great video, looks great and gives a pretty good idea being done at the right speed to give you some good ideas. some really rude and negative people posting comments that need to be ignored. nothing wrong with drilling into brick unless you drill a dozen holes in a small area.

I'd still call it a shelf, not a bench. A bench you can sit on, a shelf you don't sit on.
In Australia we call countertops benchtops, or bench for short.
