    Thank You for the study and looking into the soul/life of His servants thing. In time one of us will come across something and share with the other. I don’t know that it’s significant (as we might see the significance of singular & plural mixes when referring to God) but I don’t want to rule it out without good cause. Thanks again, Francis.

  • @jimcr120

    I hadn’t noticed the command not to beak the bones of the Passover lamb until today and now it makes so much more sense. Not only is it fulfilled prophecy but also miraculous in that Jesus was excluded from having His legs broke. The fact that the righteous thief at Jesus side did have his legs broken should resolve toward which righteous people the Psalm is referring. Thank you Francis. What appropriate timing for this verse to be studied as we begin this Holy Week.

    • @lfbcdigital2724
      @lfbcdigital2724 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your point about the thief on the cross is interesting, The timing of this study is not by my design, but I agree that it is most appropriate. Thanks Jim

  • @jimcr120
    @jimcr120 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have 3 thoughts: 1. It makes sense that this verse refers to Jesus for three reasons. He is the only righteous One, the pronoun used is singular, and the following verse which is prophetic would then have this preceding verse as a supporting antecedent. 2. Nevertheless Christians are by definition Christlike and therefore we shouldn’t be surprised when God chooses to use us for His glory. 3. Being delivered from all afflictions cannot mean there won’t be suffering otherwise the verse makes no sense. Rather it must mean that the righteous are delivered through the afflictions, as in God is there supervising it all and in the end it will be good. For this to make any sense we must remember there are both earthly and heavenly perspectives. While carnal man might see something as an affliction, someone as Paul would consider such a thing not even worthy to be compared to what is to come. If we think the purpose of salvation (righteousness) is to have our lives enhanced on earth then we forget so many saints before us as well as the parable of Lazarus.

  • @jimcr120

    Sounds like the flip side idea of where Jesus spoke of the difficulty of a rich man entering the kingdom. Thank you for the study.

  • @jimcr120
    @jimcr120 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    When I think of God’s justice I tend to think of ultimate justice over temporal/earthly justice. Like the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, both died in the states they were in, one rich and the other miserably poor. Things didn’t turn for them in this life. This has long been a verse that sticks out for me because of the final part of losing memory of the wicked. It seems reasonable that this would be the most comfortable way for us to continue in glory. After all, at what point do we cease to mourn over eternally lost loved ones if not when we cease to remember them?

    As you spoke of the anthropomorphisms I was considering why would God offer them. I suspect it is so we can comprehend God’s personal nature, that like a parent He is actively watchful and prepared to our provide for our needs. As for righteousness, I don’t think we have much to offer there but rather He sees us through His Son. We have been justified through Him.

    Are there lessons for Psalm 34:6 & 7? I do not see them.

  • @jimcr120
    @jimcr120 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I see this verse not as a call to repentance but rather a call to trust in God in lesser ways. Since this is His world, His design, it makes sense to follow the directions of the Great Manufacturer. Generally speaking it (life) will "work" better. That does scratch the surface but the Gospel and repentance is certainly much more profound.

    What a fitting verse that calls for togetherness in the face of other calls for separation due to politics and COVID. It cause me to pause and think how to rightly apply God's Word.

  • @jimcr120

    When you say these Psalms would have been perfect without these additions, it provokes a question; are these additions, the doxologies, inspired by God or by men? If by men then should they be considered God's word and if by God then should they be considered less than perfect without the doxologies?

  • @mattdegroft6229
    @mattdegroft6229 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    It is very true. I have met people who have walked away from God and they may say they are ashamed of Christianity but clearly they were not of the faith. One cannot be in relationship with God and not be changed for the better. Thank you for the lesson!

    May we remain humble and seeking the Lord. And as Americans in general we are rich with money but may that not be a stumbling block and I pray that if I have riches that money is the least of all my riches. God is so good and he is worthy of all our praise for his goodness and love forever thanks for the lesson Francis!!

    A note on Paul counting those things as loss, those were his religious credentials, things in which people then and now put their faith instead of trusting in Jesus alone. On the soul as a separate person, does Hebrew have neuter nouns as in English or gendered nouns as many other languages do? If the latter this could come across as ascribing personhood when it’s actually just how the language works.

    Just now finally catching up... Very interesting the 5 parts of the Psalms. On God’s name it seems to me then He calls Himself the creator (one who causes to be).

    Yeah that’s very cool to see the breakdown of the chapter. To see that care was given to the writing of the acrostic and the ability to sing the words reminds us of the importance of scripture. It also shows us that God made man creative as a reflection of his creativity and we can see God Even better through the different genres that he’s given us in his word. They all reflect different aspects of him and different ways to communicate the many different facets of himself to us

    Psalm 34 is one passage I have memorized. When I recite it to myself I try to do so with emphasis in areas as if it were I actually speaking to people and wanting them to hear and believe me. You pointing out the 3 sections of the psalm gives another perspective. Thanks. I look forward to the next one.

    Excellent conclusion to the chapter. We do make every excuse in the book before God but thankfully he can see through our excuses and sees our heart. Thankfully he is not deceived like we are and like Adam and Eve were.

    Thanks Francis, I tend to agree, broken people that are healed can greatly help others who are going through the same thing. May that motivate us in our struggles or in our despair that it may be used to help others. That our pain is not in vain but it can be offered for use by the Master

    So I have definitely prayed much of psalm 51. Very very low points in my life. As well as Romans 7. I also have never really read into the theory that David was not referring to losing the Holy Spirit but only losing favor. That’s interesting to consider. Thank you

    I love it. Sin being ever before me is a real struggle and I think about it daily so I have to think back to the verse where David says cleanse me purify me and create in me a clean heart. Because I can’t do it myself and this is a daily struggle
