    Good job! Motivated me to get my compressor back running. I got an Ingersoll I let sit with gas for a couple years. Enjoy the journey!!

      Good day TB. It's likely an easy fix. And having an air compressor is very handy. I recently purchased a Milwaukee M18 Battery Inflator video #168. It's great for airing up tires with slow leaks and footballs, etc. Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy the journey - cheers

    Hey Bob, haven’t seen you for a while. Everything okay? I see you are often getting more views than me now. This is impressive. Another 200 subs and you can monetize.

      I am fine. It's complicated, and I don't like to put it on TH-cam. But, as you know, life comes before TH-cam. It's nothing major, it just took me out of the game for an inning or two. Thank you for your concern.

    Great idea with the shut off valve Bob. Nice fix.
    Have a great day. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋

      Thanks Noel. I wanted to install one when I bought it, but kept putting it off. I figured, I waited long enough so I opened the wallet and spent the 7 or 8 bucks needed for the valve. Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers

    Craftsman tools use to be the brand to have. Good quality and long lasting. Ball valve was a good idea.

      I agree Brian. I purchased my first set of craftsmen tools when I lived in Mississippi in 1985. I lived in Mississippi two times with a third trip there around 1990 to learn how to maintain a digital telephone switchboard. I was going to start buying Kobalt tools as my new hand tool choice. I don't understand what Lowe's was thinking when they purchased the Craftsman brand. So, I think Harbor Freight will be my hand tool store. IDK - What good is brand loyalty when the brands are not loyal in return. Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers

      Hey Allen, I can't complain about the little compressor. It has served me well. I spent about $20 tuning it up and should serve me well for a bit longer. Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers

    Nice mod there, Bob. Air compressor systems are a 'must have' in the shop. I couldn't get by without mine. So many uses!! Great video, thanks for posting!!!

    I have an air compressor made by Husky that I bought from home depot online. So first thing I did was remove the drain and install a braided line with shutoff to bring it out farther for easy draining. After running it i noticed the pipe coming out of the tank was leaking. So in order to get to it I had to remove the electrical wiring from the switch. Not a big deal but still shouldn't have been a problem to begin with.

    • @botabob
      @botabob  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I like the idea of moving the tank drain for ease of access. I agree, how hard is it to tighten all of the pressurized joints. Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers

      I sure do miss the Sears stores. And what a shame. Why didn't Sears take their catalog business and create the online digital store? Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers

    Nice upgrades Bob. Now your compressor's life has been extended for several more years. Thanks for sharing.

      Thanks Larry. I spent $22 for the parts and if it lasts another year it will be worth the effort. A new Craftsman compressor from Lowe's is about $170. I think I can find something else to spend my money. Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers

      I'm glad you like it. I bought the 25 foot hose, now I wish I bought the 35 or 50 foot option. Oh well. Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers

    How's she goin'? Nice adds to the compressor Bob. That'll serve you well I'm thinking. I like that hose too. I bet it would stay flexible in the cold too eh! Take 'er easy!!

    • @botabob
      @botabob  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Things are good. The hose is very nice. The only negative seems to be its ability to hold dirt. I can live with that. It is a lot lighter then traditional rubber hoses and is very flexible. I don't know how long it will last, but I expect it to give good service. Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy the journey - cheers

      Good day Luc. I've wanted a ball valve on the supply line for 20 years. I figured I would add it while I was replacing the coupler. Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers

      Thanks Ben. It's not a big deal fixing the compressor, but it was easy to film and explain. Not too complicated. I hope it helps someone take the leap and fix their own. Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers - Happy Easter

    Great upgrades. I think our compressor is just over 20 years old too and guess what, we put a ball valve on ours too. Using the soapy water to check for leaks was a great idea

    • @botabob
      @botabob  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's good to hear I am in good company keeping my old compressor in running order. I think I spent $22 for the parts and a new on would cost about $170 and it would not have a ball valve. Thanks for your support for the Bota Bob channel. Happy Easter to all of you in the UK. Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers

    Good idea to add the ball valve. With the new coupler and hose you should get many more years of trouble free service from the compressor. Have a good one Bob!

    I have an upright that belonged to my late father in law and it’s better than 20 years old and just quit working. I haven’t looked at it yet to see why great job with yours Bob. Hope you have a blessed rest of the week my friend.

      Tony, Good luck with you compressor. Not sure I did a great job, but as long as the compressor makes air it was an easy fix and did not cost much to get it back into shape. Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers

    ya those quick connects always leak after a while that ball valve is a good idea.

    • @botabob
      @botabob  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I should have replaced the coupler 3 or 5 years ago. When my air hose coupler blew out I bought a kit with an assortment of parts including two quick connect couplers. I thought about using one on the hose and one on the compressor. When the parts arrived I discovered the coupler used on the hose was different from the coupler on the compressor. LOL Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers

      Good day Len - I hope you all are doing well. A very easy fix. It didn't need the pressure gauge, but I figured while I was giving the old compressor a refresh, I would put a new air gauge on it as well. Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers

    I have a 30+ year old Sears Craftsman compressor also Bob………..It’s the 5gal one but it’s still strong………..they were pretty good for their time. Those green airlines are amazing Bob…….you will love it. Great vid Bob.

      I have never used this type of hose before. When I bought the compressor, I also bought a the Craftsman hose reel with hose. It's okay, but the hose inside of it the worst. I like the idea of a self retracting hose reel, but the I wish the hose included was more flexible. What would you buy today if you needed a new compressor? Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy the journey - cheers

      @@botabob the last compressor I bought was a cordless one by Ryobi and I love it. I use it for my small air nailers. It may have been shown on my “Tire Change “ video a while back. A compressor purchase would depend on the air demand a person has. For high demands the screw type air best but not feasible for the common folk.

      I've been looking at purchasing a bigger one, but I'm stubborn when it comes to spending money. I'm trying to save up to buy a White Farm Truck with a dump bed. LOL Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers
