The Freewing Avanti with X45 has been my favorite plane for years and will continue to be. As you are new to this I can’t blame you for being optimistic as to the X45 fitting straight in. It requires quite a bit of foam carving especially with the big bellmouth you have. I fitted the complete Paul Applebaum kit with epoxy tank and bespoke double-walled thrust tube. Will follow your build!
I would make a canopy latch and not rely on those magnets. I've had it blow off and it was super hard to land due to the aerodynamic drag. It would wallow and dive. I had to use full flaps and land with lots of power to keep the nose from diving. It was a hot landing with flaps. I made a spring and pin latch on the top rear of the canopy and two dowel pins in the front. On my second one, I used two pieces of ply and two thumb screws on the back sides of the canopy and dowel pins on the front. That looked much nicer. Subscribed. I look forward to seeing this build get in the air. Should be a fun and rewarding project.
Following! I did my first turbine this past summer. There is no going back 😂. What a hoot! I did the AeroFoam L-39 with Kingtech K70. I also Use FRSKY Tandem X20 Pro. Excited to follow your build!
Budget jets are my favorite builds. The big jets just get out of hand. My first turbine was the AF F22 with a swiwin 80. I love it. But it was still outrageously expensive.
Is that 2000 dollars or sterling? Loving your practical, back to basics channel. Nice to see a channel that builds and creates stuff, kinda sick of the endless EDF unveilings on other channels. Minimum effort for maximum views seems to be norm now.
Filmed on the first day of September? Have you flown it yet? :D I'm really interested to see how it goes, and I would love to hear your comparison between this turbine version and the EFD version.
Please be sure to read through your turbine manual to catch all helpful information when setting up your turbine. Also remember to keep your fuel filtered very well, keep the line and festival fitting clean as possible to avoid debris getting inside the fuel injectors and clogging them up. Be sure to always purge your fuel line for at least a minute with it not hooked up to engine to flush out any potential debris in your fuel lines.

@@FarmerFpv that’s brilliant advice thank you 👍🏻
I don’t understand, the Avanti canopy has a catch at the front and a latch at the rear. It never came off, and I fly the X45 max throttle a lot.
@ yeah checked mine last night and it does have a catch already 👍🏻
Nice! I’ve always wanted a Turbine. Perhaps next season 👍🏽
@@MattTakharRC yes go for it Matt 👍🏻

@@flyboywbl excellent thanks for the follow! I have an X20 pro too 👍🏻
Nice video. I´m looking forward to the rest.

@@williamhammond3998 yeah it’s crazy how much some of the big jets are 👀
I will be watching because id like to try it too
@@caseygray6028 great thanks 👍🏻
Looking into doing the same thing. Like to see how it goes. Thanks
@@RickMaddoxSr great thanks.
I'm considering the exact same project but with the Kingtech 45.
@@allensrcadventures yeah that was on my list. Went for the Xicoy in the end but the conversion kit is actually designed around the K45 I believe 👍🏻
How much was the turbine?
@@patdiviney7630 about $2000 👍🏻

@@duncanmartin2626 no not yet. I’ve been very busy so haven’t made much progress. Tested the engine on the bench yesterday. Video coming soon…

@@10fantic I’ve fully read the main manual. Good tip on the purging thanks 👍🏻
