Another great species profile, Daniel! I was just watching your one on peacock gudgeons the other day, too. Amazing footage of the developing snail eggs! I think whether or not something is a pest really depends on the situation. I really like keeping these snails in with my shrimp, and don't mind them too much in other tanks. Really nice, hope you have a nice weekend! 🙂👍
Thanks ever so much Tara. Yes totally agree whether something is a pest or not relates to the situation. That's part of why commonly referring to these and other snails makes me feel uncomfortable. For many of us they are a joyful and interesting part of our aquariums hey.
thanks for the profile and the lovely close ups Daniel......you know we love snails and we've had and currently have just about all of them in one tank or another! 7:55 love when they do this lol
Thanks for the video. I’ve used nerite snails for the last nine years but got tired of buying replacements. Now I know to look forward to dive bombing behavior after they arrive.
Ramshorn snails seem very resistant to low temperatures and a friend of mine raises them outside all year round. Now they are also available in different colors. Have a good weekend Daniel
👌🏼 Great video. Quality is outstanding. ..so clear! I have cuttle bone in both my tanks but they never seem to bother with it . I'll be trying the egg shell tho that's a good shout.
I found them today in one of my tanks. They got here by accident, but I fell in love with them. Currently feeding them zucchini because I love seeing the way they move
Great video!! I keep them in all my tanks I can too. Would be great to witness eggs on the glass to watch them grow as you showed. Very neat to see! Liked & Subscribed to your channel as well. 👍
Canned green beans (no salt added, of course) are a very convenient, if lazy, thing to feed them. I always have some green beans in the tank for them regardless of whatever else they may be getting or finding to eat. And they definitely love those green beans for sure, they eat them up completely.
I got these guys for free, I guess they hitched a ride on the plants I ordered, now I'm just setting up a new tank just for them, damn sneaky little bastards 😂
Haha ... yeah they seem to enjoy piggybacking thats for sure. Always best to quarantine everything from a fish store including plants as ive learned over thee yrs. Snails especially can be pesky little critters
Your ramshorn snails are really fun! I've got a group of them since a month and seen fun things as well 😂😂 I have had no baby explosion yet, but I hope to get more now that I've moved part of the group to a bigger aquarium. I initially kept them in a nano aquarium. I have one question: do they breed with any colour? So leopards with any of the other colours for example?
There a joy for sure! I guess they become pests to some when their numbers become more than they're comfortable with but that will be a video to come. 😉
I keep them in my 50l tank. They keep the glass fairly clean. My java fern leaves, however, have holes in them that I don't recall being there before I introduced ramshorns. Mine don't need a calcium suppliment because my tap water is about pH9million. They are just as interesting to watch as my platys so they are a permanent tank inhabitant.
ph9million haha.. Yeah they're super good fun hey. My guess would be it isn't the snails putting holes in the Java Fern but perhaps a difficiency, something they're not getting enough of possibly potassium.
I have an aquarium set up in my son's room of bladder and ramshorns, together with zebra danios. It's a fun tank. Always something to watch ❤ I love snails 😂
Dear Daniel: For me, adding Planorbarius corneus, to an aquascape is completely anathema, to what I’m trying to accomplish. Although they will devour left-over, fish food and put a dent in algae, I find the look of snails disagreeable, particularly in large numbers, such as this “pest-snail” species. Thank you for sharing, this intriguing look, at this, puffer-fish live-food. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar
Crack small ones to feed to your fish. My betta fish will devour them if I fracture the shell exposing wriggling pink meat. He has grown robust and healthy on live snail.
I started with a couple of hitchhikers now have loads lol they are quite fun how speedy they are I swear thet make it to the Corydoras food before the Cory's and watching guppies try to steal veg of them is funny
Would Japanese Algae eaters eat Ramshorns I have them in all my tanks my main tank heavily planted comunial tank I have found 4 of them dead I have cuttlefish in there but never see them on it Thanks for video
Just discovered I have a unit of a ramshorn snail that was growing in my small 1 gal shrimp breeder he is maybe reaching over 1inch or a little bigger than my thumbnail
Great video!! I keep them in all my tanks I can too. Would be great to witness eggs on the glass to watch them grow as you showed. Very neat to see! Liked & Subscribed to your channel as well. 👍
It’s amazing how every snail has evolved so dramatically different that even the egg laying process differs so much great video Dan 👍👍
Thanks man. Good observation too and you're right. Pretty cool how each has evolved to be successful in it's niche hey.
Hello “Daniel Keeping Fish”! Thank you for showing us such a wonderful video! I feel so happy! I look forward to your next work! Have a nice day!
Thanks very much. You have a great day also.
This is by far, the best introduction to ramshorn snails. Great narrative, cadence, and acknowledgment. Keep on! Thank you!
Thanks ever so much.
Very in depth review Daniel. Both me and Donna enjoyed it.
Thanks guys. Really enjoyed making this one.
I started breading them in my fish tank to feed to my koi as a treat once a week. Did not expect them to be so entertaining to watch.
@warrenali8151 they're good hey? Wouldn't believe a snail can be so much fun till you keep them I reckon.
They're so cool looking, great information on them.
Thanks very much. Some of the other colour types are another level of cool again but yeah great wee snails. Love them.
Great video. Never knew some of these facts about this cute snail. Thank you for featuring this breed of snail. 👍
It was fun. Really enjoyed making this video. Thanks.
Another great species profile from DKF
Thanks very much mate.
Great info and amazing footage really enjoyed watching .. they were having a feast on all that vedge .. how adorable are those little eggs
Thanks Mandy.
I know right? Super cool watching the babies develop.

This is good information about the 🐌🐌🐌
Thanks Crystal.
🇮🇪 wow very cool video sharing
Thank you.

Haha.. yeah they're pretty good fun. Enjoy them!
Really great overview on these snails. The audio and video 10/10 very impressive 🫡
Thanks ever so much Fathom. Loved making the video, they're pretty cool snails in my book.
Ramshorn snails seem very resistant to low temperatures and a friend of mine raises them outside all year round. Now they are also available in different colors. Have a good weekend Daniel
Yeah same. I've left some outside by accident here in Scotland and they've survived. Not sure surviving it the same as comfortable though mate hey.
Very informative Dan. Great species profile.
Thank you very much. I enjoyed making this video. Really like these wee snails as you can probably tell.
👌🏼 Great video. Quality is outstanding. ..so clear!
I have cuttle bone in both my tanks but they never seem to bother with it . I'll be trying the egg shell tho that's a good shout.
Thanks very much mate. Might be they don't need it. If their shells look good they're getting enough already. Thanks again man.
I found them today in one of my tanks. They got here by accident, but I fell in love with them. Currently feeding them zucchini because I love seeing the way they move
@sin3358 for sure. Once you've kept them for a while can't help but fall in love with them hey.
THIS VIDEO IS THE BEST
Thanks very much Gregor. I enjoyed making it so I'm glad you enjoyed it.
@@DanielKeepingFish I should be getting blue ramshorns soon and im very excited for that.
Great video!! I keep them in all my tanks I can too. Would be great to witness eggs on the glass to watch them grow as you showed. Very neat to see! Liked & Subscribed to your channel as well. 👍

You did an awesome job on this!!! Very "Nat-Geo".
Thank you very much mate. Hope I did them justice.
I got these guys for free, I guess they hitched a ride on the plants I ordered, now I'm just setting up a new tank just for them, damn sneaky little bastards 😂
Haha.. there's worse surprise presents to get.
Haha ... yeah they seem to enjoy piggybacking thats for sure. Always best to quarantine everything from a fish store including plants as ive learned over thee yrs. Snails especially can be pesky little critters
Great job... I get them confused with pond snails that seem to explode in my shrimp tank..
They do like to dive bomb 😂
Full view on reg speed
Haha... they're dive bomb experts. Do you know I've not seen a pond snail since I was a kid but remember being fascinated by them too.
Thanks Chris.
Very informative Daniel thank you, i have enough to deal with, with the MTS 🙄🤣
Trying to avoid snailmageddon then haha..
@@DanielKeepingFish it's a losing battle 😧
I like the ramshorn snails. I laugh at their constant breeding.
My blue mystery snail (Gary) is my favorite though.
They're so much fun hey. Gary must be some character if he steals the limelight from all your Ramshorns haha..
Your ramshorn snails are really fun!
I've got a group of them since a month and seen fun things as well 😂😂

I have one question: do they breed with any colour? So leopards with any of the other colours for example?
They're pretty fun hey.
They will interbreed and the babies end up being whichever was the dominant gene.
@@DanielKeepingFish oh, nice to know! Thanks 😀
These are cool used to have loads in the shop as you say so call them pests but they do a solid job in any tank
There a joy for sure! I guess they become pests to some when their numbers become more than they're comfortable with but that will be a video to come. 😉

Crack small ones to feed to your fish. My betta fish will devour them if I fracture the shell exposing wriggling pink meat. He has grown robust and healthy on live snail.
Never knew that size does matter!
Well I found the science behind it quite interesting and makes sense when you think about it. But also lol. 😆
I started with a couple of hitchhikers now have loads lol they are quite fun how speedy they are I swear thet make it to the Corydoras food before the Cory's and watching guppies try to steal veg of them is funny
Haha... the snail and the Cory had a race... 😄
And the Guppies trying to snatch food off of them. Too funny haha..
Would Japanese Algae eaters eat Ramshorns I have them in all my tanks my main tank heavily planted comunial tank I have found 4 of them dead I have cuttlefish in there but never see them on it

Just discovered I have a unit of a ramshorn snail that was growing in my small 1 gal shrimp breeder he is maybe reaching over 1inch or a little bigger than my thumbnail
Yeah sometimes they get pretty big. Pretty cool when you find a big one like that hey.
I love 'em.
Thanks for not shouting.
Great video!! I keep them in all my tanks I can too. Would be great to witness eggs on the glass to watch them grow as you showed. Very neat to see! Liked & Subscribed to your channel as well. 👍
Thank you very much. I bet if you look closely you'll notice egg sacks more often than you think and you will be able to observe that process too. 👍
@@DanielKeepingFish I definitely will be looking much closer now after seeing this video!
