We stayed in one of the cottages within the distillery and Jackie did our Ardbeg tour, she was outstanding. They were so accommodating and it is a place that will hold very fond memories for me. I will never forget Jackie describing peat, it was so passionate and descriptive. Looks like you guys had a great time and the interview is awesome. Great video guys :) HIT THAT LIKE BUTTON PEOPLE
As fantastic as I expected it to be. The drone footage is phenomenal! Just sitting on that pier sipping a bunch of Ardbeg would have made my whole day/week.
A very nice overview of your Ardbeg visit including some wonderful drone views by Roy 👍. They really captured the distillery and surrounding area. I see that Bart got to sit in the green leather Ardbeg chair in the Chairman's Study during the tasting at the end of the tour 😁. For that Full Range Tour, the 5 drams are usually the Core 4 plus one of the Ardbeg Day releases. Sometimes, depending on the guide and size of the tour group, they also include a 6th bonus dram. Some of my bonus drams in the past have included Alligator, Supernova and most recently, the 22 Year Old. Some of their other tours/tastings include the special bottlings and cask samples. Cheers Scott and Bart 🥃!
Islay is such a relaxed and magical place, seeing your footage brought me right back to the windy day I sipped a dram in the same spot with a great friend last year. Makes me yearn to return!!! Great footage and a gem of a video!!
DJ Beacon yup very similar to clam chowder. While in Inverness I learned it simply means “soup from Cullen.” Cullen is a village in Moray, Scotland, on the North Sea coast 20 miles east of Elgin.
The Ardbeg visitor center was closed on March 31st, the day when my tour went there... We did, however, get to tour Laphroaig and Lagavulin on that day.
Had to sip on some Ardbeg 10 year while watching this.... Former law enforcement here------it makes sense that the two of you are likely cops on the same or neighboring departments-------TOTALLY have that chemistry going between the two of you..... I can just hear the "Car 54" tv show music------"Scotch Test Dummies where aaaare yooooouu???" :) p.s. It never fails to happen on the palate when I add a few drops of choice spring water to a healthy dram of Ardbeg 10-----FRUIT EXPLOSION and that oily briny smoke just lingers and lingers and lingers.............. SLAINTE!!!!!
Wonderful video! Love the drone shots, and the interview. Also Duane Large is such a great guy! I loved hearing what she had to say about him. I was lucky enough to meet Duane a while back at the John Glaser event at Vine and Table.
You must be doing something right for the weather to improve with the sun coming out while Jackie brings out the special stuff including a SuperNova. Just about perfect!! You must be counting the days to go back. Cheers!!
big up dummies! how nice did that work out! so happy for you guys, the trip looked amazing! great to see how this amazing place, islay, brings out the sentiments in people, me 100% included. been there once and it has me in it's grasp :p you've been islay'd
So Ardbeg was your first distillery. Hard to beat that. Is Port Ellen open to the public? I agree, if I'm doing a tour, I don't want to taste the core expressions that I already have at home. I want the good stuff, even if I have to fork out a little cash. Great review.
Do you recall if being by the ocean changed the nose of the dram you were sampling? I notice that when I go to the Black Hills, the 3000 foot elevation change there from where I live really intensifies my sinuses. Thanks for sharing. :0)

Was that Roy's drone? Those shots were awesome
absolutely roy's doing!
I´m a bit disappointed that the sign on the wall wasn´t turned into "Bartbeg" that day!😜
I like the way you think.
So Ardbeg was your first distillery. Hard to beat that. Is Port Ellen open to the public?

@@ScotchTestDummies Is Port Ellen still open to the public, being that they were and maybe still a closed distillery?
