I am convinced that this generation of badminton players is nothing compared to the generation of badminton players which Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei, Taufik, Peter Gade, and Chen Long belonged to.

General level is way higher than it used to be.
Peaks are however lower than when LD, LCW, CL and TH used to play and on that I agree.
Of all the current top players, only Axelsen and Momota before his accident had the same level of footwork and shot quality as the former 4 in their prime.

We all are waiting for the next LD + LCW. Game looks way smoother when they play. and the speed was incredible.

Badminton has become much more practical and fundamentally based, speed and quick points are the main component of the current era (hence the high frequency of unforced errors). Loh Kean Yew, Ng Tze Yong, Lakshya Sen, Koki Watanabe, Christo Popov, Naraoka, etc are players with amazing speed and athleticism, just lack of game IQ and footwork flow compared to the old generation but raw power and techniques are there.

@@BadmintonLogic one of the reasons we are experiencing lower quality of games at the highest level is because much of the resources of the respective badminton organisations were devoted to the greats when they were still active.
LD, TH and the others were already the focus of their country's badminton scene the moment they entered at 17-18 years of age.
Consequently, there logically would have been a drop, however minor, in the resources assigned to coaching the then present young talents when these guys were in their prime and hence we get to Viktor, now the no.1 player, after a large gap i.e.Peter Gade and Malaysia, Indonesia and China lag behind the rest because it hasn't been that long since LD, LCW and TH retired.
That large gap between VA and PG at least proves the fact to some degree

      I agree with you
but I think only momota, axelsen, ctc, ginting really play badminton beautifully by adding their color and style to their games which is the thing that have to the games of the generation before them
