Porsche 964 Paint Correction | Safe for a first timer with an old Porsche 911 ?

  • Detailing a Porsche 911 for the first time isn't easy. Paint correction for beginners isn't easy. This isn't a review of the Rupes Bigfoot but it's my first time using an orbital polisher. What could possibly go wrong?

    Lovely 964! Machine polishing is knackering isn't it! I've tried once too, same as you i spent 2 days on it after watching videos on here. People don't mention what hard work it is, on your knees most of the time, repetitive, awkward etc , but that end result is amazing. Will have to try again on my 911, it's white so much more forgiving! Loving the vids btw, here bc of Auto Amateur mentioning you!

    • @lastrasp
      @lastrasp  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely tiring! But the results make it worth it for sure. I imagine whir your ne more forgiving - perhaps harder to inspect results as you go? Gee whiz, I owe James a bottle of something I think!

    After washing and drying the car you need to CLAY BAR the car before buffing or polishing. You will be amazed how much it removes and makes the polishing easier.

    • @lastrasp
      @lastrasp  ปีที่แล้ว

      Such a good point! I did actually clay bar it prior to polishing but didn't film that step. So yes, absolutely agree.

      @@lastrasp it's the same with the Amazon Green too. It looks like a blend of Emerad and turquoise and sparkles in bright sunlight, in the shadows it appears to be a flat dark blue and in the night it looks pretty much black. 🙂

      Hey. What a great project! How far along are you? It’s Forest Green Metallic. They’re all quite similar colours. One thing I’ll say about Forest Green is it’s a chameleon color. Changes so much depending on the light.

    • @klg65
      @klg65 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. Restoring a '76 Carrera. Existing color is not original and believed to be either moss green metallic or forrest green metallic. Discovered non-metallic brewster green recently and am leaning in that direction. Metal work is done, primer is done, almost ready for paint.
