So did you set the 40" at the the teeth standing the bucket up or off the bucket sitting flat on the ground I find it's easier to set it with the bucket flat and drag it flat to give you a nice base , bit like digging footings.i think you should of kept the 12" bucket .just when you dig deeper than the depth of the bucket you probably should dig a bench out , so like Middle and out side tooth beside the edge of trench and it will make shoulder room for any manual work inside the trench easier.typical bucket set here in Australia is 12", 16 ",24".and a batter or tilt bucket.bolt on edge and a ripping tyne.
Just put tracks on mine at 1,700 hours. Hate the swing, but love the machine. Regarding buckets, look for the “high capacity heavy duty buckets”. I recently bought a 16” bucket like that and it’s capacity was almost as much as my 24” heavy duty bucket. One interesting thing I use my machine for, I bought the adapter plate to go from excavator to skid steer plate. I use my forks to unload pipe and pallets all the time, blade down when needed. But I got to thinking, why can’t I hang a trencher attachment off that. Set my attachment to “brush cutter” and continuous flow and I’m trenching with it. Added the extra counterweight. Not perfect, but I get bye. Can trench, then switch to a bucket, finish my excavation. Usually pivot the boom all the way left. It gets the center of gravity closer to me. It’s nice to get to a “one machine” platform versus dragging the skidder around as well. I got the Fabick guys in Illinois all wound up showing what this machine can do. And one of these days, I’m gonna hang the power rake off it. I know, sounds crazy, but it’ll save me extra trips moving Eqp with my gooseneck using this as much as I can. Hope you’re still happy with your 306!!
Beautiful machine, you’re correct about the need to bring back our manufacturing. Democrats are just in love with China and Mexico keeping America last. That ease of use amazing isn’t it?
CR = Compact Radius as opposed to a zero tail swing model. How are you legally towing 16000 lbs on that trailer on a regular trailer hitch? And FYI its an EX-CA-VAT-OR not an escavader.
I have filled the machine up with fuel 6 times and is has around 130 hours on it now. It has a 34 gallon fuel tank. The ease of use system is not standard and can be added at the factory or at the dealership
I have the same cat 306 and love it. I learn on this machine every day. I love. Nice video!!!
Thanks for the video... I wouldn't have thought about the thumb pins being the issue, as I've thought about the exact setup as you had initially.
Not sure it would have caused problems short-term but potentially long-term. Thanks for the comment

Still happy with it so far, sounds like you have put it to the test.

I love the ease of use. Makes staying on grade a lot easier

You’re right it is Compact Radius not Compact Ready, I don’t have a way to edit my video. I’m from the country and FYI I’m from the country.
Hey I’m looking to get one of these. How’s the fuel per hour usage and is the height detect optional or standard
