Wow this is a brilliant route. Smashing views over Rowlee pasture and very interesting along the reservoirs highly recommended. Thanks once again for another informative video.
Hi Dean good to see you back in the #GloruousPeakDistrict, more specifically, the upper Derwent… :-) Now, you do really have a camera caddy don’t you to carry your kit around haha. I did a walk up to Alport Castles a few months ago and was blown over by the wind a few times. even the micro muff blew away! The bird hide was a welcome escape to literally catch my breath! Love the history of the upper Derwent and thanks for sharing that as always. I was also up Bridge End Pasture a couple of weeks ago. Fantastic views indeed and you captured brilliantly. I think you may have seen the last of the snow for now Dean.. glad you got some of that bike footage from your Ladybower ride in this one too. Look forward to the next adventures. Stephen.
+Stephen Turnock Hi Stephen, it was really great to be back out in the #GloriousPeakDistrict once again and up on the moors. I really must get that t-shirt made with the GPD hashtag on it that I designed :-) The bird hide was a really welcome break from the wind on the day, I had to rewatch your video that you did last year because i couldn't remember it... but there it is in your video too which helps me put a date on how old it is a little better :-) Hope you're well mate, Dean
Dean using your walk in peakroutes (in reverse) I walked Win Hill then on to Alport Castles today. Fabulous day in the glorious Peak District. There was only me in the Alport valley until Ashopton. Great walk good weather - loved it! Thanks for the recommend - hope the farm sitting's going well and you are managing to get out!! Cheers Dave
Thanks for watching Dave. It's a really great route and I love it when you can get the place to yourself. That's the best thing about midweek walking :-) Farm sitting is going well, less than 4 weeks left now and I'm just about to head out for a day on the tractor. All the best, Dean.
Dean walked it again today but from Fairholmes this time. Thought of you in the hide (2016) but no Peregrines today either!! Fabulous walk no-one around. Glorious Peak District. Keep the vids coming and all the he best mate.
Hi Dean good to see you are back in 'gods own' county, an once again showing the 'glorious' Peak District. Thanks for the vid, am looking for a good cycle route, think you may have just given me a good day out . ATB
+David Halewood Hi David, thanks for watching. it was really great to be back out in the Glorious Peak District again :-) The cycle route around the dams is a great one, highly recommended. ATB, Dean
Hi Dean, Local here close to the Peak District myself. Just wanted to say thanks for the uploads i managed this walk the other week thanks to your videos, really inspirational making me want to get out and visit these places :)
+Andy Witham Thanks for watching Andy and I hoped you enjoyed walking this route as much as I did. So many great route options in the Peak District so hopefully I'll have lots more walk inspiration to come. All the best, Dean
That's a really nice route Dean - and interesting observations from you along the way as always. Definitely all four seasons in one day, but that is part of the outdoor adventure. Anyway pleased to see you thank Zed for the shoutout for you - and looks like you will soon be through 5,000 subscribers (probably Bank Holiday Monday, as you are only 20 short). No more than you deserve. Keep up the great work. ATB, Andy.
+MuddyDuck Hi Andy thanks for watching and commenting. I did pass the 5,000 mark on the day you guessed too :-) it was a nice birthday present as my bday was the 3rd so it was an added bonus. ATB to you too, Dean
Brilliant as always Dean. I'm taking he wife to the dales tomorrow to break in her new boots! We were just saying that it would be great to go on a walk with you guys.
+Joseph Bradley hi Joseph thanks for watching. I hope you have a great walk in the Yorkshire Dales today. I was planning on organising a group walk at some point over summer, been saying it for a year or so but think 2016 is the year to do it :-)
Another great informative video Dean ..never been to Alport castles it was a place i was going to visit while working in Wirksworth as sometimes we,d come the Crich way home and pass the sign for it ...def be doing a walk there now thanks for posting ..great watch ..atb ..steve
+Frogmoon wildcamps and wanders hi Steve thanks for watching it's a really great area. The Alport I think you will have seen is Alport Heights as that is near Crich / Wirksworth, this Alport is up near Bamford / Hathersage so further north. Alport Heights is a great spot too though
+Keith Andrews hi Keith thanks for watching. I'm glad my love of the Peak District comes through one screen. I love it up there.... I'm not a fan of the "Go left at the Cairn, turn right and climb over the wall" style instructional videos myself either. I'd much rather watch someone have a great time and I'll work out a route myself from watching the video :-). ATB mate, Dean
+Keith Davies Thank you Keith, I love the Peak District and I really enjoy sharing the joys and the views :-) hope you had great walk at the weekend. Dean
Great to see the glorious Peak District in your videos again, great video as always, truly weird weather at the moment and what a lovely walk, nice jacket too, been out spending😆, thanks for doing these videos, cheers craig
+Craig Twiner Thanks for watching Craig, it was great to be back our in the Glorious Peak District again. My mrs insisted i bought a new jacket as my Berghaus on was looking 'tatty'... who I am to argue :-) haha
If the point of camouflage is to blend into the background then I can only imagine that bird "hide" was originally commissioned for a spot in the Congo Jungle. Beautiful spot and an excellent hike. ATB
Back in the dim and distant past we went to the Youth Hostel at Edale and walked over Kinder to the wierd Alport Castles, then back along the main road and then over Lose Hill to Castleton youth hostel.
+Malcolm Coghill that's sounds like a perfect route, I've done a similar one but started at the Yorkshire bridge inn near Ladybower and walked over that Win Hill to Alport and back via Kinder to Edale and Lose Hill. Thanks for watching
Awesome video again dean, great history on the area. Just a suggestion, could you make a video on bushcraft? like cordage making or primitive fire making etc
+Cinda 19 Hi Cinda thanks for watching. I've not done any Cordage making for years so i'll have a practice before I do it on camera haha :-) by the looks of your brothers Instagram he could probably show me and my mates a thing or two about foraging and bushcraft skills. you both know your stuff.
As pr usual another cracking video enjoyed it again brought back fond memoirs from 20 years back is have done the same as you are now but alas the tech back then was prehistoric . I was up at the dams a few weeks ago and can confirm they were flowing over . keep up the good work ....
+Andrew Seadon Hi Andrew, thanks for watching. it's amazing how tech changes and i'll be interested to see what is here in 20 years time. i'm sure a lot of people won't be going outdoors and just visiting everywhere in virtual reality... that leaves more room for us walkers :-) The dams during overflow are certainly a sight to behold, thanks again for watching and commenting. Dean
thanks for sharing again dean, great video we was there last week didn't know about the falcons we stuck nearer to derwent dam and ladybower dam, think I need to visit there again this week to have a look
just an update dean, I did that walk 30.06.2016 (yesterday) went to the hide and saw the falcons it was awesome to see them flying around. note made in book for record topped a great walk off. wouldn`t have known without you sharing so thank you very much and a big massive thumbs up. ATB Kev

+Christopher Smith Hi Chris, thanks for watching mate. It was good to be back in the Peaks with the camera, I've had a couple of walks without it recently but thought I'd share this one. Must make a point of taking the camera with me every time as there is always lots to see / film :-) ATB Dean
+Sally Heys Hi Sally, I was up on Beeley during the Xmas break and it was a great walk. Will keep my eyes open for Ravens next time. Thanks for watching
enjoyed your video but must point out that alport castles did not form 300 million years ago. The rock deposits did form around that time when the area lay beneath a huge river delta .Much latter in time the area became thrust up into the rocky crags seen today. The landslip probably only occurred within the last 10,000 years due to glacial melt waters.
One of my favourite walks I have done it many times on a good day I would go back down the westend over to the derwent and around to slippery stones. love the vid PS the rain is a normal :) Goretex is an essential
Colin Pearce,Hi Dean yet another great & informative film makes me feel like getting out again,I'm sure it won't be long, still floundering about the purchase of that Aluxe tent or should I just plum for something like a Zephros 2 ?.

Hi Dean, great vids think I saw in your Scotland trip vango tent, I watched your mates ch goonies and how you set your tent up first, if it is could you do a review on it as I was thinking of getting vango 200+ for me and my springer Bradley, if its good enough for you guys then I will get 1, thanks Wayne.
+koshtie Hi Wayne, thanks for watching. My Vango Tent is past it's best now and we discovered that it now leaks a little... we'll Ray discovered that it leaks a little when he got wet during the night :-) haha. It's been a good tent though and we've had it around 10 years and used it many times. certainly worth the money. ATB Dean
+dazjhan bushcraft Hi Daz, thanks for watching and for your kind words. In regards to Ray's videos... My friend Jay and I have tried to convince Ray to upload something but I think he is just too shy at the moment. I'll keep pressuring him :-)
Smashing watch as always ,,, not walked that area ,,, but Mum and dad took the family out into the glorious peak district (yes im sure it was glorious back then ) when I was growing up and I can remember seeing the church steeple showing obove the water line ,,,,,,I think or I was told back then kids would build rafts and get out to the remains of the church etc so the army as a practice exercise placed explosives and blow the church and a couple of cottages up ,,,,
Dean you are just a delight
thats why i like to watch you ina morning with a coffee
Wow this is a brilliant route. Smashing views over Rowlee pasture and very interesting along the reservoirs highly recommended. Thanks once again for another informative video.
