FREE Muay Thai Masterclass: bitly.com/MuayThaiFreebie Fighting Muay Thai as a southpaw has it's pros and cons. PROS: Dominant angles, unique striking techniques, and being fundamentally different than orthodox fighters. CONS: Tutorials are rarely made for southpaws! To help my southpaw friends, I made this Muay Thai sparring breakdown from one of my sessions at Evolution Muay Thai in NYC. I use a combination of teep fakes, long guard, hand trapping, and rear roundhouse techniques. Great breakdown man, thank you, I am a southpaw and was eating much punches because I was "training like an orthodox and fighting like an orthodox", not knowing how to use my left stance the best way, helped me so much!
I’ve been training Thai boxing for a few weeks now 3 times a week and my first competition is in a few weeks and this will help massively because I’ve only been taught traditional stance but because I’m left footed and right handed I should be using south paw
Great video very detailed & informative, as a southpaw finding out techniques like this is always very useful for me as they are far & few. There’s just soo much content for orthodox fighters out there. Thank you 👍🏼 Subscribed💪🏼
@@seanfagan yeah. To be honest I don't throw my left hand any where near enough. With the liver being open to the rear roundhouse, I can land body kicks and knees but not with my hands.
@@oddkidbiker yea to be honest I'd prefer to attack the kidney with my hands from southpaw and attack the liver with my knees/kicks. The angling just making more sense that way
I wonder how you view angles. Everyone always likes to mention angles, but how do you obtain them. What can you do to obtain an angle, and what can you read from your opponent that will allow you to obtain an angle? Especially asking from the southpaw stance vs orthodox stance. Any thoughts? The reason this intrigues me is that I see lomachenko in boxing is a master at this, and I see a lot of muay thai as linear and controlling of the center. I wonder if it is possible to utilize some of what Loma does and apply that to your muay thai. Any thoughts? Thank you for videos
nice sparring, emphasize on control and combos. That's they way sparring should be. You see time and time again that the better "fighter" is sparring like its a championship match. And the less experience student is just a punching bag.
I'm a big fan of technical sparring, very rarely do I go hard. I did the hard sparring early in my career but have learned that I get a lot more out of the light "play" sparring

Sean, I fight southpaw and I find it difficult to land the left body shot (liver shot) can you show any set ups to help land it please?
Like a left punch of some sort?

Who fights southpaw the best in all of Muay Thai?
I would say Saenchai and Giorgio Petrosyan!
Southpaws are OP

2:17. Weird. Your stance is southpaw but you long guard is orthodox. Should've have long guard with your right arm and left arm cover the face
