The A&T formation isn't normally like this, to answer your question. They had issues with enough seating at this game and had to cram everybody in as compact as possible! That's why they are arranged like this!
Check out that very last chord though on NCCU first song. Somebody missed that concert Bb or was out of tune. Great battle though! NCCU sousaphones and T-bones clean and clear! Both bands had good arrangements.
Tank would have been a dope selection if it sounded good . Trumpets struggled the entire time. Sound got thin in sections. Now nccu Tubas all day long was holding the entire band .

Directors of NCCU are from Delaware State (Head Director), NCAT (Assistant Director), NCCU (Percussion & Other Staff) Respectively.
The Director that was conducting is from A&T. Band Director is from A&T as well.

That tuba setup is common for many non SWAC and PWI Corp style bands.
I feel like NCCU trumpets need a whole lotta milk, but good job to the arranger working around the weaknesses to highlight their strengths.
They need about 15 more but as a former band member I’m proud. EAGLE PRIDE!!!!
