I visited this a year ago. The entire building is deafeningly quiet, and ill never forget the smell. The rust on the faces made the entire memory void smell like blood. The atmosphere is so bleak and heavy, it leaves just a massive lump in your throat that threatens to turn into sobbing if you tried to speak. There’s SO SO many faces at the exhibit. It genuinely feels like millions when you try to count. When you walk across the faces, the metallic sound echoes off the hard surfaces and sounds like a kind of scream. and the realization that this seemingly immeasurable number of only 10,000 faces is absolutely nothing compared to the tens of millions who perished, hit me like a truck as i stood there imagining that for each ONE face, More than one thousand people died. Why can’t we just love each other…?

You see so many poingant things in Holocaust museums. I saw piles of shoes. Every museum has piles of shoes, there were literally millions of shoes after the camps were liberated.
And since belongings where meticulously collected and reused those piles must have come from the last batch. Most likely a lot of people where probably unknowingly using belongings of murder victims.

we had this vr holocaust event at my school today. It was pretty crazy but the whole experience was very well made. there was a virtual tour guide showing us the camps. we even had actual survivors there

I find it very ironic there isn't any museums for all the victims of Ghengis Khan, arguably genocided at least three nations, likely hundreds more, but not a peep about his victims... well I guess to be fair, to be a victim implies you survived the khans, and very few people survied said encounters in their early years. There was a French village where they separated all the men and women (+ the children). Forcing the women and children into a church they lit on fire and then shooting everyone that tried to escape. They did the same to the men in a barn, if I remember correctly... Seriously, how is that less awful and brutal than what Ghengis Khan did? Because your wording clearly makes it look like human tragedies like this can just... be compared to each other. Do tell me, please. Also, less people talk about monsters like him because no one is left alive to tell the tale. we had this vr holocaust event at my school today. It was pretty crazy but the whole experience was very well made. there was a virtual tour guide showing us the camps. we even had actual survivors there

K I know this is serious but when I first heard him say it had a dark meaning I said “:0 it represents dead people! Like rock’s stick!” (Rock from warrior cats) And then he said “fallen leaves” and I literally said “WARRIOR CATS?” 😭

And as for Fallen-leaves, he was trying to become one and his family told him it was meant to rain but the sky was clear so he didn’t listen, he went in the tunnels and rock asked, “is it raining?” He said “the sky is clear.” So he chose a tunnel to go up, but eventually the rain started and the tunnels flooded, he ultimately drowned in the tunnels and was cursed to stay there as a spirit. But this is not real and is a fictional series!

I find it very ironic there isn't any museums for all the victims of Ghengis Khan, arguably genocided at least three nations, likely hundreds more, but not a peep about his victims... well I guess to be fair, to be a victim implies you survived the khans, and very few people survied said encounters in their early years. I know it was a long time ago, but it really doesn't change the fact it was intentional and frankly arbitrary reasons for said genocidal tendencies, though what genocide is based off of reason to begin with. Also, it was at the hands of men, not guns or planes, it was in their face as rhey chopped, and hacked their victims up, took a long time as well, so civilians often were at the mercy of the khans for days before their inevitable death would arrive, and it was usually at the end of a sword. There'd be invasions where the Khans didn't kill everyone, because they were literally exhausted from killing for days on end.
If you had a museum for every victimised group half the earth would probably be taken up by them at this point

The Holocaust consisted of more than just... people shooting each other.
It was a highly systematic and brutal process. The Nazis literally eradicated entire villages all throughout WW2. There was a French village where they separated all the men and women (+ the children). Forcing the women and children into a church they lit on fire and then shooting everyone that tried to escape. They did the same to the men in a barn, if I remember correctly...
Seriously, how is that less awful and brutal than what Ghengis Khan did? Because your wording clearly makes it look like human tragedies like this can just... be compared to each other.

Also, less people talk about monsters like him because no one is left alive to tell the tale. Technically, the effects of it are still prominent, sure, but only someone who slept through history class would question why the Holocaust is the only/one of the first tragedies of that scale to be as wildly discussed as it is. 💀

I was in this museum for a schooltrip in 8th grade but unfortunately we did not go to this area.
I immediately recognized where this was because I was there myself. This is my favorite art piece in the entire museum because of the way it was conveyed
