Love this idea as a regular thing, would be cool if you threw in just regular weeks w/o challenges to get your insights on normal tournament play. Or even standard games to mind game your opponents, make it more viable

Loving these ESL challenges - please keep doing them when you're able, they add a nice extra to your already superb channel. Also, like others have suggested, I'm thinking voice-over's after these ESL games would be most excellent - that way if anything goes south you can't blame us 😄😄
I still think moving to voice over after your first loss would really help. HM does that in ESLs too, where he'll stop commentating once he gets to the round of 8 or whatever. That extra level of focus would've ensured the raven popped out After the upgrade, the SCV's didn't move command, and that the hellions got off that extra volley, any one of which could easily have swayed the game, and if all 3 had your undivided attention I don't see you losing that game honestly. Not to mention taking the gas late as well.
100% agree. The voice over would have made the difference. The man is stressed in his personal life and I would have understood why the voice over is necessary. Perhaps he is concerned about the newer sunscribers not enjoying the content when it is a voice over? That's beside the point though. He still managed to play remarkably well, otherwise.

It just can't be captured the same way after it's already happened. The adrenaline isn't there, and he already knows the outcome so there's no surprise, or it's all artificial. I don't particularly care if he wins or loses, because I always win if it's engaging.

It makes sense that the bong cloud would be your highest mmr. It's a "massive disadvantage" but it's only at the start, as long as you can stabilize then the end game is normal and just one player (you) being much better at the game, you have a higher peak, the ability to get a strong as you can. The other challenges you have no disadvantage at the start but have a pretty low ceiling for how strong you can be. One is a hurdle you have to get over, the other is a brick wall you eventually hit. Kind of frustrating to see you outplay opponents so hard early game but then lose to the brick wall. Maybe you could do a challenge or add to a challenge something like after every so many minutes you can make 1 more kind of unit and at a certain point in the game you can play normal.
I'm not surprised Bong Cloud has been your most successful strat. It allows you to build counter units despite the eco handicap. With other strats you're forced to play units the ENTIRE game that can be hard countered.
Request to the Council of uThermal. A tough loss, but a lesson learned, i think. You're stressed irl which means your concentration used on commentating is punished even more than usual. This shows in the microing mistakes and the auto repair mishap. I formally request a challenge rule be added that in times of stress or high MMR opponents that Marc is allowed to remain quiet whilst playing and dub his voice over afterwards, as he has before, just more frequently. If you wanted to go deeper in these open cups it could be fun to just play standard in game 3s. That would be a way to mix in some variety and see some of your standard play
Each full square is 25, I think... and near max its a little rounding up. 3 full purple and it starts transparency turnign into purple.. for the forht blocks means your heading towards 80...
So, i'm not a good player of this, the macros and things aren't my strong suit, nor is the speed, but this is entertaining to watch the different fights, it happens so damn fast, just because this is way above my skill and processing power lol. Very entertaining over all.
I am curious if the first opponent, since knowing you, was trying to play your current cyclone/mine challenge, and then started shifting it immediately when going down hill to try and stabilize.
I miss ghost to grand Master because the dopamine hit of a great nuke is crazy. I haven't played/watched starcraft in over 5 years but your content is fantastic. The mines cyclone build pulls a close second to nukes. They seem to have a lot of potential and the micro on them seems unexplored except by you.
Bongcloud is the highest MMR because you didnt restrict your unit production for the challenge, I.E. ghost only or raven/Helion only. So ya you handicap alil bit but you can also make w/e army you need. Just my 2 cents
Yup, the ghost was rlly fun at first but i can see the problem of it later on into gm where he had to rely on lucky nuke because its a stupid strat and doesnt work well against non zerg most of the time, cyclone however have so much more potential along with mines
Do widow mines shoot flying Terran buildings? I thought of it while seeing the scouting barracks in this, and remembering the cyclone/widow mine series. I don't think I've ever seen a situation where that would come up.
For someone who knows your builds, about the only thing you can do it hit hard with your opening attack, and hope the reveal of the "challenge build" remains offensive enough to keep them from gaining a defensive foothold.
I think it would help with the content level (both quality and quantity) if you played your games and the voice over commentated it. That way you can also pause the game and explain things better where you want to (the quality), as well as focusing more during the games (meaning better chance at winning and playing more games, the quantity).

That would make it so the opponents that know Marc would have to guess, "am I getting memed?" Which would probably avoid some hard counters.
I love the idea of making a challenge where the strategy might be decided or randomized before a match(cheese/all In/Macro/ect) but he plays serious.

I got crushed with these tactics. I adapt them now. 3 Cyclone opening with mines. But I add Tanks then in the Mix. That worked against toss very good.
The first game vs hellion raven versus cyclone mine, but he chose to skip mines.
