      geo metric being gay causes none of those things, AIDS especially. Ever heard of protected sex? Single parents exist, gay or not. What’s going on in some of the African countries is terrible and American catholics have a lot to do with that. I’m not gonna waste time arguing on youtube when our view points are much too far apart for a productive conversation. Good luck to you.

    • @sierrakamau1510
      @sierrakamau1510 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@angellawless7413 Do your own unbiased reasearch. You will see for yourself the truth that the western media suppresses. Do you think society would need 'protected sex' if people were monogamous? Research monogamy among homosexuals, you will be totally shocked. Just coz single parents exist doesn't mean we should endorse a motherless or fatherless union as 'family unit'. African countries have solidarity and think for themselves. They take the pulse of their societies and make their decisions. They are discouraging homosexual propaganda (same with Putin by the way), and have tough laws to safeguard their own borders.

      I know, Whoopi, the self-appointed-knower-of-all-or-will- cram-her-opinion-down-your-throat-on-TV" didn't make it to English class (or history class). She only worries about being black, therefore she missed the boat on the "Women's Suffrage" movement. She is an idiot. She is constantly ranting about how EVERYTHING exists to suppress blacks and discounts that some people see the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman is one that is being trampled on. Like trans wanting to use the ladies room, gays are not happy with a civil union (which is open to everyone -- and should be - as it is the government sticking their nose in our business). They want churches to be FORCED to wed them in their religious ceremonies (after they stop off at the Christian baker and FORCE him to make them a cake, etc.) . . .

    • @maximumrisk2004
      @maximumrisk2004 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You appear to be a piece of work KenneyGirl. So in your opinion it lowers the value of marriage if the wrong People get it? So if homeless People could drive around in Ferraris, would that change anything about the quality of the Cars?
      Have you ever seen a properly transitioned trans Person? I would really love to see your Face the first time a big and buff Guy enters the Womens bathroom, since thats where you want them.
      As for Marriage, you have your beliefs and even if you do not approve, there are millions of Homosexuals that share your faith including the sanctity of Marriage. Funny thing is, first off you should learn to differenciate between Marriage (Church) and Marriage (State). A Church and Priest may decline to marry a Gay couple, however that affects only their spiritual connection. A Civil Union is not the same as a Marriage for the State and you dont nearly get the same benefits. Thats not special treatment, they only demand their relationships to be recognised just like everyone elses.
      Just to make one thing clear, nobody should be forced to do anything they dont want and I hate those assholes that sued just because they were not served. However beside that, your faith should not impact how others life their life. There are countless of Churches who perform Wedding ceremonies for same sex couples and in their faith its okay.

    • @skenney8325
      @skenney8325 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      maximumrisk2004 About 85% of what I said is what you said - but you took it and slammed it back as some sort of insult - like you made it up. I believe I said that the government had no business deciding who could marry. Every government union should be "civil" union. And the government should not be able to say who and who cannot get "hitched" if they are to be in the business. "A properly trans . . . whatever." There is no such thing as a person "transitioning" to a different chromosomal entity. As usual, hate comes from the left.

    Elizabeth represents many people in this country who don't seem to understand what the Constitution is about. This is not a country of voting for what the Constitution dictates. Yes, you vote to elect a President -- you are voting for someone to represent you. You do not get to vote for who deserves "Inalienable Rights" "That all men are created equal". The entire point of the constitution and the so called "Activist Judges" is to guarantee that everyone in this country shares equal protection under the law; even those whom you do not share an opinion with or agree with. There is no "gay marriage". There is only Marriage, a legal contract to which a portion of the population have been wrongly denied.

    • @rtpricetag3536
      @rtpricetag3536 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      cornflkeboy1 You have entirely ignored the separation of church and State, yet the Constitution guarantees the right of free religious belief. The word 'marriage' is found (only) in religious ceremony called 'marriage', this is a wedding performed by a (religious) church. The same (wedding) is performed under civil law in a Civil Court, this also a union of two consenting people. Is it 'religion' you are trying to establish by 'gay marriage', then see what the Constitution says about the sanctity of the church, and the right to deny religious 'marriage' where they believe it a sin... Start your own religion, much of it is already obvious in America.

    • @cornflkeboy1
      @cornflkeboy1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      DeWayne Benson I am not concerned with the religious institution of marriage. If the Catholic church does not want to marry me, I certainly have no interest in forcing them to. What I am speaking of is the Civil institution. It is a legal recognition and status, and ALL citizens are guaranteed equal protection under the law. Legislators cannot pick and choose who deserves to be protected under law and who doesn't.

    • @rtpricetag3536
      @rtpricetag3536 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Correct, you have your protection found within the US Constitution (civil law), not religious ceremony of marriage. Although Christians will tell you, as I will also, your eternal security is found only with God.

    • @robmckay5421
      @robmckay5421 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      cornflkeboy1 I think you are right. What you wrote is logical, just and true to the intent and meaning of the Constitution. I am not an American. I am a New Zealander. I live in New Zealand. Our government voted voted in favour of gay marriage in my country several years back. Australia is yet to follow.

    • @urzasbouncer
      @urzasbouncer 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You both bring up great points. The name of the form people fill out at a courthouse is for a marriage license. That license does not end with just being considered "married" it also grants a lot of other benefits. The ability to make decisions as a family member in an emergency situation and other things. I do believe a church that does not want to marry a same-sex couple has that right. There are many churches that will do that though,

Why not get worked up about the awful way the rich countries exploit the peoples of the THIRD WORLD, or the warmongers in societies - THAT is a great sin if ever there was one. Any kind of inequality is wrong.

    See here is why I am with gay marriage: allow it and don't get married in the church because they don't allow it in doctrine. There is a separation of church and state so don't force the gay marriage in churches and don't force your religious believe in politics.

    • @silviegrimarddosser3517

      Politics, justice and religion are interrelated, Canada and America were founded on Christian Values, our Forefathers believed in the Bible, they followed it, we are ONE NATION under GOD, our American and Canadian justice systems are 100% founded on the THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, you can't separate them for as long as you live you will never be able to separate God from our Countries, we belong to Him, our laws, our politics although have strayed from sound judgement are still first and foremost based on the TEN COMMANDMENTS. It is still wrong to kill, to lie, to steal, to covet, to commit adultery, to disrespect your parents and or elders, however who in heaven and earth gave us the right to omit the first 4 Commandments; Worship God only, Don't have any idols before Him, don't use His name in a dishonorable manner and keep One day a week Holy unto HIM and for rest? If we are going to follow good sensible laws we should follow all of them not pick and choose to follow what suits us or else we will bring judgement on ourselves...God is Not dead, God is there whether you accept it or not, whether you acknowledge Him or ignore Him, the fact still remains that HE IS GOD and He rules !

    • @skyleradams5566
      @skyleradams5566 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Silvie Grimard Even though they believed in a religion (I do not think it was Catholicism but I'll need to check) they also wrote that there is a separation between church and state so that it doesn't take over politics. So yes there are things that relate in government such as not to kill or steal, but that is a moral thing in itself. And in my personal opinion when people talk about the 10 commandments, they say to follow it word by word. But in the 10 Commandments it never says anything about marriage. So you can't follow that alone. And on the pick and chose issue, some would argue that they pick and choose about being against gay people, but skip over the part where you can't eat shrimp and wear a poly-blend shirt. So this is why it should be separate- because no matter what church cannot interfere in political matters and the state cannot interfere in church matters, unless it involves law-breaking things. The only thing a religion can do is have the people vote.

      Honey, buy yourself a history book and go to reading classes. When you have learned to read , you'll find out, that Americans stole the country from Indians, killing most of them, and the rest were put in reservations. So there is ABSOLUTELY NO GLORY about the foundation of the country. IDIOT!!!
      And you can throw the fiction fairy tales out, you will be no wiser from reading them.

    • @MaeNotEast
      @MaeNotEast 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Silvie Grimard Guess again! You might hear a lot of evangelical talk coming from some American politicians (usually conservatives) but you'll rarely hear it from a Canadian politician. We don't like that. Our country was not founded on the Ten Commandments. It had a hard enough time getting started. It didn't need to worry about referring to the Bible for every decision as well. I don't think God was ever mentioned in any incarnation of the Canadian Constitution. As it does today, Canada was obviously aware of the many religious sects of its citizens at that time and didn't think it wise to favour any one religion by involving it in the laws of the nation,
      As for the present day, well Trudeau made sure the "state" stayed out of "the bedrooms of the nation" when he decriminalized homosexual acts in 1969. He also "almost" quoted a Toronto journalist by adding that "what's done in private between adults doesn't concern the Criminal Code."
      He also legalized contraception and breathalyzers for suspected drunk drivers and got rid of the death penalty. Though I suspect he rolls over in his grave every time some murdering scumbag gets paroled after 12 years.

      AHH PAINT YOUR PICTURE , YOU PAINT IT WELL,, AND ALSO I WILL PAINT MINE
      "Faith or Works of the Law" Messenger: ~Liliuokalani Makalani~
      Galatians 3
      3 You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. 2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?[a] 4 Have you experienced[b] so much in vain-if it really was in vain? 5 So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? 6 So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”[c]
      7 Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. 8 Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”[d] 9 So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
      10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”[e] 11 Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.”[f] 12 The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, “The person who does these things will live by them.”[g] 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”[h] 14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
      The Law and the Promise
      15 Brothers and sisters, let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so it is in this case. 16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,”[i] meaning one person, who is Christ. 17 What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise. 18 For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.
      19 Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator. 20 A mediator, however, implies more than one party; but God is one.
      21 Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law. 22 But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.
      Children of God
      23 Before the coming of this faith,[j] we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. 24 So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. 25 Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.
      26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. AMEN~
      Prayer: HEAVENLY FATHER ,HELP US TO REALIZE, WE ARE NO LONGER UNDER THE LAW, BUT GRACE..... ~LILIUOKALANI MAKALANI~

      Frodo: I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.
      Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you were also meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought.
      Galadriel: It all began with the forging of the Great Rings. Three were given to the Elves; immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings. Seven, to the Dwarf Lords, great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls. And nine, nine rings were gifted to the race of Men, who above all else desire power. For within these rings was bound the strength and the will to govern over each race. But they were all of them deceived, for another ring was made. In the land of Mordor, in the fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Sauron forged in secret, a master ring, to control all others. And into this ring he poured all his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all life. One ring to rule them all. One by one, the free peoples of Middle Earth fell to the power of the Ring. But there were some who resisted. A last alliance of men and elves marched against the armies of Mordor, and on the very slopes of Mount Doom, they fought for the freedom of Middle-Earth. Victory was near, but the power of the ring could not be undone. It was in this moment, when all hope had faded, that Isildur, son of the king, took up his father's sword. And Sauron, enemy of the free peoples of Middle-Earth, was defeated. The Ring passed to Isildur, who had this one chance to destroy evil forever, but the hearts of men are easily corrupted. And the ring of power has a will of its own. It betrayed Isildur, to his death. And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend. Legend became myth. And for two and a half thousand years, the ring passed out of all knowledge. Until, when chance came, the ring ensnared a new bearer. The ring came to the creature Gollum, who took it deep into the tunnels under the Misty Mountains, and there it consumed him. The ring gave to Gollum unnatural long life. For five hundred years it poisoned his mind; and in the gloom of Gollum's cave, it waited. Darkness crept back into the forests of the world. Rumor grew of a shadow in the East, whispers of a nameless fear, and the Ring of Power perceived. Its time had now come. It abandoned Gollum. But then something happened that the Ring did not intend. It was picked up by the most unlikely creature imaginable. A hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, of the Shire. For the time will soon come when hobbits will shape the fortunes of all...

      You try to avoid all sin, however habitual sin which is a conscious sinning even thou you know God says it is sin. Of course, we are all born sinners and there is no one good in God's eyes, even thou He loves us - this is why He made a way for our sins to be forgiven thru Christ Jesus. When you are Born Again in Jesus, you repent of your sin, especially from the habitual sin and follow Him. You will always sin while in this flesh, but it is something we need to run from as best possible. You cannot see the Kingdom of God is you like the darkness and decide to stay in sin consciously.

      kassop Too bad plenty of states have allowed cousin marriages for much longer than same-sex marriages, with plenty of these states still banning same-sex marriage (as in specifically outlawing it in their constitutions) while still allowing cousin marriages. If cousin marriages haven't lead to grand/parent-child marriages or sibling marriages by now, same-sex marriage sure as hell won't do it.

      @@83jdc1 To be clear Obama didnt "approve gay marriage" but he did do several things to help make it a reality. This included ordering his justice department to not argue against the suit that was before the supreme court, Filing an amicus brief in the Prop 8 case, and became the first sitting president to come out in favor of gay marriage which of course had an effect on public opinion and therefore The Supreme Court (rightly or wrongly many of the courts rulings take into account public opinion). In addition Obama had appointed two justices (Sotomayor and Kagan) to the court that ruled in favor of gay marriage (in a tight 5-4 decision) and certainly he took that into account along with a host of other issues when selecting them for the bench.

      There is a difference between feeling uncomfortable in a lockerrom with someone thats gay but not give a fuck what they do behind closed doors and someone who thinks hateful things towards the LGBT community.
      I'm gay, I know what its like growing up in a fucked up environment. I also know its grating to go against the expected "norm". I get why some people feel uncomfortable...but hate is a whole different subject. That is something that can only be brought out through a belief system, even if its from some archaic book used to brainwash the ignorant.

      "Thousands of years before..." are you serious...like wtf. You're talking about a time where people believed the world was flat and the earth was the center of the universe. People didn't know anything and didn't have the capabilities to expand there knowledge without society condemning them.
      Also fake disorder? Faking feelings...so being with someone you love unconditionally is fake, but when religious leaders rape and marry 16 year old girls its called real love?
      And a disorder? You do know homosexuality is common in nature, even in animals that mate for life? And let me guess your reply "we're not animals!!!!" Evolution says otherwise, but if we are going to go on the theory that animals are "unchanging creatures with only simple instinct"...then that just describes you.

My cousin had a gay male friend in Dubai, and when a guard saw him kissing his boyfriend in their car, he called the cops and they were both sentenced to jail for 18 years. That's fucking ridiculous! Things are even worse in other places like Iraq, where young gay teenagers were tortured and crushed with cement blocks until they died. So yes, things might not be very bad for homosexuals in America, but they are living in hell in other countries. Open your eyes people and stop discriminating.

    There are certain parallels between the black struggle and the gay struggle, but what I find even more weird about this discussion is that we are discussing these two groups as if they are exclusive. Does it not occur to anyone that black gay people exist? With this understanding, it's clear that you cannot compare these movements. Comparing the gay struggle to the black struggle does erase the black struggle. And it also erases the existence of black gay people. Parallels can be drawn, but they are simply not the same thing.

    As a gay person I'm always offended when people say "don't compare the two groups/struggles!!" We - all people - have more in common than we have differences. But unfortunately the more we stick to "no, we're different" - the more we set ourselves back and distract from common goals towards equality and justice...there's strength in numbers....I wish more black people AND gay people understood that and didn't constantly bash each other, and I've seen it from both sides so many times....

I think the title was referring to gay being a "new," popular culture to support, like black being the most popular color to wear. Mind this isn't anything against the black race, homosexuals, or the view. Just my perspective on it the title The Advocate chose.

    James 2:10, "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it."

    • @spiritualthinker2
      @spiritualthinker2 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do have the protection of marriage.....assuming you're willing to follow the rules of the institution of marriage. The rules aren't saying that homosexuals cannot get married at all, for that would be discrimination. The rule is saying that if someone wants to get married they have to meet a certain criteria.
      Homosexuals have a habit of making people think that homosexuality is not a behavior but is something innate like skin color (for example) and therefore they and other pro-homosexual advocates argue as if homosexuals are a racial class that is being treated like 2nd class citizens and denied rights. In America, homosexuals are not being denied anything especially the institution of marriage. Homosexuals can enter the institution of marriage the same as anyone else assuming they're willing to abide by the rules set forth by the institution:
      1) one man and one woman
      2) both parties must be of legal age or get parent/legal guardian consent
      3) both parties cannot be closely related (no incest)
      4) both parties cannot already be married (no polygamy)
      5) human marriages only (no bestiality for example)
      But the problem is that homosexuals do not want to abide by the rules because the rules do not suit their homosexual behavior. People are equal because of dignity, a dignity that is the result of being made in the image of God, but not all behaviors are equal (because some behaviors are harmful and even deadly) and should not be treated or seen as such. Homosexual behavior does not benefit society (it does more harm than good) and thus should not be encouraged or promoted. Homosexuals do not want equal rights, they want special privileges and exemption from the rules. How? If you do not want to abide by the rules but you still want to reap the rewards, that's not equal rights. That is special privileges and maybe even favoritism. Where's the equality in that?
      If homosexuals and their advocates want to cry "discrimination" because of the rules listed above, then technically, bachelors could cry discrimination since marriage requires two people, minors could cry discrimination, incest couples could cry discrimination, polygamists could cry discrimination, and people wishing to marry their pets could cry discrimination since these rules do not allow for the behavior of such people.
      To take things a step further, non-handicap people could cry discrimination because they're not allowed to park in handicap parking spots. If all people are to be treated equally under the law but non-handicap people can't park in handicap parking spots, is that not a form of "discrimination"? Shouldn't such "discrimination" be against the law?
      WHAT ABOUT CIVIL RIGHTS?
      Access to marriage is not a civil right. In America, our civil rights are very specific rights that are accorded to individuals because of their status as humans. These rights are based on universal characteristics, not on feelings, desires,"orientations/sexual preferences", or volitional conduct. Our civil rights are the following:
      1) freedom of religion (or conscious);
      2) freedom of speech;
      3) freedom of press;
      4) freedom of assembly;
      5) the right to vote;
      6) the right to life;
      7) freedom from involuntary servitude;
      8) the right to equality in public places;
      9) the right to due process of law;
      10) the right to equal protection under the law.
      11) the right to have private fire arms
      Marriage is an institution, not a civil right. The government can legitimately define an institution and limit its membership in accordance with that definition or the government can choose not to recognize any institutions (including marriage) at all.

      ***** Or....gays can just change the rules. That seems to be working out pretty well. Legal marriage is a license....not an institution.

      Tifany Stills Legal marriage may be a license but the institution of marriage is a natural concept that goes well beyond any license and was established way before man made laws. Marriage licenses merely demonstrate that a society has chosen to recognize a natural institution that existed way before their very own society and is a benefit to their society thus this is why that society is choosing to recognize that natural institution. Homosexuals can change social (marriage) laws but that would be like trying to get a law that says apples are now oranges and if anyone says otherwise they will be punished. Homosexuals can change social marriage laws but that doesn't mean that law corresponds with nature or reality.
      If homosexual unions are the same as heterosexual unions,
      * then why must homosexuals change the rules?
      * If same-sex unions and heterosexual unions are naturally the same, then shouldn't the rules naturally apply to both types of relationships without any changes?
      * Is it because homosexual unions are not naturally the same as heterosexual unions that they must change the rules?
      * By changing the rules, aren't homosexuals really arguing for special privileges and not "equal rights"?
      In this case equality means you want to be included. No rule changes necessary...you just simply want to be included. Special privilege means not only do you want to be included, you want to change the rules to suit your behavior and maybe even legally punish anyone who doesn't agree with your behavior.
      * If homosexuals change the rules, do other special interests groups have the legal and moral right to also change the laws of marriage so that their once taboo relationships can now be seen and celebrated as marriages?

      Tifany Stills ..marriage is a union of 2 people in love..just because you can't look at us and see who we are doesn't mean we aren't. You can try to wrap this up in a cute little package but hate is hate and you Christians always have to have someone to finger point to. We are gay because we were born that way. The big letters is a MAN WRITTEN BOOK the whole bit that they were instructed by Jesus or god by no means makes it all fact and comprehension of what is said is pick and choose with you guys. When will you vote laws in to stop you from divorcing. . We both know you won't do anything to stop you from having rights. Your hypocrites....end of story. Now we can marry the world is still spinning...

    Rosie and Whoopi fought over this same topic (a fight which made Rosie leave her second run at the View) and Whoopi had the opposite opinion. She didn't want Rosie to equate herself and being gay with how African Americans are treated.
