- The Eaton's Special was an operation chartered by the Eaton's Company where Gray Coach and then TTC buses would ferry passengers between Eaton's Queen Street and College Street stores. The service operated from October 30, 1930 into the 1970s, with the Eaton's company arranging a nostalgia service during its Hail & Farewell Sale celebrating the pending closure of its Queen Street store ahead of the opening of the Eaton's Centre in February 1977. Richard Glaze was able to chronicle the operations of this unique service, giving us a view of downtown Toronto and Yonge Street not seen in over 45 years.

My grandfather was a mechanic at the T.Eaton Co. from 1929.. sponsered by the company, as a Russian refugee, until his retirement in the late 70;s
I remember getting caught in the revoving doors of College Street, not to mention the wooden escalators!
Later, my dad was a VP, and my first retail job was in the ABSTRACT departmentment, three below level.
the year the T.Eaton Centre frist opened... Sole jeans, suites, ties, printed t-shirs, spun the latest albums, and even modeled for a one-off fashion show. I was 16!!!!!
great job for the great vid guys!!
Thank You,
I remember/recognize pretty much, ALL of it.

This is really interesting! It's funny to think of this now, when it seems so easy to get between the two on regular routes.
