How to Add Crinkle Fringe to the Edges

Crinkle Fringe is a fun afterthought. Add it to the bottom of a sweater or a sleeve, to a blanket or to accentuate a yoke of a sweater. While our practice project is an easy to knit scarf with faux cables you will learn the basic skills to add crinkle fringe to any knit edge in just minutes.
Just remember: the secret to knitting Crinkle Fringe is using the right material. And the right material is 100% acrylic yarn. Yes, you heard me! Raid your yarn stash for the plainest and ugliest yarn! You will be amazed with what you are about to make.

Since no patterning is required, I chose Red Heart worsted weight acrylic to work on my Brothers Bulky 230. The crinkle fringe scarf is the perfect practice project for learning to add crinkle fringe to finished edges, open stitch edges and selvedge edges. It only requires 7 ounces of acrylic yarn. Just increase the amount of yarn to make it longer and wider for a double wrap scarf. Plus it is easy to change it up and make a bunch of variations. They look great and feel wonderful! And, there’s no need to swatch! Just knit! Frankly, any flatbed machine with appropriately sized acrylic yarn can work.
