 100 % mana back ( actually no bcs you interrupt your regen ) meanwhile, the tank gets hit for 3000. Like I've explained here. Loladins were superior PVP healers and that's what my character was called on a small EU server. "Stoj The PvP healer" this was before titles and I never needed a title. Typically, I went for stamina, resistance, intel, strength ( for reck bombs ) and SP/healing in that order and I was an absolute PITA to kill. Then on raid nights, I was a backup healer and a buff bot and many times, the last healer standing, actually the last person standing out of 40 characters.@@theperfectbeing

    -First of all you get no benefits for being holy for leveling in dungeons your at 100% mana anyways untill lvl 60 dungeons that makes going shadow even prio in dungeons 40-60 cos most of the time you can just dps and keep vampiric on a mob that will keep your tank toped without any heals (dont use shadowform in dungeons unless you just want to burst a boss down)
    -Spirit regen/spirit tap have nothing to do with being in combat/out of combat its inside 5sec rule/out of 5sec rule
    When Spirit tap is on will get 50% of your spirit regen when you have casted a spell in the last 5sec
    When Spirit tap is on will get 100% of your spirit regen when you have NOT casted a spell in the last 5sec
    Spirit tap = doubles your spirit
    - "Meditation is not that good of a talent" Well your going to be inside the 5sec rule most of the time so it adds a 15% spirit regen for you and that is HUGE
    - "SWP is not worth casting it if you dont get all 6 tics from it" Considering that smites 5sec rule start after the spell is cast makes it dump not to lets the last 10% of enemy hp go down with your wand/swp just to get even 1-2 full value from spirit tap
    - At 12:00 calculations you cant just leave out all the benefirst from shadow spec imp swp + holy have 5%miss chance
    "Mind Flay at 36 is dog shit" Still you put lvl42 priest to the calculation with the dogshit the first good mind flay is at lvl44
    -Same thing at the gameplay you showcase scenario where holy priest is at his best and shadow is almost at the BIG powerspike
    Edit:
    Mind flays 5sec rule starts when you start the cast so at the end you only have 2sec left of it
    ps. Download a server tic addon so you can start to play a caster efficiently

      I have to add Holy is not a better spec later. you won't get much more spirit to buff your spell power. The higher the level of Smite you get, the less effective your spell power is.
      Smite rank 5
      160dmg + 100dmg from spell power
      =260dmg/140 mana
      Vs
      Smite rank8
      400dmg + 100dmg from spell power
      =500dmg/280 mana

      This comment is why I made the guide in the first place, because it's clear you are just feels crafting. I'll address your comments in order.
      1) this isn't true, one heal spell will take around 10% of your mana while leveling as you will be max ranking for mana efficiency. You will end any medium to large pull with 0 mana, and if anything goes wrong you will absolutely have 0 mana. You will be a more effective healer in dungeons but this likely only matters the most in hardcore
      2) perhaps I should have talked on the 5 second rule but yes this is how in combat mana Regen is determined for spell casting. In general this means about 10-15s of in-combat time at later levels while killing a mob. And 5-10s at lower levels
      3) pure feelscraft. Realistically you might only get 30 base mana per tick out of combat. That means in combat youd only get 4.5 mana per tick while under the 5 second rule which is gonna mean like 20-40 mana per combat, even with spirit tap. So not even the cost of one spell.
      4) SWP is not worth it for mana per damage if you don't get at least 5 tics. And the 5 sec rule has no bearing on this as smite and SWP both trigger the 5sec rule on a spell cast. The cast time of the spell is irrelevant because you can still get mana tics during the spell cast so you're getting identical mana.
      5) and if I did it at 44 then it's the absolute peak of shadows power and holy has a very old rank of smite, so you'd need to wait till 46 where holy gets a new smite and then it's not fair to shadow. It's all moot and 42 is a fine time to test it. And you will be shadow at 42 anyway if you're following the guide. Also miss chance is factored into the calculations, maybe you should actually do some to verify what you are saying.
      6) again holy is not at a power spike, a more fair comparison might be like 48 but really no matter where you look at it there's no good overlap.

      Good that you checked my comment maybe i can learn you some more things now #pure feelscraft
      1. I have no idea how you heal dungeons even if shit goes wrong maybe you just spam over heals or something. I had 0 issues as a shadow priest healing brd at 55 and that run was not even close to smooth run
      2.
      -On low levels most of the time you will be outside of 5sec (pre 44) close to 80% of the time. After 44 its closer to 20%
      3. Nice calculation there let me teach you something = calculation is 12.5 + (Spirit / 4) in video you had 200 spirit
      62.5mana/tic (btw so you know tic = 2sec you dont even have a server tic addon as a priest...)
      125man/2sec with spirit tap
      19mana/2sec = 47mp5 just from meditation (btw your alweys in combat 44+)
      NOW compare that to palas blessing of wisdom thats 15mp5
      Why do you think priest roll with t2 set even in nax
      #pure feelscraft
      4. "it dump not to lets the last 10% of enemy hp go down with your wand/swp just to get even 1-2 full value from spirit tap"
      i hope you use holy fire at least as a opener... oh no do i need to explain this again
      5. "And you will be shadow at 42 anyway if you're following the guide" No comments on that :D
      There is so much wrong in that calculation that its embarrassing to look at recheck the casting times atleast and join priest discord for some real calculations about the dmg differences
      6. Your wand is sooo powerfull that it will carry you to 40 and after 44 there is not a single level that holy gets even near shadows dmg output untill sp gear jumps in the late game but its still shit

      Look I'm not gonna keep responding to these because I think I made my point, but I will address this specific comment since you're so confidently wrong. 12.5 + (spirit /4) is the calculation for the amount of MP5 you get from spirit, *not* the amount of mana you get per tick. So if you are getting 62.5 MP5 then you are actually getting 25 mana per tic, or 50 during spirit tap. That means during combat you are getting 3.75 mana per tic without spirit tap and 7.5 mana per tick with spirit tap. If we assume absolute best case scenario of 100% spirit tap + 100% in combat time that means you get a maximum of 56 mana back, which is still not even enough mana for a single spell cast.
      First off I speedrun naxx every week and many priests choose not to run t2 set as the mp5 isn't neccessary if you're 12 healing. But regardless the reason that priests would is because in speedruns you often have very little out of combat time for 2 whole hours, so an extra 5 mana per tic can absolutely add up over the course of hours.
