Make sure you're wearing headphones for this video There's also another 3xxx models of PS1, but they were only made in Japan. This video literally took me 2 days to make. I hope you enjoy it!
Can you do the same with PS2's? I've been waiting for someone to upload this type of videos, i think things like the frame rate (in GT4, replay) could be tested or something like that
Definitely an interesting test here, although with only 1 of each console it's hard to rule out individual console differences rather than the model-specific ones. I imagine stuff like the 20-something year old laser quality/wear would probably be a bigger factor for disc load times than just the model, even when booting to BIOS cause of how long it'd need to take to check that there's no disc inserted
Every console's laser has been cleaned out with 99% Isopropyl multiple times before making these footages, also each console had multiple restarts on the startups and I've only uploaded the best startups I could get with these consoles. Lasers are WAY too fine on all of them, they don't make any weird noises or get stuck when they should be moving. But yeah like you said, can't really fix worn-out laser... They all survived it's era, I just did the best I could to make this video with all of them running close to perfect.
Oh my! It's the same TV that my sister did have until 2011! It was really annoying to see the *E1 1* OSD during gameplay and the number of the channel during TV watching without even having an option to remove said indication (while the one grandma that is still alive used to have - until 2011 - another model of the same TV manufacturer that I believe didn't have that number always in the screen). Obviously I was mentioning 2011 since we passed to digital in that year and we upgraded the TV with new 16:9 aspect ratio DTVs
i recently got my first PS1 a few days ago for 17 bucks, it is a 900x model and it works just fine! it even included a modchip wich the seller didn´t know existed! Glad to see i got a good deal and that the revision is among the best
I got one free a few years ago, and it works great. I go to peoples homes everyday as an internet installer and customers always give me free stuff, I also got a Dreamcast for free. In both cases, the son moved out and left them there. Older parents just said take it lol
I have 1001, 7501, and 9001. Would be interesting to try a comparison like this for those three someday, as they hit an interesting range-- the first, the supposed best, and the last. It'd be interesting to see how other titles load up on those three, especially any games that may be considered more demanding.
BK4, Hey man! I 'd like to request something... What happens if you trigger the fearful harmony but when it`s on the error screen you put a PS1 disc? This could be really interesting :)
Holy shit that SCPH-550x runs like a Mazda Demio in Sunday Cup, so slow. SCHP-101 gang here, the same console I got in Christmas 2001. My one and only PS1.
I never knew there were that many variants i saw this. It also made me bother to look at my PS1’s to see the exact models. I have an 101, with a fat screen that i had for as long as i can remember and a 9001. Also, loved your 24 hour live stream by the way!
I have two PSOnes. They're the cutest consoles ever imho, and you can't go wrong with the PS1 game library, although I think the Dreamcast is a close contender on both aspects.
Comparing all ps1 models? Not really, i don't see the Black NetYaroze, the rare Blue PS1, Green ps1 and red ps1. As well as the devkits with double the ram. Insert nerd emoticon here. All jokes aside, the ps1 still is the best console in my heart.
I have SCPH5552 but his laser is dead so I getting used 7002. A lot of good memories with Crash 3 Warped, Gran Turismo 2, Rayman the great escape, bugs life, colin mc rae 2.0......
@Hugo Guidon Well, they're *very* unreliable. Sometimes they'll stop reading discs or skip FMVs, I know this because of personal experience because my childhood PS1 is an early 1002 model.
Now i understand why there's so many different Bios on the Internet for the PS1 Emulation. I was always wondering why the Hell there's so many different Bios and which should i chose? Now i understand why because there are so many different Models.
1000 5500 and 5550 are the pal consoles, because the background of the bios 7000 7500 and 9000 are ntsc because the bios background 100 has the same background in all regions
When I was 5 years old I got a PsOne, that was my first console and I still have it today, but the lens don't work and I don't have the original "charger" (forgot the word), so I use one from a ps2 that is 1 volt higher. Is this secure?
SCPH-1001 and -1002 isn't "one of the first Playstations ever made". The very first Playstation that were ever made was the SCPH-1000 of the Japanese region with s-video. Later the SCPH-3000 model came out without s-video and this model was sold in US and Europe as 1001 and 1002
oh so i have the 2 fastest one ps1 nice! i just hate the fact that ps1 9*** don't have the serial port, still i need a psx scph- 5502... i love this bugged bios
So the test results - it doesn't matter lol, they're all nearly the same. And it's highly variable considering things like laser's strength that may diminish as the PS1 is getting older. If there's some sort of hard disk solution existing for PS1 and you can load games on it, it would've been easier to compare.
Jesus, you got alot of PS1s
Seeing as he’s BK4, it’s not hard to see why. 🍕🍕🍕
The PS1 tribe
it's for science
I will collect every model of every PS ever. Thats my dream tho. I guess if you will search how many ps models are there you will be scared asf

5:03 this right here explains the horror of booting up a ps1 or 2 as a young one
Scariest Jumpscares 😬 Scary ALERT !!!
Perents that buy a broken one for their kids with firfull harmony:kid: what’s this :dad: it’s memory’s. *kid runs in fear 😨
the red screen is what scared me
The ps1 red screen was scary
Especially hearing that from the disc drive, sounds like it's broken
Damn bruh I wish I had that many PS1s. Gotta love the classics am I right?
Can you do the same with PS2's? I've been waiting for someone to upload this type of videos, i think things like the frame rate (in GT4, replay) could be tested or something like that
Not bad idea ngl. I heard that some PS2 models are a little faster than older ones
Definitely an interesting test here, although with only 1 of each console it's hard to rule out individual console differences rather than the model-specific ones. @@BK4 Yeah there's only so much you can do without consoles straight out of the factory lmao, good work trying to get them all cleaned first though
Interesting comparison there!
I’d like to see you do all the PS2 models next :)
PS1 Startup any% speedrun
Oh my! It's the same TV that my sister did have until 2011!

But... what happens if we put GT2000 in them?
LOUD YELLOW CAR APPEARS MAGICALLY

1:17 really scary scene for my childhood

More scarier if fearful harmony...
So from what I'm seeing, not only does the SCPH-900x models have the least errors, but is also the fastest
PS1 Factory worker, huh
I was just talking about different loading times between different ps1 models
Bk4, always answering the questions I didn't know I had.
i recently got my first PS1 a few days ago for 17 bucks, it is a 900x model and it works just fine! it even included a modchip wich the seller didn´t know existed! Glad to see i got a good deal and that the revision is among the best

you definitely need to compare all PS2 models - that will be the most interested video comparing them.
BK4, Hey man! I 'd like to request something... What happens if you trigger the fearful harmony but when it`s on the error screen you put a PS1 disc? This could be really interesting :)

0:34 Fun fact: That's the perfect TV to use PS1
The fastest is the SCPH-1000 (the japanese one).
PERIOD.
I have two PSOnes. They're the cutest consoles ever imho, and you can't go wrong with the PS1 game library, although I think the Dreamcast is a close contender on both aspects.
the symphony of ps1's crying out in delayed unison had me laughing so hard for no reason

Why did they go back to the older PSX menu on the newest psone? Is way worse looking than the blue one.
ntsc J sCph 100x has banding issues, sCPH 300x in eUROPE
1:42 music to my ears
I have SCPH5552 but his laser is dead so I getting used 7002. A lot of good memories with Crash 3 Warped, Gran Turismo 2, Rayman the great escape, bugs life, colin mc rae 2.0......
I personally have an SCPH-9002. I think the last few phat models are the best and people should avoid the 100x and 550x models as much as possible
@Hugo Guidon Oh yeah, those too..
@Hugo Guidon Well, they're *very* unreliable. Sometimes they'll stop reading discs or skip FMVs, I know this because of personal experience because my childhood PS1 is an early 1002 model.
@Hugo Guidon Its the best model overall, its design is amazing and is the most reliable!
@Hugo Guidon No, not at all. It's just they can be very unreliable and that's it.
Now i understand why there's so many different Bios on the Internet for the PS1 Emulation. I was always wondering why the Hell there's so many different Bios and which should i chose? Now i understand why because there are so many different Models.
I have a 9001 and a 5501 that is having a hard time reading discs and it’s loud, might have to mod it and eliminate the optical drive
My man living the dream, making videos in a house with a ps1 floor.
Mine is 5501 and the disc stops spinning at a certain time and I need to open and close it every once in a while😫
Nobody cares loading times if they are that short difference
I remember the gloves 👴
La 1002 no es la primera. La primera es la 1000 con salida S-video de Japon

Hi
The PS1 experience right here!
I want to buy playstation 1 with games
4:32
Ok, but better version of this comparison would be if you use only one selected cd reader, replacing it from one to another unit
Nice to see how the original consoles stack up. Also thanks for blowing my ears out with the Personified Fear!
I have a model called "PS one" (SCPH-102) and the laser doesn't feel like to read the discs. I would like to have a fat model.
oh so i have the 2 fastest one ps1 nice! i just hate the fact that ps1 9*** don't have the serial port, still i need a psx scph- 5502... i love this bugged bios
Mine is 7502 , modchipped. I love it
is it mm3 modchip
What year are they all from? Like each model?
So the test results - it doesn't matter lol, they're all nearly the same.
And it's highly variable considering things like laser's strength that may diminish as the PS1 is getting older. If there's some sort of hard disk solution existing for PS1 and you can load games on it, it would've been easier to compare.
Gran Turismo but it's a championship and the only car permitted is a PlayStation
SCPH5502 by the looks of it. The model with top opening CD drive, PAL 50hz, with Sony proprietary AV cables.
