    I loved this. It took me a few times of watching. 🙄 By far the BEST keynote tutorial for a digital planner. Trust me. I probably watched too many and got confused. I came back here and was able to understand the master slides which is truly the secret weapon. I split screened TH-cam and Keynote on my iPad and that helped as well. Thanks Genevieve!

    thank you so much for this! I needed to learn this. I got tired of looking for a digital planner that works for me -- not for anyone else - but just for me. And more often than not, I would just settle for whatever I can find online. Watching your video was such a treasure, lifesaver, and oh so educational. I've had my macbook for about a year and a half now, and I'm not a student so I haven't explored much of keynote AT ALL. I literally had to pause, play, pause, play again while watching your video. I had no idea keynote could do this. THANK YOU SO MUCH for this! Sending love from the Philippines!

    I was so proud of my self that I was able to follow your directions and make my own planner! Thank you so much for this tutorial.
    Do I put my stickers and other fun stuff in Keynote before I move it to
    GoodNotes or when it is in
    GoodNotes? I am having trouble being able to pull up my digital stickers I have made in Procreate or bought from
    Etsy for someone else.

    • @genevievemazer
      @genevievemazer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The majority of people do all the fun stuff with stickers and text in Goodnotes. If you are saving them to your camera roll you will open your planner in Goodnotes and select the "photo" tool - its the one at the top that looks like a little photograph. Tap on your planner and your photo menu will pop up. If you have them saved in iCloud, Dropbox, or Drive everything its he same except at the last step you want to select "insert from" instead of tapping an image. Hope this helps!!

I export it as a PDF however when I open it up in Goodnotes or in Procreate( I sent it to my MIL to try) none of the links work in fact in Procreate it won't even open. Can you help me with that. I have searched and searched for answers and havent found any yet.

    • @genevievemazer
      @genevievemazer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Clittle I did the entire creation on my MacBook. Procreate isn’t a PDF annotation app so it won’t read PDFs at all. Alternatives to GoodNotes are Xodo, MetaMoJi, ZoomNotes. Not all will recognize links though. Make sure you read the fine print on the app screen! In GoodNotes you need to make sure that your tools are turned off. There is an icon on the top right that turns off your pen, eraser, etc and when that is active the links become available, I hope that helps!

    • @genevievemazer
      @genevievemazer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keynote has a grid option (I do it by making tables) but to my knowledge it doesn't have a dot grid option yet. So how I do it is to create a dot grid in Photoshop (you can do this in Affinity Photo too) and stick it on my master slide as I would any other shape. I hope they come out with a dot grid option soon!

    Thank you Leni for this amazing video. I just tried your method of utilizing the "edit slides" feature. This made my making changes so much easier. Curiously, with respect to hyperlinks created in Keynote, do you know how to create links that move from one side to the other of the planner? That is, with the monthly tabs placed on the right side, if I were to click on January, for example, it would automatically move that tab to the left side of the planner, like a real one does. If you do, it would be so great if you could explain how that's done, or better yet, create another great video so others can learn too.

    • @genevievemazer
      @genevievemazer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good morning! In regards to switching the tabs to the opposite side unfortunately I know of no way to make it do that like a physical planner except to create a new master for each month. You're essentially taking a document and using it as a book so there are of course limitations. That said, you certainly CAN design each month separately and have it function that way if you choose

    This is such a good tutorial but my Keynote does not show “Edit Master Slide,” only “Edit Slide Layout.” Unfortunately that option didn’t work for my project. Did Apple eliminate this feature? Thanks for your help.

    • @genevievemazer
      @genevievemazer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They changed it. “Edit Slide Layout” now does the same thing. You need to apply the slide that you alter to each slide in your presentation that you want them to show up on. It’s MUCH easier on desktop but can confirm, it does work on ipad as well!

    Thank you so much for this tutorial! Wondering what I am doing wrong... I added links for the weekly schedule as shown, but when I click on any other months other than January, the links take me to the same slides (13-17). What am I doing wrong? Please help! Thanks!

    • @genevievemazer
      @genevievemazer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s difficult to guess without seeing it but if I had to I’d say that the order the slides were created is the problem. So for example if you created the links for slides 13-17 and then created February for example followed by copy/pasting the weekly slides they will still go where you told them to which is 13-17. If you wanted to create consecutive months that will change the links to match you need to copy the entire month including the weeks. If this didn’t make sense please send me an email or dm on Facebook and I can try to walk you through it.

    I liked it. But how to you get your planner to goodnotes in the end?

    • @genevievemazer
      @genevievemazer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In Keynote go to File -> Export -> PDF. Then save it where your Goodnotes app has access (cloud, dropbox, etc). In Goodnotes you select Import from the main screen (not inside a document). Navigate to your PDF and tap it. Goodnotes will do the rest!

  • @xXKenzieGurlXx

    So, I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but after I've made my masters and then start going in to actually fill out my planner, like the actual days of the individual months and things, because the table is part of the master slide I am unable to type within the actual table. I know I can create a text box and just line it up with the table, but that seems extremely tedious. Is there another way around this that you know of?

    • @genevievemazer
      @genevievemazer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it’s something that’s duplicated (days of the week, etc) I make a secondary master with that text. Something like days of the month in a fully dated calendar will need to be added individually. It’s definitely one of the more tedious aspects.

    Hi! Thank you SO MUCH for this amazing tutorial!!! SO much quicker. I am wondering if there is a way to use hand-drawn monthly and weekly spreads from procreate, rather than creating tables in keynote, but still have it be linkable (like from monthly spread to weekly when you click in that week...) Could I just put an invisible table on top of where the link should be? Thanks again!

    • @genevievemazer
      @genevievemazer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! It's super easy to do! Just create a shape (I usually do rectangles) and set it to No Fill and No Outline. In Keynote it will still look like a thin outline is there but that's just so you can see where your shapes are. If you hit the preview button they'll be invisible. Then you can just select the shape and Add Link (CMD+K). Voila!
