As you spoke of the anthropomorphisms I was considering why would God offer them. I suspect it is so we can comprehend God’s personal nature, that like a parent He is actively watchful and prepared to our provide for our needs. As for righteousness, I don’t think we have much to offer there but rather He sees us through His Son. We have been justified through Him.
