it's not just the high caffeine, its the high potassium content that's the prob and has a high chance of escalating heart related problems, not to mention the 15mg of sucralose, and just bad marketing to children without an open disclaimer do proper research before making a video.
I work in a supermarket and I've literally seen kids stealing this drink because they know they won't get served for it at the checkout. That's the problem with this drink, it's target audience is young muppets that can't even legally buy it!
Kids have been doing this for ages. Was a thing when I was at school 11 years ago!
I sadly gave into the hype and tried the ice pop flavour of prime tasted so sweet and shit cannot understand how people actually enjoy them tbh but each to their own I suppose.
@@heey_im_mike my guess is that children genuinely have a higher tolerance to sweet things. I'm not sure how old you are but I'm 19 so I'm kind of bridging that gap. From the ones I've tried they're definitely very sweet but I find them decent especially if I am craving something pretty sweet. Also its technically healthier than gatorade, at least their main lineup. I defienetly see myself growing out of it at some point tho
So basically alcohol but for kids lol
Caffeine is not a controlled substance, and as such, there are no regulations or restrictions on who it can and cannot be sold to. So no, there's nothing illegal about a kid buying an energy drink.
A lot of shops choose to not sell it to children for ethical reasons. Which is probably a good thing.
I'm two months into drinking only water and I have way more energy than when I used caffeine in any form. All of this junk can stay gone. Also saves a lot of money.
same. Never drank coffee or caffeine since my adulthood. I have more energy than everyone else in my office. They all drink coffee daily.
@@JatjrI’d suggest your office colleagues have other issues. Studies show coffee has numerous health benefits. In moderation of course.
Energy drinks I’m not so sure…
@@coreywilliams8768that’s true but stimulants get very addictive. And humans start to form a dependency on them. So let’s say one day you don’t drink your coffee even if you drink small amounts everyday, you’ll feel like shit.

You’re not alone 😂
I draw the line at around 11-12 too 😂
I drank a coffee like 40 min ago and ima go sleep ina few lmao. Idk if my tolerance is whack or yours lol
it depends on personal blood presure also. if yours is low, you aint gonna feel it much, but a person with high , just like me, i dont drink coffee at all@@BigballsTerrence

@@BigballsTerrence a bit of both I guess 😂 but I get that too after 1-2 weeks of daily coffee (more than 1 cup/day) it starts making me sleepy sometimes, its weird.

@@Au_Blinky I inject blood in my coffee stream every evening.

From my understanding, companies that sell canned pre workout drinks that put other ingredients in like beta-alanine are only able to put in smallish doses because it's hard to suspend high amounts of other ingredients into a canned drink without it then settling at the bottom or becoming grainy and gross, which then makes the efficacy of the doses basically negligible. Although the convenience and taste of canned pre workout drinks probably makes them suitable for those who aren't needing all the extra stuff and just want an energy kick.
I am a fan of C4 canned energy drinks. They do a pretty decent boost for me.
If you want an unregulated dump of UPF, sure.
I used to drink 1-1.2g of caffeine (2-3x coffee, 2-3monster energy and pre workout) per day (100kg, 6ft 2). Then wondered why my sleep was fcked, my bowels were in pieces and I was stressed and anxious and even developed a severe facial twitch. I don’t drink caffeine at all anymore. My focus is so much better, brain fog is much less, sleep is fking wonderful. Ditch it altogether. And after a while you start to have the same energy and focus you did when you were a kid.
lol dude 1000-1200mg, no wonder you were fucked with that carelessness. Normal people cant use that as a reference
Your circumstances aren't exactly the best to speak out on. You were ingesting a near lethal dose every day and then tell others to drop caffeine for better focus? I'm glad you're feeling better but your issues with caffeine were entirely a "You" problem and not a caffeine problem.
You were on the extreame extreame end of the spectrum of caffine intake, how you didnt have a stroke i have no clue.
Caffine in moderation is perfectly fine, you should have stopped after your 2-3 cups of coffee, the energy drinks and preworkouts were way out of bounds.

I hate how people have painted caffeine as some innocent substance. There are people, like me, too sensitive to caffeine. To anyone who reads this: always test how you react to a substance before really going into it. Once I took the actual full dose of a pre-workout and I had a terrible workout and an even worse evening after. The whole evening was ruined with me just laying down thinking if I'm gonna die, maybe I should've stayed active, I dunno. Now I use no-stim pre workouts.
Regardless the best pre-workout you can give yourself is proper sleep.
There are people sensitive to every single compound on the planet, no matter how generally harmless. By all reason something like Coeliac disease should never even happen but it does.
Thanks Paul for the insight
I don’t consume anything in my day with caffeine and I get to work and I’m the most energetic and lively from start to finish. I’m staying well clear of all of it
A video about nootropics would be great to see! There’s so many out there now and a million different “nootropic coffees.” Would love to see your honest assessment of what (if any) are worthwhile.

Prime is no longer expensive. Its absolutely everywhere, atleast in the uk now.
This video is clearly sponsored by Prime. There's absolutely no reason to buy 100s of cans for a video unless you got them for free.
Thankyou very much. Great info
Great insight from Olima 😂
Damn, dieing of a caffeine overdose sounds absolutely terrifying. RIP to that dude
Pure caffeine powders are banned in a lot of countries because of this. A few grams can kill you and if you're not careful you can easily measure yourself a lethal dose.
You know what's absolutely terrifying? Your grammar.
Not half as terrifying as dying of water overdose. See "Hold your wee for a Wii" contest.

my termogenic has 420mg of caffeine. when i took two (840mg), after cardio i had to sit on the stairs to calm down my whole body was weird like i had a pump on every muscle of my body. mentally i was almost having a anxiety attack, and i never have those, only time i had was on a bad trip from weed lol. my heart was pounding still after 10 min after cardio.
Love the cameos lol

James: * Hates Prime *
Also James: * Buys 48 cans *
😂 I was hoping it was photoshopped…
As someone with ADHD, OCD and anxiety I can't have caffeine as it exacerbates these conditions. I just stick to water and on odd occasions Gatorade for workouts.
Grab water bottle, water, lemon juice and salt. Boom
i have hella adhd symptoms and i find my thoughts just focus more if i load up on caffiene, i never get "wired" from it really, but I can down a prime energy, any other energy drink, high caffiene drink before gaming, studying or working out and i get distracted less... i guess its just different for each person, all my anxious thoughts are overthinking that let distracts me so i guess it just depends on each persons physiology
@@Masa6xdo you take focus medication?
nope, never had it. in the uk they dont prescribe adderall or anything, but i got a lot of friends on ritalin and they say it makes them like zombies xD@@seriessplayer62747
its also important to know how much caffeine you can tolerate and how you resond too it. If you have never taken caffeine its more likely that a higher amount of caffeine has a harder impact on you
I really like your non biased on this
Another video on Prime. I don’t blame you seeing that the first one went viral 😂
i quit caffeine 10 days ago and my stress went down a shitton and my dark eye circles have completely gone
I had one of these before work and it totally fucked me up, monster helped me when very tired as I don't like coffee
There is an Australian regulation on caffeine per ml. That I read about a while ago. 160mg per 500ml is the max amount for drinks “made” within Australia, but they can sell drinks made outside of Australia. Also there is no regulation on caffeine on coffee in Australia. It’s odd
Loving the content. What is the background song you use in some of your videos? Is it Atlas by Lane 8? I've been binging your videos so I'm not sure if it's this one but it's in previous ones, like the bubbly kind of noise? Thanks
Prime has its energy and hydration options and I enjoyed seeing you talk about both. I’d really like to know your opinion on Jocko Go and Jocko Hydrate since they are marketed as higher quality options for both energy and hydration. Love the vids!
It does not even have the right components to be actually a rehydration formular. Prime is just junk. Stop hyping scam infuencers.
Sodiumchloride and Glucose do the trick, two super cheap ingredients. That is the actual legit rehydration formular, since it is not based on osmolytic function, but actual colon bridge mechanism of NaCl-Glucose-H2O that even works if you suffer from diarrhea. Osmolytic rehydration is 1. inferior to the bridge biomechanism and second less reliable.
Just a side note, there are probably other differences between where these are distributed. Monster Energy in the standard 16oz can here in the US is 160mg. I think quite a few others with this same size can are usually within 160mg as well. Usually if a brand is selling with more caffeine (such as the smaller Red Bull cans and equivalent competitors) they sell it as a separate product.
Monster is basically selling internationally in the dosage that some EU countries have restricted energydrinks to contain per 100 mL.
User
outside the us it is very common that the caffeine amounts are much lower than they would be anywhere else in the world?
what does that mean?
In Canada, prime energy has a supplemented logo warning you on how much caffeine is in it. The only other thing I've seen that warning on is triple shot coffees, which have 300mg
Hey James, what happened to the peptide video you mentioned in the semaglutide video?
I can’t handle caffeine, even a normal cuppa brewed too long can make me feel rubbish.😣😩😩
Matching caffeine content with L-Theanine removes the caffeine crash, that is why green tea usually does not give you a crash, by already containing it naturally.
The difference in caffeine content between counties on energy drinks is phenomenal. Whenever Us troops would come over for training they’d bring energy drinks in their conex’s knowing that Australia’s product was different and when we’d go overseas and drink what we thought was the same drink as we would normally drink you’d swear the first time you would have a heart attack
good video mate
I don't bother with energy drinks or caffeine full stop, I feel like when I used to years ago I became dependant to feel like I got a good work out in, now I just have fruit before gym to give that initial increase of energy which allows me to be more psyched up to go hard my whole work out by starting it with a little energy push from the natural sugars.
I tried one ages back. It tastes ok, no where near the best tasking energy drink I’ve ever had. The affect was eh as well
Ages...they haven't been out that long
It's essentially a sweeter Gatorade
The energy drink that the local ALDI sells as a homebrand is superior to this "prime" energy already. And costs 70 eurocents for 500 mL.
Have you done or would you do a video on powder energy drinks like Gfuel? I drink them as an alternative to Red Bull and Monster as they don't make me feel like shit an hour later. I'm also not a big fan of coffee. Though I do drink a lot of the stuff even when I'm not exercising.
Your content is weirdly relaxing lol
Best video so far
Hahahah that 8ball line took me out haha
What brand is your shirt? Looks clean as mate!
What is a quick long term effect of daily consumption of caffeine (150-300mg) for years?
Hey James. I saw your video about Huel and meal replacements. I've followed you on tik tok for a long time and love your no bullshit attitude. I messaged Huel citing you...I'm confused and conflicted. I know you'll probably not see this but if you do, please help cuz they came back with a counter argument to your meal replacement video, for everything you put forward.
Love your content man. Hopefully hear from you, if not, well, I tried lol
Great video
the other day i saw a mother and her kid walk into the gas station i stopped at and she just let him grab whatever he wanted and he immediately bolted to these, i remember when i was a kid my mother told me that i would literally die if i drank an energy drink, now that fact is actually true yet parents are now allowing their kid to do whatever they want
I have question, some people after consuming 2-3 cans a day of monster energy or any other energy drink start to get heart aches is that because of the caffeine or by other nutrients that are present in the energy drink?
Good video, Question. Do you realy get the same effect from say 200mg caffein pill vs drinks?
I always feel my pills give me the better boost, maybe its just me who feel awefull after drinking 0.5liter of energy drinks.
In Denmark we only have Prime without caffeine.
Sucralose can kill half of your good bacteria, this can lead to infections and joint inflammation (I know this personally); yet most people critiquing 'Prime' (which contains sucralose) don't mention this.
Same with red Bull a girl at work had five a day went to hospital
great video👍🏽
Thanks boss
It’s strange how much higher caffeine is in USA.
Reign has 300mg in a 500ml can in USA but 200mg in UK
In the UK (partially thanks to the EU) we have higher standards of food regulation than the US.@@parisferguson8654
Now that we've determined the amount of caffeine isn't alarming, do a video on sucralose as an artificial sweetener.
What about the high caffeine mixed with high potassium? Doesnt that add to the risk?
Nice use of the standing PC table. 😂
Can you do another video on Nootropics please. On what is accessible and over the counter. I don't want to go into the demon web and summon a storm. I just want to get more work done.
The ingredients just tell what you are putting into the body.
Watching you dry scoop pre-workout was hilarious.
What is your view on Morsia Energy 20 200mg of caffeine and well as Beta Alanine and other vitamins.
I'm watching just for the info.
I haven't drank caffeine in a long while
Big fan of C4 before training and a ghost before I'm back to back for 6 hours!
i was having like 600+ mg of caffiene a day, but istarted feel horrible loss of sleep and that. now in the last week iv probably had 600 in total i feel much better

I've always wondered if there is a big difference between drinking energy drinks vs taking a pre workout. I've decided to stop drinking energy drinks permanently (haven't had one since December 2022) however I still take a pre-workout (1 scoop) on days that I need the extra energy for gym. Am i bullshitting myself? or am i making a difference health wise.
Caffeine was shown to still positively influence your athletic ability, even if you are accustomed to it. I add a good amount of sugar to my preworkout.
What’s your view on Taurine? Do all those drinks have it? I know Monster and Red Bull advertise they have Taurine, not sure about the rest.
I stopped talking pre workouts cos they actually made me feel tired and unmotivated, they just didn’t work
My biggest concern would the the guy getting the money from my can purchase
Atrial fibrillation (AFib) is an irregular and often very rapid heart rhythm. An irregular heart rhythm is called an arrhythmia. AFib can lead to blood clots in the heart. The condition also increases the risk of stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications.
During atrial fibrillation, the heart's upper chambers - called the atria - beat chaotically and irregularly. They beat out of sync with the lower heart chambers, called the ventricles. For many people, AFib may have no symptoms. But AFib may cause a fast, pounding heartbeat, shortness of breath or light-headedness.
Episodes of atrial fibrillation may come and go, or they may be persistent. AFib itself usually isn't life-threatening. But it's a serious medical condition that needs proper treatment to prevent stroke.
Treatment for atrial fibrillation may include medicines, therapy to shock the heart back to a regular rhythm and procedures to block faulty heart signals.
A person with atrial fibrillation also may have a related heart rhythm problem called atrial flutter. The treatments for AFib and atrial flutter are similar.

Symptoms
Symptoms of AFib may include:
Feelings of a fast, fluttering or pounding heartbeat, called palpitations.
Chest pain.
Dizziness.
Fatigue.
Lightheadedness.
Reduced ability to exercise.
Shortness of breath.
Weakness.
Some people with atrial fibrillation (AFib) don't notice any symptoms.
Atrial fibrillation may be:
Occasional, also called paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. AFib symptoms come and go. The symptoms usually last for a few minutes to hours. Some people have symptoms for as long as a week. The episodes can happen repeatedly. Symptoms might go away on their own. Some people with occasional AFib need treatment.
Persistent. The irregular heartbeat is constant. The heart rhythm does not reset on its own. If symptoms occur, medical treatment is needed to correct the heart rhythm.
Long-standing persistent. This type of AFib is constant and lasts longer than 12 months. Medicines or a procedure are needed to correct the irregular heartbeat.
Permanent. In this type of atrial fibrillation, the irregular heart rhythm can't be reset. Medicines are needed to control the heart rate and to prevent blood clots.
