My dad used to go to the Boundary Waters and lots of other places with one rod and reel. It was an two piece fiberglass with the steel feral and a Johnson spincaster that caught everything from Rock bass to Lake Trout. I would guess that it was really awesome just like that stringer. Maybe you should switch to antique Johnson reels.

And here I thought I was the only back woods heathen that used the bottom of a dome grill to fill with wood and cook over. I have mine in bath tub that is cut in half. Then I have the frame from a old card table over that with the grill resting on top. Some times I use the dome top to cover it with. Every thing comes out done to perfection..

Pro tip. PIKE and Muskie dont mix well with thin nylon stringers. Have lost a whole stringer of em before cause they chewed thru the stringer.
