As a lefty myself, your videos are very educational for me because I bowl very similar to you from your stance, release, and line you prefer to throw. I just recently went back to throwing storm/roto grip stuff and have already purchased the Clone and Hustle RIP as my 1/2 for tournaments. My go to ball had been my Obsession Tour Pearl in tournaments, hoping I made a good choice with these 2 balls. Thank you for the very informative videos, glad to have found a great lefty to compare and learn from!
After seeing this, depending on how the attempted repair goes, I may end up getting an MM to replace my ruby that just got a gouge thanks to a vicious ball return.
I like that you are a one handed lefty like me and i can relate to your style. Looking for a ball down from the Duo in my bag. Hustle M-M looks like a good option for later in the block.
Still not sure I understand how the M&M can be earlier than the RIP. Same exact core and numbers but one has pearl additives and one is a solid. So unless there’s something about the M&M’s colors that make it stronger/earlier…?
This is why the whole pearl-hybrid-solid stuff doesn't work. I'm not sure what the reason is ultimately, but this happens quite a lot. The Hyped Hybrid was significantly heavier rolling than the solid or pearl also. Phaze 4 and 5 are the perfect examples, P4 is very early, chuggy, and heavy rolling, but the P5 was very clean, arcy and responsive. Same exact ball on paper.
I have a lot of "high end" stuff from all major brands. This would be my first mid tier ball since the Camo/2000 surface. I wasn't rolling the ball great when I gave it shot + my friend needed a ball so I gave it away. I always wanted an Ink and I heard this is a rebranded Ink. Just seems fitting. I am a 15.5mph 350 rev bowler coming out the back with a little side rotation. My house has lots of hold in the middle and not a "walled" outside. I lay it down around 18 and look at around the 12 board. Usually gets me to the 7--8 board down lane. Right now my best looks are strong layout on an strong drilled Xponent with 3000 on it and a Motiv Blue Coral weak drilled 4000 finish. What kind of layout you think for this? Im assuming something strong since it's a weaker ball.
I do have a strong layout on this one, and I would suggest that because the differential is so low. I think it will surprise you with the performance, but if you don't drill it strong enough, it won't flare that much, and that will cause issues with the reaction if you don't get enough separation from the oil rings.
I'm looking for a ball down from my Hyroad (ideally for short patterns and the burn), and I'm stuck between this and the RIP. I'm hearing a lot of people say the RIP is earlier than the M&M, but that the M&M is kind of flippy. The RIP feels like the better move of the two, but I'm just not sure. Does the RIP handle a longer and weaker layout well? Would the M&M be better?
The RIP isn't earlier than the MM, people just say that because they think solids are always earlier than pearls, not the case remotely in this situation. You might actually consider the solid Tropical Surge too, but neither will be good for short patterns, cleaner weaker balls generally aren't good choices for shorter patterns, but definitely good for burn.
Either one would be a step down, but the RIP rolls a lot like the Night Road, just a weaker version. The MM wouldn't feel like as much of a step down because it's fairly strong on its own, but it still is noticeably the weaker ball, just again, would be as much separation between the Night and MM as there would be with the Night and RIP.
Do you think there is enough of a gap between hyped hybrid and hustle rip to justify having both looking for second ball for my daughter she's rev dominant
Between those two specifically, yes. The Hyped Hybrid is quite early and chuggy surprisingly, the RIP shares the same relationship with the HH as it does with the MM, it's definitely the cleaner and weaker ball
She doesn't like purple, so that's why I ended up with this one in the first place lol. It WOULD be a perfect reaction for her, she likes stuff that looks like this. She nearly shot 300 with her Duo in league the other night and like I mentioned, it's the same exact shape as this ball.
It's a different process from normal, it's like 500-1000-2000-4000-gloss or something. I think it's dumb to make the surface that smooth to begin with and then obliterate it with polish, but whatever lol.
I want to pick up a Hustle/Hyped, but I'm not sure which one. Bottom of my bag right now lives the Wolverine Dark Moss and Revenant. Excellent work, Luke! Keep it up!
Hyped Solid or Hybrid, Hustle MM or USA would fit well with the strengths and shapes. Hyped Pearl and RIP shape similarly to each other and the DM and Revenant.
I need to get a USA to have the full group to compare, but having seen it from Angel a lot, probably the MM. The USA can be a little slow and the RIP can be a little too clean, but I've used the MM quite a bit already.

Just ordered one! Your reviews are the best out there and I really appreciate everything you offer in your videos. Keep them coming!
Fantastic King Pin reference Luke!

Yep, the MM is a perfect step down from the Duo

Great review as always

Oh good, the bumpers are up in the next lane. All set for my skill level.
I want to get a Hustle/Hype. I have a Phaze 2 and a Night road. I need a step down from my night road im just not sure which would be best.

In 14lbs the ruby is much higher rg, comparable to the M-M and the hyped pearl is actually the strongest. Knowing this which would you recommend?
Probably the Hyped Pearl. It's a really great option, especially for the price point.
What kind of layout would you put on a M-M for a slightly rev dominant two hander who is bowling tournaments with 8 games?
4.5 x 4 x 4 should do nicely.
Which ball would be the best suited for longer tournaments the Ruby or the M-M?
Probably the MM, I think it's more versatile left to right, or you can keep moving deeper with the MM
Good stuff Luke! If Angel gets one, are we going to see what it looks like? Seems like this one might be really good for her. Thanks!
She doesn't like purple, so that's why I ended up with this one in the first place lol. It WOULD be a perfect reaction for her, she likes stuff that looks like this. She nearly shot 300 with her Duo in league the other night and like I mentioned, it's the same exact shape as this ball.
Which 1 is better for throwing mostly straight
I think the RIP is probably the easier one to throw straight, it's not as early or sharp.
@@LukeRosdahl Oh ok does it fit in the same bag as exotic gem if not which ball would fit in my same bag
The Exotic is one of the strongest balls on the market and the RIP is one of the weakest, so yeah they'll fit together pretty easily.
Does anyone know what the OOB surface is? Just says reactagloss, not a specified grit before the polish
It's a different process from normal, it's like 500-1000-2000-4000-gloss or something. I think it's dumb to make the surface that smooth to begin with and then obliterate it with polish, but whatever lol.
I feel like the MM is a better, & cheaper Phaze 5 that actually drives through the pins.
It's a better and cheaper Phaze 4 maybe, the P5 for me has a lot different shape, but yeah it's definitely that type of look and feel.
Great vid as usual. Thanks Luke.
Which Hustle line is suitable for stroker who play typically at 1-2 arrow?
Any of them really, that's kind of what they were built for. I think the RIP might be the most user friendly overall though
Now I know I really need to drill my !Q Ruby.
Im a really low rev lefty would you recommended the m&m or the rip? Definitely like the look or the m&m a bit more.
Yeah I've actually been using the MM more because it's stronger, the RIP reacts good but just wants to be too long for me most of the time.
Would you recommend putting this in the same bag with a hype solid?
Yeah they fit really well together.
@@LukeRosdahl Awesome. Thanks for the reply!
I have a phaze 5 and looking for a weaker ball for when the lanes dry up. Would the RIP or M+M make the better step down?
I think a RIP would, the MM is a fair amount stronger than it's supposed to be.
@@LukeRosdahl Thanks!
Which of the Hustle's (MM/RIP/USA) ball do you prefer if you could only choose one?
I need to get a USA to have the full group to compare, but having seen it from Angel a lot, probably the MM. The USA can be a little slow and the RIP can be a little too clean, but I've used the MM quite a bit already.
Great review luke! How is either ball a compliment to the hustle USA?
The USA is the earliest and smoothest of the 3, it rolls more like the MM, then the RIP is the longer flippy one
That's a good looking ball!
