    Excellent I've done similar using tailscale to create a VLAN, then remote access to my pc and the connected radio a ftdx101 - no need to buy the scu-10. Also use my tailscale VLAN to access my other remote radio in the country a ic7300 using the rsba-1 software. The icom is direct connection so no need to remote to the server pc.
    Well done thanks for sharing your set-up.

    Great stuff. I see how the Discord or SonoBus works between computers. But how do you get the radio audio into the host computer? Do you use the ARCP 990 to do that? (In my case it will be Win4Yaesu). Would one tap into the audio via that route?

    A walk around of the actual hardware would be good. Do you leave the radio switched on in the office, or can you switch it on and off via laptop?

    • @DXCommanderHQ
      @DXCommanderHQ  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can switch it on and off. Sure, I can do a full walk around and you'll see..

  • @SimonBlandford
    @SimonBlandford ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you need a GSM switch in case the whole thing goes pair-shaped on TX and you need to cut the power? Probably not an issue with VOX SSB though since it will always (hopefully) fail silent if it fails.

    • @DXCommanderHQ
      @DXCommanderHQ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ideally, a totally independant switch would be nice that's not on the same network, sure.. I have 3-min timeout on TX right now and on a reboot for any reason, PC comes back on line. But I'm looking at 2 x further switches: Emergency-Off Radio and Emergency-Off Rig. Good question.

    Cal, thanks for this video. Im situated in urban area, and attending a club in the city center, our antenna being a tuned long wire, I can feel all the noise and poor reception issues. So the plan is, to build a remote station in the countryside. Only problem is, this software operation may be a little bit annoying during contest, not being able to spin a huge VFO dial am I right? That's why I'm looking forward to buying TS480/IC7700 with detachable front panel, and substitute the stock cable with serial connection over internet. One guy from DL1 doing this, but it's kinda risky and experimental

    • @DXCommanderHQ
      @DXCommanderHQ  ปีที่แล้ว

      Or.. you can run with a Flex 6400 and remote VFO maybe.

  • @ve3pcp

    RemoteHams is also free. You can host many operators at the same time. I've had up to a dozen on at the same timne. I use Anydesk to get into my station PC if I need too.

    • @DXCommanderHQ
      @DXCommanderHQ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I can demo that too.. Instead of AnyDesk Rob, try Chrome Remote (it might work even better, who knows), then you can disconnect and let folks use remote..

    • @ve3pcp
      @ve3pcp ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DXCommanderHQ I only use Anydesk to do things on the PC like approve new members in my remote or restart the RCFORB server. Start a livestream. I can also use it to operate FT8 on the rig set up with RemoteHams. Set freq with remote hams and then WSJT-X with Anydesk.
      I have two computers in my shack as I have 2 remote stations. So I use the second one to livestream when I have operators on my hf remote. I can access either remotely and set up and start OBS to Livestream. When I operate either remote station though, I only need to use RemoteHams. It also has built in interface for any auxiliary devices like amplifiers and rotators that are able to be computer interfaced.

      OK Jeff.. Assuming you can do digi-modes (FT8 etc) then we can get you working. WHilst we are waiting, see if you can at least download Chrome Remote Desktop on 2 x machines and at least start the control side of things.. If you are brave, you can then also move to SonoBus. It's an audio program. Works great. You will all of a sudden be away doing it :)

    How you configure discord?

    • @DXCommanderHQ
      @DXCommanderHQ  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You need 2 x accounts. Create a server and add yourself as a participant.. Then add a voice channel. Your Discord microphone on the remote end is actually your radio (mic) .. (so you can hear yourself) and your speakers on the remote end is the other way around.. Locally, configure as normal. COnnect both. Switch off ALL voice effects / auto loudness / noise removal etc.

    Excellent! I have the same kind of setup with my remote station, but it’s using TeamViewer, HRD, Log4OM2 and the radio is a TS-850SAT, and it works brilliantly! Sadly, it’s an ADSL connection so there’s not enough upstream to have a panadapter display up and running, but I have a local WEBSDR a few km away from the remote station which seems to work just fine.
    The PC is an Intel Nuc which automatically starts up when it recognizes that the power is back. I am using a smart plug to turn everything on when it’s going to be used, and it’s turned off when everything’s supposed to be turned off.

    Very nice and very usable solution. May be adding a kind of PTT with a mouseclick somewhere (arduino + python app or whatever) ?
    There are plenty of remote desktop systems (VNC, Microsoft, Teamviewer...), some of them are taking care of the sound.
    Personnaly I use ANYDESK. The TCP/IP trafic is not very high, the induced delay is correct, including for the sound in both directions.
