  • Today on the channel we rebuild the Delco-Remy 1107200 starter for the John Deere Model 40 Crawler/Dozer. All of the parts came from Lavoy on the JDCrawlers.com site and forum. This is a relatively simple process, don't fret taking it on yourself! Tune in next time where we rebuild the generator and then work on the dozer to try and get it starting, charging and a bit quieter!

Great that you can get all the parts for the Delco-Remy starter motor in the USA. You got it working perfect. Sometimes the other two pole pieces are used as well, most likely for a 12 Volts starter.

Hi. Love your content. Cant se if you cleaned the end surface of eatch part before assembly? Parts have to be clean of paint. This works as the earth connection. Some starters have a eath wire from the body to the end of the starter(near bushes) I prefer that. If the earth conection through the starter is bad, the bushings will wear out fast, or mayby course damage to the engine. Earth conection from crankhouse is important. It will make a big difference and give you higher speed.

Nice job, you did use the wrong brushes,, the original brush has an offset so they don’t ride so high on com. I did notice you put the com end on first , I do that so I can align brush on com. I have a starter shop and have repaired many old Delco starters and generators.
