I mean I only stumbled upon this precious gem of a video today and already I have every word and every beat down, what's difficult is coming up with the words, the melody of the language you're using, how to wield it like a sword and move people with a minute of spoken word poetry. Rapping is easy, being an artist is hard.

Goner is older I think. In Tyler's single album "No Phun Intended" there's a song called "I'm a goner" with most of the lyrics of goner and less yelling.

@@blackybro3128 I disagree (as someone who focuses overly much on his voice). This original arrangement has an elegance in its arrangement: the words begin with a rolling rhythm. The places he stops to check in with the audience serve to show how invested he is in us understanding him... he's stopping to see if he's getting anything across, and also to think of a different way to say what he's saying. The rhyming scheme, the rhythm, and his intense desire to be listened to carry us into the final line --
no rhyme, breaking cadence, no repetition
death inspires me like a dog inspires a rabbit.
In the original piece, it feels like a fierce argument against something.
In the song, the line is weakened both by the repetition (taking away its abruptness, and making it feel like a sort of mantra), and the addition of the chorus line "Can you save my heavy dirty soul?"... which I never felt added anything to the argument he makes here.
Sorry, didn't mean to rant at you. It's just late and I just really love picking apart stuff like this.

I think what he's trying to say is: Tyler has always told us stay alive, and here he is saying that he understands your dark moments have come and run you over. he understands you are a product of so much hate / insecurity / fragility / tragedy, & he gets your pain is irreversible. he gets its hard for you to stay alive when you've been shot at so many times. but then he's saying you only live once; its time for you to rise above what has brought you down. you may be dead, but you are still here; you are a zombie, still walking around with a limp and a hunch despite all that has killed you. you still have the ability to live, SO STAY ALIVE.

I think that he is talking about the people that are so INTO the media, the trends,"bandwagons" I suppose. Now they, they cannot think on their own, they live in the media and the media feeds them. They wait on the media to spit something new out so they can gobble it up and consume it. So around when those lyrics / songs was out, "YOLO" was in, it was the trend around that time so those, "mindless" people were all about it at the time. Tyler is singing about how he sees them from an outside perspective.

I have to disagree here. I see it totally different. "zombies" are meant to represent being dead inside, existing, consuming but not being truly ALIVE. He calls them "mindless" for a reason - they don't think for themselves. They are usually teens and young adults especially, which he hints with "yolo" phrase. (car radio - "(...) and for us to think is to be alive".
He is kind of throwing shade at the 'mindless zombies' at the industry

Blurryface is the infestation in his mind that only he can see. He can explain to you
who and what "Blurryface" is and you could only picture it, but not fully grasp it. Hence the blurry face.

How things dealt with internally can only be expressed and thought about by others not attached to the experience. Thinking alone is not enough to fully understand what is being dealt with because there is an emotional and imaginative barrier between each vessel. A barrier that can only be felt within the person having the experience. At least in this current stage of evolution ;).
That last sentence has always somehow frightened me. A few people believe we used to communicate in that nature, but I have no place to even speculate. That would be something else though - to see the future stages of our evolution.

Jorge P Or that death causes him to run faster and do things that he wouldn't otherwise do. I think that he's comparing himself to the rabbit. When chased by a dog, rabbits will do a lot to get away. I don't think that he means he's running from death, because in another song he basically says that death is inevitable. I think he's trying to personify his feeling of motivation caused by the idea of death- just as personified his insecurities into Blurryface- so that they might be easier to comprehend.

This was the start of Blurryface. As we all know, this poem ended up being the lyrics to 'heavydirtysoul', which is the first track of Blurryface. At the end of this video, we all hear Blurryface himself taking over. It all started here.
blurrykatie No, it started even earlier. With the first version of goner in 2007, then the one from 2012. In these verions you can hear the noose. It represents Tyler hanging himself. He gave up and let his depression win. Then in the 2015 goner Tyler wins and that's the whole story.

how i interpret it is that death is inspiring him to do something with his life and to create something of himself. dogs chase after rabbits the same way we are chased by the inevitable death. i think he feels like death is approaching day by day, so we have no time to waste.

***** To add on, just as its an inevitable outcome that the dog catches the rabbit, its inevitable that we as humans - who have only a certain amount of time on Earth - act and make something of ourselves, before death catches us.

I just did my math homework and my brain won't work
I see it as a running rabbit chased by a dog. Rabbit was "inspired" by a dog to run as fast as it can. The threat of death makes us more aware of being alive and at times motivates us to do unbelievable and impressing things.
