I had the Z-Start on my DRZ400 and I really liked it. Didn't need a clutch lever at all on that early model. Some people would retrofit a rear brake lever in it's place. I did keep the rekluse when I sold the bike. Great job on your video!
You would be preaching to the choir there if you were correct. I still can pop the clutch just the same as before. I would miss that. However the bike rides the same as before clutch wise you can still feather, pop, dump, or whatever you want. The only thing I DO miss is I can't pop-start while coasting down hill. However I have electric start and a kick start if I need to.
I appreciated your detail etc. I'm new to bikes and was traded a ktm 450 with recluse and rode it 2-3 times and no linger will go. Put new clutch plates in on my own and now when I put it into gear it just spins wheel n dies. I didn't know and kinda still don't know how to adjust it. I'll pull it apart again and check spacing etc. But I don't have nogo things?
My pressure plate that holds the balls doesnt sit down into the grooves. Its a crf250r. When i remove the pushrod and install it it fits and screws down all the way into the grooves. Any help is appreciated.
I can see using this on a two stroke or something for enduro or hardcore trails where bottom end power is low but I like solid engagement when i pop the clutch. This seems to turn it into a centrifugal clutch or something where there is slippage n that's no fun
So you said if it doesn’t go in at all (the no go gauges) you are good? I’m trying to put this kit in my 05 ktm 450 and I have ZERO gap and the clutch pack is so tight at 25 inch lbs the pack has absolutely no movement..
If your are stalling keep one finger one the clutch and learn how to ride using the clutch a little in the turns to keep the rpms up way faster in the turns watch the pros....or spend a grand on a bunch of shit you don't need and still can't ride
hey brother I need that clutch but I can't get it, I have the whole system but I can't get just the clutches, if you know where I can get it you would help me a lot
Good video. As a fellow model aiplane pilot, i would love a tour of the models you have, and radio systems you use. I just got a 9 channel 2.4ghz computer radio
At the start you said that you're riding an X but later in the video you talk about how you have a light flywheel and its a motorcross bike. Did you buy and X and make it more like and R or the other way around. I have a 450R that I added a heavy fly wheel to and made it ride more like and X but is still more peppy than a standard X. I ride very rocky and technical single track what setting would you recommend. Looking at doing the Z-start
I was just trying to explain to a mate how the Rekluse clutch works the other day. I will send him the link to this. I watched the other video of the Rekluse in action... how bizarre, how bizarre. :)
Great video brian .. I didn't have no video at the end but other then that this was an amazing install video will I even have to put a clutch in a bike prolly not but I still watched it and liked it lol
Hello been loving your videos on the 450,s very helpful and complete you must have had a good teachers they got you using your brain. Had to ride home with no clutch lever recently .not fun in tight stuff{standard clutch} Found this on their website any chance you could show how this is done? Can I bump-start with an auto clutch? All three Rekluse Auto-Clutches can be configured to bump-start the engine in the event your normal starting system fails. However, they can not be configured for bump-starting on the go like a standard clutch. One must stop the motorcycle and make an adjustment (on some Rekluse models this requires tools) to bump start and then make another adjustment to continue riding once the engine fires. Bump-starting can be done to get you home.
I'm not new to the concept of stalling causing a person to clean out their shorts. :) While we may not have any "burning dirt," we do have our fair share of areas where it may cost your life to stall. I live on the Olympic peninsula in WA state: lots of goat trails with anywhere from 100 to 1000 feet drop-offs. (Can provide pics.) I'm 53 and still ride a YZ250, so to hear someone worrying about stalling something that's as close to a farm tractor as you're going to get, just sounds odd.
hey I got a question I got a 08 KTM 525 XC ATV so my bike came with a recluse Z start Pro I had the bike over a year and maybe 2 months now so I was going to change the friction because I thought my clutch was slipping so as I change the fractions and put everything back together but now when I try to crank up the bike the bike try to take off immediately and cut off or stall out so I wonder if I did something wrong or what do I have to do because if I loosen up the screws on the plate it will start up fine but when I press the gas it won't go or have the response like it suppose but I know the screws don't supposed to be loose like that but can you please help me out or do you know what my problem is
If your frictions are too thick or you have junk between them it will do that. It could also be air in your clutch hydraulics. (hose, master, or slave cylinders- bleed them)
well I don't know what to say or do right about now because I tried putting the old frictions back on but it's still just doing the same thing it's in neutral when I put it in gear the bike try to go and stall out I can't even roll the bike anymore any no gear just neutral
Let's go riding. I'll demonstrate scenarios where stalling can put the fear of God into your soul. Badlands Wyoming comes to mind. That alkali dirt burns if you stall a steep climb.
Man I have one of these already installed in my 06 CRF450R that I bought used and I absolutely hate it.. The clutch pull is too easy for me. It doesn't feel right.. Is there a way to make the clutch pull a little stiffer with this z-start pro?? If not im taking this thing out and selling it to get a regular clutch..
Shit happens sometimes, I've stalled my truck a few times. Foot slips cause my boot was wet, maybe i wasn't paying attention or whatever. Accidents happen. The SM's can be pretty touchy same with motocross. I do agree to a point though. If you're constantly stalling, you need to practice more. Not turn in your license. You can't accomplish anything by giving up.

I didn't have video for the last part for some reason
To make the clutch pull feel a little more like an actual clutch you could find a way to attach a stronger return spring on the clutch lever.
Bump start, like pushing it down a hill, jumping on it, popping into second gear and dumping the clutch. It's a backup starting option.
Actually the torque spec on the center lock nut is 69Nm.
No. Not as long as your RPM's are up.
I appreciated your detail etc. I'm new to bikes and was traded a ktm 450 with recluse and rode it 2-3 times and no linger will go. If it's dying it's not disconnecting or the carb idle/tune isn't good. The idea is there's some gap unless it's rotating enough to hook up.
You should do more videos you are great at this. peace out. how do i see the end ?
Good video explanation. I just got the z pro on my bike. Your video helped clear up the questions I had about adjustment. Thanks a lot.
Did u use lock tight for the nut

Amanda Blankenship it's not just for turns..and a bunch of pro's run these.
I've been riding for over 37 years...if you ride anything technical, its a game changer believe me.
hey brother I need that clutch but I can't get it, I have the whole system but I can't get just the clutches, if you know where I can get it you would help me a lot
seems like a pain to change the adjustment spring. cool video tho, I have wondered how they work.
Good video. As a fellow model aiplane pilot, i would love a tour of the models you have, and radio systems you use. I just got a 9 channel 2.4ghz computer radio
I'm just pumped- I got some crap from the thrift shop!
You are very skillful in that field . I wish you could train me to become a good mechanic like you
LOL
yep or if you stall while your still moving, and your going fast enough, you could do a pop start on the fly.
The Rekluse is good clutch and well designed.

like a variator, right?
And i love it! Looks like you have a wide collection of helis and planes behind you.
I have another channel for that called THESkiViking here on YT.
Awesome video! Looking at one of these clutch kits for my big old ktm 525.
Do it- you'll love it! No pop starting possible once you do, but you'll need it way less if ever.
Great video brian .. I didn't have no video at the end but other then that this was an amazing install video will I even have to put a clutch in a bike prolly not but I still watched it and liked it lol
Все чистенько и аккуратно. Молодец какой. Мотоцикл весь блестит....
Marry an american visa trough youtube hahahahaaa
+Ирина Проняева Очиститель ваш велосипед обслуживается, тем лучше это для пачкаться.
Same clutch install, factory TQ spec on the nut is 59fp... you said 31NM = 22.86fp... which is half.... did that work for you??
Worked awesome.

Right on!
would you recommend this for a trail bike? looking at getting the 450r but not sure if this clutch would benefit me or not
this clutch was ment for a enduro or trail bike or thats what most enduro riders use
+sam gillcash YES

I have no idea using locktite there is ok?
You're using ATF in your crank case, aren't you?
no-gear oil for race bikes.
by the +briansmobile1 or @briansmobile1 , i have a question for you? why did you start with the plain disk and not the friction plate? please help.
+alphabama The instructions say to.
+briansmobile1 thanks i apologize
Brian, this is f-ing awesome!! Can I do this with my KLR650?
i just feel like u may not get the full amount of power and control of gears with a auto clutch
Interesting that there is no echo. Plus, I figured he'd have the Loggins cranked up in that case. "♩♫Welcome to the Danger Zone!!!♩♫"
Let's go riding. I'll demonstrate scenarios where stalling can put the fear of God into your soul. Badlands Wyoming comes to mind. That alkali dirt burns if you stall a steep climb.
why divide the balls by 3?is that written in the manual too? @briansmobile1
+alphabama Yes.
Do you think the z start pro is good enough instead of getting the exp 3.0 they have out now? it cost more $$$$
I loved it- haven't tried the new stuff. Looking to do one on a 2008 R
Does it affect engine braking?
Man I have one of these already installed in my 06 CRF450R that I bought used and I absolutely hate it.. The clutch pull is too easy for me. It doesn't feel right.. +Call_M3_Mr_T Just rev. It's limp till the rmps throw the balls.
briansmobile1 Yea I figured that out after a few more hours of riding.. Thanks..
What do you soak the friction disks in if they aren't presoaked
+Evan Smith Gear oil that you intend to use on the bike.
hey Brian thanks for making a sweet video I enjoyed it a lot yeah buddy
Video at the end?????????????
He's riding his motorbike on the inside of a cave with no headlight. Brian likes to live his life on the edge like that.
The last five minutes of your video your video want black i can't see anything that you were describing, wtf! Want to see what you're talking about...
pop start?
Am I crazy, or is there no video for the last few minutes?
What year is the crf your riding the recluse on?
2008 I think.
450 x or 450r
Thanks! Great video
Another Cyberlink Power Director 9 FAIL.
Good review. I gave you your 400th like for this video.

Shotgun challenge do it do it buck shot from 5 ft away eh eh eh
Good job man
Yer headlight is off !!

Good job

Gotta get myself one!
Thumbs up for Pet Shop Boys ;-)
if your stalling in traffic u probably should turn in your license

Yes
very good

good chanel
I can't believe anyone's worried about stalling a 450 4-stroke...
