Could viper had gone for Jaguars? i guess he didn't have eco behind it but getting arb vs malian infantry isn't going to do much, Jaguar warriors will like 3 shot those swordsmen.
Every time I see Viper lose, it seems to be because of poor choice of unit production. He has both great macro (map awareness) and amazing micro but somehow seems to sometimes make questionable unit choices. With the enemy stuck in castle, he could have either stayed himself in castle and use the resource used on imperial advance and go for a castle and jaguars, or switch to jaguars later when he was in imperial and already had the castle up. Instead he goes for the champion upgrade? He obviously already had all that food, gold AND the castle, why not just make jags?
There's no way he could have massed Jaguar Warriors. He should have prioritized getting the champ upgrade sooner though, he stayed with 2-handed swordsmen for too long taking trades vs the longswords.
